The Xi family’s parched Tianyan earth veins, dry for years, filled with spiritual power again.
Yu Tuishan sat cross-legged in the spot where he’d been imprisoned for eight years, watching the familiar Tianyan spiritual river flow before him, feeling it rapidly spreading from Central State to the borders.
Half a shichen later, from southern to northern borders, the underground became a fully connected river. Tianyan earth veins flowed unimpeded.
Yu Tuishan lightly brushed the flowing spiritual river before him.
All Thirteen States’ Tianyan was under his control. With a thought, his true body in northern Evil Qi Road silently appeared in the river.
Xi Jue’s body had grown normally due to Tianyan’s nourishment, taller than Yan Ling despite the torment.
Yu Tuishan gazed at that familiar yet strange sleeping form, reaching out—but an invisible force blocked his fingertips.
“Don’t be afraid,” Yu Tuishan whispered to the scarred body. “You’ll be out soon.”
In northern Evil Qi Road, countless “Abandoned Immortal Bone” cultivators stiffened like puppets as all Thirteen States’ Tianyan converged. The deadly poison deep in their bodies froze them.
Countless cultivators’ spiritual power surged as starlight straight to the heavens.
In an instant, the massive array spanning three realms—from south to north through Central State, formed by “Abandoned Immortal Bone”—finally activated under one full Tianyan earth vein, slowly operating.
The giant array, named “Abandoned Immortal Bone.”
Truly abandoning the immortal bones bestowed by Heavenly Dao.
At the array’s formation, thunder crashed from above the Xi family, splitting down like Heavenly Dao’s fury, roaring in reprimand.
Rang Chen stood sword in hand atop the half-collapsed earth vein ruins, expressionless, watching Yu Tuishan.
“Yu Tuishan,” his voice low. “Your death tribulation has arrived.”
Even slaughtering the Qu family only earned a single “Guilty” on Sheng Jiao’s Tianyan Pearl—a Heavenly Dao warning not to defy heaven.
Now Heavenly Dao finally understood Yu Tuishan’s plan to destroy Tianyan entirely. In an instant, his fate and future changed.
The golden spiritual power that once favored him turned to ominous crimson.
Countless eerie red lines madly threaded through Yu Tuishan’s body. In one breath, Rang Chen saw dozens of death omens on him.
Even Rang Chen, tempered by “Glimpsing Heaven’s Secret” to stone-heartedness, was shocked by the scene.
Yu Tuishan knew what “death tribulation” meant. He felt no fear, laughing wildly like a prank succeeded.
Arms spread to the flowing Tianyan, tears streaming: “You finally know?”
Even with “Glimpsing Heaven’s Secrets,” Heavenly Dao hadn’t foreseen that the humans they deemed ants would one day rebel.
Yu Tuishan’s blurred gaze fell on his scarred body, voice dropping to a murmur: “But it’s too late.”
If there were other ways, he wouldn’t dare defy Heavenly Dao so recklessly.
He’d long lost any path of retreat, only able to press forward to the dead-end road he’d prepared for himself.
Above the Xi family ruins, thunder rumbled incessantly.
Sheng Jiao came alone, without a single Xiezhi Sect member, gripping Winter Snow Sword with a face like still water. His icy, indifferent aura made everyone within miles shiver inexplicably.
In an instant, Sheng Jiao flew into the Xi estate, empty soulless eyes coldly scanning.
No one saw how he drew his sword. His tall black figure stood like a pine, eyes catching only a cold gleam flashing past.
Great Ascension sword intent seemed to cleave all sound around. After a moment of dead silence, the sword’s hum roared in ears, hissing through air like shattering the world, aimed straight at the Xi earth vein entrance.
The sword intent could pierce hard ground, striking Yu Tuishan’s fatal neck point, ending him instantly.
Rang Chen’s pupils shrank. Surging spiritual power swept up, forcibly blocking Sheng Jiao’s cold strike.
Spirit-level xiangwen “Kan Tian Dao” versus “Glimpsing Heaven’s Secrets”—the already ruined Xi estate flattened completely into endless wasteland, dust rising, smoke swirling.
Sheng Jiao advanced step by step, sword in hand, merciless eyes showing no mercy.
Lips unmoving, spiritual transmission echoed like from another realm:
“Move.”
Rang Chen had anticipated opposing Sheng Jiao after allying with Yu Tuishan to destroy Tianyan.
He lowered his sword, blocking the earth vein entrance, saying flatly: “Sect Master Sheng, why have you come? What iron law of Xiezhi Sect have we broken?”
Sheng Jiao’s eyes were lifeless, as if not recognizing Rang Chen. His fingers gripped Winter Snow Sword like stone. Even facing a classmate of over a decade, he swung without change.
Boom!
Another explosion. Rang Chen’s “Glimpsing Heaven’s Secrets” had little chance against Great Ascension Sheng Jiao, but Yu Tuishan controlled all Thirteen States’ Tianyan—even suppressing “Kan Tian Dao” faintly.
Winter Snow Sword clashed with Rang Chen’s spirit sword, sparks flying as if to burn them.
After several exchanges, Rang Chen finally sensed Sheng Jiao’s abnormality, retreating several steps with grim face, coldly watching.
It wasn’t Sheng Jiao.
Rang Chen had only seen Sheng Jiao this emotionless, stripped of human feelings, when first entering Tianyan Academy—a state lasting mere days.
