Time passed day by day, and soon, another week had gone by.
Jiang Nanshu ate and slept all day, and even squeezed in time to shoot an advertisement for Fang Minghe. Occasionally, she would run into her old friend Duan Huaiyu, but they only exchanged nods. Duan Huaiyu seemed to be very busy; when he saw her, he would only greet her and then leave in a hurry.
Jiang Nanshu’s gaze lingered on his retreating figure for a second before she followed him away.
Jiang Nanshu had been experiencing severe morning sickness lately. She couldn’t eat anything, which made Jiang’s father look very worried.
Despite hiring many excellent chefs to come to her home, Jiang Nanshu only became thinner and thinner.
Jiang Nanshu came out of the bathroom, wiped her mouth, touched her belly, and sighed.
She never knew that pregnancy would be so difficult. Thinking about the nearly seven months left, she felt a chill run down her spine.
Lu Qingyan had been missing for a week, and she couldn’t get any news of him; it was as if he was deliberately keeping it a secret.
Jiang Nanshu didn’t think too much about it; no news was the best news. She had been sleeping a lot lately and could sleep for a long time each day.
As usual, Jiang Nanshu ate lunch, vomited again, and then went upstairs for a nap.
She didn’t know how long she slept when she felt an itch on her face. She reached out and slapped it, and her palm touched something warm.
She opened her eyes and saw Lu Qingyan holding her hand, smiling at her: “It’s only been a little over a week. Why did you want to hit me?”
Jiang Nanshu rubbed her eyes in disbelief, then realized that the person in front of her was real: “Lu Qingyan?”
“Yes, I’m here.”
“You’re back?” Jiang Nanshu blinked.
Lu Qingyan lowered his head and kissed Jiang Nanshu’s palm: “Yes, I’m back. I missed you so much. I’ll never leave you again.”
Jiang Nanshu sat up, hugged Lu Qingyan tightly, buried her face in his shoulder, and asked in a muffled voice, “What did the police say? Are you alright?”
Lu Qingyan gently patted Jiang Nanshu’s back, his voice soft: “I was acquitted. I didn’t kill anyone, so they have no right to keep me locked up anymore.”
“Then… What about detention?” Jiang Nanshu asked him.
Lu Qingyan smiled: “Being acquitted means I didn’t commit a crime, silly.”
Jiang Nanshu pushed him away and glared at him: “You’re the silly one.”
Lu Qingyan quickly coaxed her, “Okay, okay, I’m silly, I’m the silliest. Our future children have to inherit your intelligence, not be as silly as I am.”
Whether it was a pregnancy reaction or not, Jiang Nanshu felt that the composure she had maintained for the past few days crumbled the moment she saw Lu Qingyan.
She missed him so much.
She thought about Lu Qingyan every night.
He would cook her lots of delicious and healthy food, dry her hair, test the water temperature for her, and wipe her feet with a dry towel. No matter how busy he was at night, he would always come to hold her and lull her to sleep.
She went from having no feelings at first to missing Lu Qingyan’s good qualities later on.
It was a habit, a dependence.
Jiang Nanshu hugged Lu Qingyan again, her voice slightly muffled: “Lu Qingyan, you’ve spoiled me. I wasn’t like this before.”
Lu Qingyan pulled Jiang Nanshu onto his lap, then sat on the bed, smiling at her: “Isn’t this good? Nan Nan, you are the happiest person in the world. Many people around you love you. I love you too, and I will never leave you.”
