GTGV Chapter 69.1

When Xie Jinqiu unexpectedly received a call from Ning Chuchu, far from being annoyed by the inconvenience, he was actually energized and immediately drove to pick her up. 

Xie Jinqiu’s heart pounded the entire way there. 

It was already late, yet Ning Chuchu had called him out of nowhere to ask him out for dinner… 

Did this mean their relationship had taken a step forward? 

Xie Jinqiu began to seriously consider whether tonight would be the opportunity to formally confess his feelings.

Until he saw the little boy Ning Chuchu was holding, all the excitement and romantic thoughts in his heart instantly dissipated.

At night, Ning Chuchu wore a light, understated dress, her delicate face bare of makeup. Compared to her dazzling appearance on the podium that day, she now looked pure, calm, and still captivating.

Xie Jinqiu hurriedly got out of the car, and before he could even smile and greet her, his attention was caught by the little boy beside her.

The little boy looked about four or five years old, chubby with delicate features, like a child carved from gold and jade. His big, dark eyes were lively and cunning, possessing a shrewdness that belied his age.

Xie Jinqiu paused slightly and then walked forward with a relaxed demeanor. He smiled at Ning Chuchu, then casually lowered his head, and asked, “Who is this child…?”

Ning Chuchu gave him a meaningful, mischievous smile. 

“My adopted son.”

Xie Jinqiu: “…”

His expression faltered slightly. He stared at Ning Chuchu, speechless for a moment.

Xie Jinqiu certainly didn’t believe that this child was Ning Chuchu’s biological child. He was simply curious about the relationship between this suddenly appearing child and Ning Chuchu. 

Why did they seem so familiar?

He remembered that Ning Chuchu didn’t have any children of a similar age around her. 

Xie Jinqiu was puzzled, but seeing that Ning Chuchu had no intention of explaining, he considerately refrained from questioning. Instead, he half-knelt and looked the child in the eye intently. His expression showed no disdain for the child, but rather a serious expression. 

Xie Jinqiu said softly, “Hello.”

The system stared at him with wide eyes and exclaimed excitedly, “Ah! You’re the one with the surname Xie!”

Xie Jinqiu was slightly taken aback and then nodded with a faint smile. 

“Yes, my surname is Xie.”

The system chuckled and continued calmly, “Why don’t you call me brother?”

Xie Jinqiu: “…?”

Ning Chuchu slapped the system on the back of the head, raised an eyebrow, and sneered, “How rude! Call him Uncle Xie!”

System: “…” Humiliating!

But thinking of the roast duck about to reach his mouth, the system swallowed his saliva in a cowardly manner and reluctantly called out, “Uncle Xie.”

Xie Jinqiu didn’t care about the child’s almost rude behavior and continued with a faint smile.

“What are your plans?” Xie Jinqiu asked gently.

Before Ning Chuchu could reply, the system leaped up. His small, fleshy hand raised and excitedly howled, “Roast duck! I want roast duck!”

Although Ning Chuchu often criticized the system, the look she gave him was filled with indulgence. She raised her hand to tuck the hair behind her ear and smiled softly at Xie Jinqiu.

“Then, take us for some roast duck?”

After hearing the system’s request, Xie Jinqiu’s first reaction was a slight frown.

After all, the preparation of top-quality roast duck is extremely complex. From preparing the duck to roasting it, it takes at least several hours. Not to mention it was late at night, making roast duck a real hassle.

However, when Xie Jinqiu met Ning Chuchu’s gentle, smiling eyes, all his concerns were immediately cast aside.

Xie Jinqiu opened the car door and helped carry the system inside. He even carefully held up the roof for Ning Chuchu as she got in. 

Then, before getting in himself, Xie Jinqiu hurriedly made a phone call and gave instructions in a deep voice.

Xie Jinqiu was accustomed to fulfilling Ning Chuchu’s requests to perfection, so he paid a considerable favor, summoning a master roast duck chef late at night. After quickly arranging everything, he headed to the restaurant with his two children, one big and one small. 

On the way, Ning Chuchu and the system sat together in the back seat, huddled close together, their affection evident.

Through the car window, Ning Chuchu pointed out the shops outside while chatting quietly with the system.

“See? That children’s clothing store is quite famous, and the clothes there are really nice.”

The system’s eyes lit up: “You want to buy me new clothes?”

Ning Chuchu tsked. 

“What I mean is, tomorrow I’ll send you to work at a children’s clothing store, as a model or something. You have to earn your living expenses!”

System: “…Are you a monster?!”

“Look! That hot pot is delicious!”

Before the system could get seriously angry, his attention was quickly diverted. He swallowed hard. 

“Take me to that hot pot restaurant tomorrow!”

“Sure!” Ning Chuchu smiled slightly. 

“When your salary comes in, you can eat whatever you want.”

System: “…” His fists stiffened!