Soon after meeting Yan Ling, Sheng Jiao’s deathly pallor rippled like a pebble in a pond.
He’d come alive.
Now, an invisible force controlled Sheng Jiao, reverting him to that cold stone state.
Rang Chen’s heart sank slightly.
Yu Tuishan transmitted via Tianyan: “If you can’t stop him, so be it.”
Though detached from worldly desires, with Yu Tuishan suppressing “Kan Tian Dao” so favorably, Rang Chen refused to yield easily.
“Shut up,” he said coldly.
Spirit-level xiangwen powers intertwined again, spirit swords crashing, sparks bursting like night fireworks.
Yan Jianlan slept groggily for half a shichen before “Sound of Leisure” broke Yu Tuishan’s seal, consciousness struggling from the mire.
He understood why Yu Tuishan knocked him out but refused to sleep carefree while Yu Tuishan destroyed Tianyan alone—even opposing Sheng Jiao, he had to go.
Yan Jianlan rushed from Tianyan Academy to Xi family, nearly blasted by spiritual shockwaves before landing.
Void Return cultivation formed a full-body barrier amid rising dust. He couldn’t see the fight, only hearing waves of piercing killing intent.
Killing intent?
Yan Jianlan clutched his ears, head splitting, yanking off his earring for relief.
Suddenly, a white figure flew back from dust. Rang Chen stabbed his sword into ground, staggering to steady, long hair disheveled—rarely so ragged.
Yan Jianlan was shocked: “Rang Chen?!”
Rang Chen frowned at him: “Jianlan, why are you here?”
Yan Jianlan opened his mouth, but saw another figure flash from dust, sword raised expressionlessly at Rang Chen.
They’d fought two quarters-hour. Strangely, Sheng Jiao’s suppressed “Kan Tian Dao” resisted “Kan Tianyan” bit by bit amid draining spiritual power.
Rang Chen, at Void Return, nearly died several times.
Yu Tuishan transmitted coldly: “He’s not stripped of emotions.”
Sheng Jiao was no longer Sheng Jiao.
He was Heavenly Dao’s reflection in the mortal world.
Emotionless, detached, indifferent.
Rang Chen frowned.
Yu Tuishan: “I said, if you can’t block, forget it.”
Yu Tuishan wasn’t afraid. Learning of his death tribulation from Rang Chen, he knew he’d die by Sheng Jiao’s hand—but the array, once started, wouldn’t stop. Killing him now changed nothing.
Even so, Rang Chen refused to retreat.
Sheng Jiao’s killing intent grew heavier, intent on slaying all blocking his path to Yu Tuishan. The sword at Rang Chen held no feeling.
Clang—
Spring Rain Sword flashed out. Yan Jianlan shot like an arrow, blocking before Rang Chen, barely catching Sheng Jiao’s strike.
Eyes landing on Yan Jianlan’s face, Sheng Jiao’s icy blue gaze flickered, instinctively trying to withdraw.
But Heavenly Dao’s imposed “duty” made him hesitate only an instant before reverting to frosty mercilessness. Winter Snow Sword didn’t retract—instead swinging again.
Yan Jianglan’s pupils shrank. He swung his arm backhandedly and shoved Rang Chen away. A sword seal burst freely from the Spring Rain Sword, and the spiritual power of the Void Return realm surged out like a raging tide.
Two spirit swords forged from the same block of spirit sword stone collided violently. Yan Jianglan only needed a single glance at Sheng Jiao to know that his actions were not of his own will, but rather as if he were being “possessed.”
Yan Jianglan did not blink. The Spring Rain Sword showed no mercy, its sharp edge pointing straight at Sheng Jiao’s brow.
Possessed by the Tian Dao, Sheng Jiao struck with cold ruthlessness, holding nothing back. Yan Jianglan was fully conscious, yet the sword he wielded and the killing intent he carried were even more brutal and merciless than Sheng Jiao’s.
Yan Jianglan attacked fiercely, only advancing and never defending. After several exchanges, the Winter Snow Sword shattered his protective restraints head-on.
A sound like glass shattering rang out.
Sheng Jiao’s gaze was empty. The Winter Snow Sword gleamed with bone-chilling cold as it thrust toward Yan Jianglan.
Yan Jianglan did not even try to block. His slender figure rose lightly like a butterfly, allowing the sharp blade to pierce straight through his waist and abdomen. At the same time, the Spring Rain Sword broke through the oppressive restraints of a Great Ascension stage cultivator and viciously pierced Sheng Jiao’s shoulder, forcibly pinning him to the dust-covered ground.
Perhaps at the sight of blood, Sheng Jiao’s pupils contracted sharply. His meridians screamed to move, to slaughter everyone who stood in his way, yet a sliver of consciousness seemed weighed down by a thousand catties, dragging him rigidly in place, preventing him from blasting the person suppressing him into dust.
His dark-blue, icy pupils rippled like a deep pool disturbed by a falling stone.
Yan Jianglan’s waist and abdomen had been pierced through. Dressed in black and drenched in blood, his strikingly beautiful face was as sharp and dazzling as the cold gleam of a sword tip.
He gripped the hilt of the Spring Rain Sword with both hands, using its strange sword intent to suppress Sheng Jiao with ferocious, almost crazed force. A streak of blood marked his face, his eyes cold and merciless.
“From inside his body—”
The Spring Rain Sword’s intent exploded violently within Sheng Jiao’s meridians as Yan Jianglan shouted coldly,
“Get out!”
