Due to the boyfriend’s interference and the fluffy crew’s rowdy commotion, the first meeting about the livestream program content failed.
In the end, the autocratic boss coldly and ruthlessly finalized three programs, ignoring the fluffy crew’s various performances: cat mukbang, cat grooming, and… wild wolf disco.
All because of Pei Shiyi’s impulsive and terrible idea, the entire cat café spent the next few evenings immersed in the music of “Wild Wolf Disco”. Playing background music was one thing, but Tong Qian even danced along while howling.
It was simply torture to the ears.
After enduring two days of this, Pei Shiyi could still hear Tong Qian practicing his “Wild Wolf Disco” in the small living room on Wednesday night.
Leaning against the headboard, Pei Shiyi fumbled for a pillow beside him and covered his entire face. Just suffocate me already and send me to the crematorium.
The howling was unbearably off-key. Tong Qian was probably tone-deaf, wailing in a way that was all over the place without hitting a single note. If it weren’t for the fact that the cat café was within Pei Shiyi’s barrier, they would have been reported for animal abuse long ago.
The cats originally loved sleeping on the big bed. But now, because of Tong Qian’s howling outside the room, they had all retreated behind the screen. Currently, only Pei Shiyi and Bo Jin occupy the big bed.
Since this bed was moved to the third floor, it had never been this empty.
Bo Jin stiffened beside Pei Shiyi. “…How can it sound so terrible?”
Pei Shiyi: …And this guy still has the nerve to complain.
He rolled over and pinned Bo Jin down. “Whose terrible idea was this? I think you should go out and be Tong Qian’s audience!”
It was bad enough that Tong Qian practiced on his own, but he would also come in to ask for Pei Shiyi’s opinion. Otherwise, Pei Shiyi would have long since cast a soundproof barrier around the bedroom.
Bo Jin wrapped his arms around him and pulled him close. “I don’t want to.”
Pei Shiyi wasn’t in the mood for affection. Right now, he just wanted to punch someone. He tried to push himself up and lean on Bo Jin’s chest. But Bo Jin pressed him back down.
Pei Shiyi: “What are you doing? I’m going out to persuade Tong Qian to come back. He’s been practicing for two hours already.”
Although Bo Jin disliked the noise, compared to being overwhelmed by a bunch of fluffballs and having to keep his distance from his boyfriend, he was more willing to endure the racket.
Bo Jin whispered, “Don’t you miss me?”
He wrapped his arms around Pei Shiyi’s waist, his breath warm against Pei Shiyi’s neck. “Look, usually Song Gao and the others sleep on the bed. You only fuss over them, ignoring me.”
Pei Shiyi: “Then what do you want me to do?”
Bo Jin: “Kiss me.”
He lowered his eyes, tilting his face slightly closer to Pei Shiyi.
As warm lips pressed against his, Pei Shiyi clenched his teeth in surprise. Bo Jin gently bit him and murmured, “Boyfriend, can I get a little closer to you?”
Pei Shiyi: “…”
You’re already kissing me—why so many words!
And so, lips and teeth nestled together, intimate and tender.
Even after the kiss ended, Bo Jin still gently nuzzled Pei Shiyi’s cheek, his voice hoarse as he spoke. “I must be the first person brave enough to treat you like this.”
Pei Shiyi covered the lower half of his face and turned his eyes away, refusing to look at him.
Bo Jin, not receiving a response, looked up in confusion. “What’s wrong?”
He caught a glimpse of faint redness at the corner of the other’s eyes and couldn’t resist leaning closer again. “Why won’t you look at me?”
Pei Shiyi lowered his hand, revealing exactly what Bo Jin had suspected. The corners of his eyes were flushed, his gaze clear and bright. Pei Shiyi said irritably, “Don’t act all innocent after taking advantage. Get lost!”
Director Bo ultimately had nowhere to roll away. The two of them fooled around for a few more minutes before Dan Huang timidly poked his cat head out from behind the screen: “Boss…”
Pei Shiyi yanked the blanket over Bo Jin’s face and laughed, “What’s wrong, Dan Huang?”
