Her past didn’t seem like it’d lead her to a good future. However, Xu Cai still believed that, at the very least, she wouldn’t have to endure Chu Xiaoyue’s beatings anymore.
Still, if her master didn’t agree to her being with Chu Pingyu, she would stay contentedly at the Baoyue Peak, even if she had to endure a beating every month.
When the original host came out of seclusion and heard about Chu Pingyu’s proposal, she only asked Xu Cai what she thought of the proposal. Her demeanour made it clear that if Xu Cai were willing, she wouldn’t stop her.
Xu Cai felt heartbroken. After kowtowing to the original host a few times, she left with Chu Pingyu.
Even though Xu Cai had chosen to follow Chu Pingyu, she still had to endure abuse from Chu Xiaoyue. On top of that, she had to serve the siblings’ parents, and she was also not given any resources for her cultivation.
Xu Cai couldn’t bear the shame of running back to her fellow disciples at Baoyue Peak. She refused to seek their help. In the end, she was slowly worn down by Chu Xiaoyue and ended up dying. Without access to cultivation resources, her mediocre talent couldn’t allow her to improve her skills, and the frequent beatings she had to endure only hastened her death.
“You can all leave and return to your tasks,” Qian Yan said to the service disciples who were still kneeling on the ground.
She didn’t say much more. She knew that these service disciples might not believe her words even if she did. After all, it was the original host’s willingness to indulge her family members that had allowed their peak, Dengyun Peak, to brutally bully the disciples of Baoyue Peak.
These service disciples had learned that they’d usually get by just fine as long as they didn’t provoke the people from Dengyun Peak.
“Why aren’t you getting up yet?”
Xu Cai, who had been crying for a long time, got out of Qian Yan’s embrace. She looked around the room curiously and boldly scrutinised Qian Yan.
“If only my master is this good to me in reality… Oh, how could I be so greedy?” Xu Cai muttered. Her eyes were already swollen, and yet still filled with tears. “The heavens must have pitied me. It must’ve seen me being so miserable and suddenly blessed me because of that.”
“Little Sixth1Xu Cai is the sixth disciple, so this (Xiaoliu) is a nickname for her..”
“Master?” Xu Cai replied. She couldn’t believe that this was all real. She was treating it as a long dream that she wouldn’t wake up from for a while, and as such, she had become much bolder.
“You have injuries. Let’s treat them first.”
Qian Yan grabbed Xu Cai’s arm and instantly transported them into a room.
Qian Yan rummaged through the original host’s storage ring and took out some medicinal herbs for healing. She also instructed a service disciple to prepare some hot water.
“Go clean up.”
Xu Cai obediently walked into the washroom with the medicine Qian Yan gave her and some clean clothes.
Everything in front of her right now was so wonderful. She had to cherish it, as she believed that when she woke up, all of this would disappear.
She cleaned herself up and applied the medicine to her injuries. She felt a cool sensation coming from her wound. It felt so real. She felt deeply moved.
After changing her clothes, Xu Cai opened the door and went out. She feared that she would find that everything had disappeared by the time she went out. To her relief, Qian Yan was sitting on the side and drinking tea. She jogged over to her.
“Master.”
Qian Yan took out a jade pendant and gave it to Xu Cai. “Refine this jade pendant. In the future, if anyone bullies you, use the pendant to communicate with me so I can come to help you.”
“Thank you, Master,” Xu Cai replied. She didn’t reject the gift. Her eyes were teary. She couldn’t help wishing, again, that this was real.
She tightly held the jade pendant. It felt so real. Her dream master was just too kind to her, and everything felt so real that she almost believed it was.
“This silver dragon whip is also for you,” Qian Yan said. Her expression didn’t seem too pleased when she handed the whip to Xu Cai.
The members of the Chu family often came to take away her things, and she didn’t have much to spare.
It was surprising that a cultivator of her level had so few treasures.
Of course, she could easily obtain valuable items. Her alchemy skills alone could give her many, many spirit stones.
Xu Cai received the silver dragon whip in a daze. Qian Yan then said, “The material is average, but I’ll have it improved for you later. When Chu Xiaoyue returns, you can use this whip to teach her a lesson.”
