After making sure he didn’t smell bad, Lu Qingyan entered the room.

Jiang Nanshu sat on the bed watching a rural variety show. Jiang Zhouye was on it, and seeing him just loafing around the whole episode, she shook her head.

“With that kind of attitude, how can he make money? The director must be blind. I suggest they don’t invite him next time.”

Lu Qingyan closed the door, went to get some anti-stretch mark oil, and laughed: “Your Fourth Brother’s job is indeed very lucrative.”

Jiang Nanshu looked at her brother with some disdain. She tossed the tablet aside and, seeing that Lu Qingyan had changed his clothes, asked curiously: “Did you take a shower in the bathroom downstairs?”

“Yeah, I took a shower while I was at it.”

Lu Qingyan paused in applying the oil and looked at Jiang Nanshu.

Jiang Nanshu looked at him, too.

After a long while, Lu Qingyan tentatively touched Jiang Nanshu’s belly again: “The baby seemed to kick me just now.”

As soon as he finished speaking, Jiang Nanshu’s belly moved again.

His eyes lit up with surprise.

Jiang Nanshu had already felt it long ago.

The frequency was still low now; it would probably be more active as the baby grew.

“Hurry up and wipe me, I want to go to sleep early.” Jiang Nanshu nudged Lu Qingyan’s chest with her foot.

Just like that, Lu Qingyan reached out and grabbed her ankle: “Stop messing around.”

Jiang Nanshu pulled her foot back, no longer trying to seduce him.

Ji’s mother was terrified, her face pale as she protectively shielded Jiang Nanshu.

Jiang Nanshu, on the other hand, showed little reaction. She stared at the fake snake on the ground for a few seconds before calmly looking away, without even changing her expression.

A moment later, a blonde woman approached her, picked up the fake snake, and smiled at Jiang Nanshu with a provocative look in her eyes.

“It slipped out of my hand. Did it scare you?”

Jiang Nanshu’s gaze shifted from the fake snake to the woman.

She didn’t recognize the woman, but she seemed to harbor hostility toward her.

Looking at her calmly, she said, “No. I’ve never been afraid of these things since I was little.”

Yu Zhuyin curled her lip in boredom, saying, “This is so boring. I thought you would scream and fall to the ground and kill the baby.”

Upon hearing this, Ji’s mother was furious, “How can you have such a sharp tongue? My daughter hasn’t offended you, has she? Why do you want to curse her to miscarry? She’s already so far along in her pregnancy! Please don’t play such pointless tricks on the sidewalk in the future. What if someone actually gets hurt? That’s life!”

Yu Zhuyin seemed to have heard a joke. Having grown up abroad, she was raised with the survival rules of southern Myanmar; human life was utterly worthless in her eyes.

She laughed arrogantly, “So what if someone dies? Why are you trying to blame it on me? I wasn’t raised to be easily scared.”