Bo Jin, smothered under the blanket: …
Dan Huang said miserably, “Can you please persuade Tong Qian to stop singing? We’re exhausted.”
Pei Shiyi had been waiting for this. He immediately got up. “Alright, I’ll go bring him upstairs.”
…
However, after surviving Wednesday, there was still Thursday. As soon as the cat café closed for the night, the second floor erupted with the sounds of “Wild Wolf Disco”, accompanied by Tong Qian’s familiar howling.
Dan Huang: Here we go again.
Yun Chao couldn’t control her strength and broke a scratching post: “If I knock him out…”
Miss Penny quickly rubbed against her: “Colleagues should be harmonious.”
Fondant brought over a dried fish: “Meow.”
Yun Chao, don’t be angry. Have some fish!
Yin Zhou curled up in his cat bed, sulking. His relationship with Tong Qian had improved a lot recently. Otherwise, he really wanted to rush downstairs and pin Tong Qian in the cat bed for some serious reflection.
Preferably after a good beating.
Yin Zhou gnawed on his paw, worried that after beating him up, his relationship with Tong Qian would sour again.
He didn’t want any unpleasantness with the cats in the café.
Yin Zhou bit his paw a little harder: I can’t hit him! Boss would be upset if I did.
While the big cats struggled to suppress the urge to beat up their colleague, Dai Dai stood up from his cat bed.
Dai Dai: “Meow!”
Enough is enough!
Mao Mao: “Meow!”
If you can tolerate it, I can’t!
The twins stormed downstairs, looking like they were about to engage in some workplace bullying. Dan Huang hurriedly followed, giving Miss Penny a look before leaving: Get the boss.
Yun Chao, never one to miss a spectacle, licked Fondant: “Come on, let’s go watch the fun.”
Second Floor
Dan Huang’s phone was dutifully playing music next to the scratching post. Tong Qian had graduated from scratching the post to dancing with his eyes closed.
“The flower in my heart, I want to take you home…”
Dan Huang’s legs went weak, nearly making him stumble. This wailing is even more lethal up close. It’s a wonder Yun Chao managed to tolerate Tong Qian for so long without hitting him. She deserves extra treats.
Oh, right, the big shot doesn’t eat treats.
Dai Dai plopped down in front of Tong Qian and slapped the floor sternly.
Hearing the noise, Tong Qian opened his eyes to find a tortoiseshell cat sitting before him. He pulled Dai Dai into a hug with one paw: “Isn’t this our Mao Mao? Come on, join me, let’s draw a dragon on the left together…”
Dai Dai stomped on his foot: “Meow!”
It’s Dai Dai!
Tong Qian lowered his head and sniffed carefully, utterly confused: “Smells like Mao Mao to me.”
Dai Dai: “Meow meow!”
My sister is behind you!
Tong Qian turned around to find another tortoiseshell cat chewing on his tail. Swishing his tail, he tucked both tortoiseshell cats into his embrace, then fell into deep thought: Oh no! Which one is Dai Dai, the left or the right?
After pondering for two seconds, Tong Qian decisively licked Mao Mao: “What does Dai Dai want with me?”
Mao Mao: “…Meow!”
I’m Mao Mao!
Tong Qian couldn’t tell them apart at all. Dai Dai and Mao Mao not only looked identical, but their scents were almost indistinguishable. Tong Qian simply couldn’t tell them apart at first glance.
But that wasn’t important.
Tong Qian said excitedly, “You came at the perfect time. I feel like I’ve improved a lot these past two days. Stay here and watch me perform once more.”
He’s going to sing again?!
The big cats who had come down to watch the spectacle prepared to head back upstairs.
Tong Qian cleared his throat as he spoke, causing Mao Mao to tremble all over.
What? Sing in front of her?
Dai Dai nearly went mad: “Meow… No!”
Tong Qian: ?
Pei Shiyi, who had just come upstairs: !
