Su Yi looked up at the sky. It was filled with shadows of tree branches. Occasionally, one or two stars could be seen twinkling in the gaps.

“Can we see it from here?”

Huo Jun said mysteriously: “I’ll take you to my base.”

Su Yi followed him with some curiosity.

The two of them turned around in the dense forest.

Huo Jun seemed to be very familiar with this place. Even at night, his steps did not hesitate.

Soon, they came to a huge old tree. The treetops covered the sky and the sun. The tree was almost like an island.

Huo Jun took Su Yi to climb up.

When they got close to the top, there was a part where the branches became very sparse. There was a crooked wooden house, which was built on the branches.

Su Yi bent down and stuck her head through the small window of the wooden house.

The space inside was not big, just enough for one person to turn around, but there were a lot of things piled up tightly together, which felt like a small nest where squirrels stored supplies and prepared for the winter.

Huo Jun dragged a blanket out of the wooden house, spread it on the platform outside the house, sat on it, patted the seat beside him, and said to Su Yi: “Sit here.”

Su Yi moved over and sat down.

She found that the blanket felt a little hard, as if it was the fur of some animal. The edges were also rough, as if it had been peeled off by a clumsy child.

“Did you build the wooden house?”

He reached out his hand tentatively and held Su Yi’s hand hanging on her legs. Seeing that he was not rejected, he squeezed it further.

Huo Jun raised his eyebrows and said, “Playing the victim? How can a man play the victim?”
