Knock, knock—

The door knocked again.

Jiang Nanshu adjusted his facial expression, a gentle smile returning to her face. She opened the door.

“Sister, is there anything else—”

Upon seeing the person at the door, Jiang Nanshu’s words trailed off, her eyes filled with surprise: “Brother Qingyan? What brings you here?”

Lu Qingyan was tall and slender, wearing a brown windbreaker and carrying a khaki bag slung over one shoulder. His hair stood up in the wind, revealing his full, smooth forehead.

His handsome face was covered with a gentle smile, and his beautiful peach blossom eyes sparkled with it.

“Because a certain girl said she missed me. In order to see her as soon as possible, I finished a week’s worth of work in two days, just to see her.”

Jiang Nanshu threw herself into his arms: “Hmph, why didn’t you tell me?”

Lu Qingyan reached out and hugged Jiang Nanshu, unable to hide the smile in his eyes: “I wanted to give you a surprise.”

“I’ve received your surprise. You can go now.” Jiang Nanshu released him, raising her eyebrows.

“I didn’t book a room when I came, so I have nowhere to stay now. Miss Nanshu, could you let me stay for the night?” His voice was clear and cool, like a gently flowing spring, yet it contained an almost imperceptible tenderness.

Jiang Nanshu reached out her hand to him, her bright eyes full of pride: “Okay, but it depends on your sincerity.”

Lu Qingyan raised his hand and placed a diamond-studded crescent necklace on her fair, delicate hand.

“For you.”

Jiang Nanshu looked directly into Lu Qingyan’s eyes and pointed at herself in disbelief.

“For me?”

“Well, I saw it at an auction. I thought it was beautiful, so I bought it. Do you like it?” He said softly.

Jiang Nanshu closed her palm slightly, feeling the coolness of it.

She tilted her eyes, tiptoed, and placed a light kiss on his lips.

“I like it very much. I love you so much, sweetheart.”

Lu Qingyan felt as if his heart had been scalded, burning hot.

“What did you call me?”

Jiang Nanshu blushed, her eyes darting around, afraid to look at him. She stammered, “I, I heard other couples calling each other ‘baby’ and ‘sweetheart’, so I wanted to try it. You, if you don’t like it, I can change it.”

“How embarrassing! I should have known not to call you that.”

Seeing her flustered and bewildered expression, which looked so adorable, softened his heart completely.

“I like it. Can you call me that again?”

Jiang Nanshu raised her almond-shaped eyes, which were filled with water: “Sweetheart.”

“Yes.”

“I want to kiss you.” Lu Qingyan replied.

He lowered his head and kissed her, then hugged Jiang Nanshu’s waist and pushed her into the room.

“Hmm.”

Jiang Nanshu clutched the necklace tightly.

It was already eight o’clock when they came out again.

Jiang Nanshu pointed at her lips angrily, accusingly, “Brother Qingyan, look at my mouth. It’s all swollen.”

“Sorry, I can’t help myself when I see you.” Lu Qingyan apologized obediently.

Jiang Nanshu: “…”

Seeing his polite and serious appearance, Jiang Nanshu was speechless. In reality, his inner self was the complete opposite of his outward appearance.

Lu Qingyan looked up and saw two people standing by the elevator.

He glanced at Su Ran first, then saw her standing next to Zhou Yanbai and looking at him with a pale face. He quickly averted his gaze.

With a cold expression, he greeted Zhou Yanbai, “What a coincidence, Mr. Zhou.”