Dan Huang scurried over, licking Dai Dai’s ear, and exclaimed in delight, “Did our Dai Dai just speak? Did I hear wrong?”
Miss Penny also said happily, “I heard it, too.”
Mao Mao also stared at his sister in shock, pawing at her: “Meow meow meow?” Sister, how can you talk? Did you secretly take extra lessons behind my back?
Fondant was also thrilled, leaning in to ask Dai Dai how she managed it.
Dai Dai hesitated before opening her mouth: “Meow… Brother Tong Qian’s singing is too awful.”
So awful it made the kitten talk.
Tong Qian: …
Tong Qian’s confidence was shattered into pieces by the words “too awful”.
He stiffly turned around, his back to the bustling scene of big cats and kittens, with only loneliness left for him. After all, he was just a big cat who sang terribly.
Tong Qian took two steps and noticed that there was still one fluffy creature who hadn’t gone to congratulate Dai Dai—Yin Zhou.
The large silver-and-black furball sat on the steps. He hesitated for a moment before lifting a paw, then came down to lick Tong Qian: There, there, don’t be sad.
…
On Saturday, the cat café started a live stream before the cats had their lunch.
The time had been scheduled in advance. Even before the stream began, fans had already logged into Bishui Station to wait. As soon as the stream went live, they flooded in.
The opening screen was a beauty overload—
Pei Shiyi smiled at the phone: “It seems to be on already. Can you see me?”
Comments:
“Yes, we can see you! Crystal clear, wow.”
“Boss, you’re an eyelash fairy! I love your eyes so much. Boss, look at me!”
“Dan Huang, Dan Huang! I want to see the shop manager and little angel Song Gao! Where’s the beauty Yun Chao?”
“Please make sure Miss Penny appears on camera!”
…
Pei Shiyi said, “Today’s live stream has three little programs prepared for everyone. We’ll start with the first one—a cat mukbang.”
The cats have their lunch and “afternoon tea” on the first floor during work hours. The first-floor kitchen has a specially partitioned area for preparing cat meals. Pei Shiyi usually handles the two daytime meals, while Bo Jin takes care of the late-night snacks. On Saturdays and Sundays when Bo Jin is off, Pei Shiyi, like the cats, just waits to eat.
“Let’s go to the kitchen first to see today’s lunch,” Pei Shiyi said, walking toward the kitchen with his phone while introducing the cat café to the fans. “This area hasn’t appeared in the videos before, right? If you want to eat something peacefully at the cat café, you can come to the dining area here. The cats usually don’t come over.”
While introducing the place, Pei Shiyi also greeted the cats who came over on their own.
Comments:
“Ahhh, my Dai Dai and Mao Mao are so adorable. They really look exactly alike!”
“Fondant, Fondant! Daddy will play ball with you, okay?”
“Dan Huang, don’t go! Dan Huang, come say hi to me, awoo!”
The viewers in the live stream were going crazy. Many of them had never been to the cat café and could only “cloud-pet” the cats. This was the first time they felt so close to the cats in real time.
Even though it was a live broadcast, the comments were scrolling densely across the screen. Every time a cat appeared, the viewers would go wild for a moment. While indulging in the cats, the audience also sensed the boss’s cat-attracting aura. Is this guy some kind of human catnip? Even cats that were about to leave would suddenly change their route upon seeing the boss and turn around to come over and nuzzle him.
The boss didn’t even need to call their names or actively go to hug them. The cats automatically came to him.
Pei Shiyi walked a few steps, and Song Gao jumped onto his shoulder, nestling against his cheek. Its deep green eyes slowly narrowed: “Meow~” Good afternoon, sir. I also want to see the director.
Pei Shiyi leaned against Song Gao’s little cat face: “Alright, let’s go together.”
One comment stood out brightly:
“The boss is like the kind of catnip that can get ‘cat accidents’ even when walking on the street, right? Admiring.”
Pei Shiyi twisted open the kitchen door, smiling: “What, when did my charm only apply to cats?”
Comments:
“No, it applies to people, too!”
