ABFMV Chapter 63

If Rong Xia had really allied with the Zerg—

Then it meant that unless he died, everyone present here would have to die.

There was no way Rong Xia would let anyone who knew about his collusion with the Zerg live. That kind of secret would leave a permanent stain on his political career.

No one dared look directly at him. His expression was dark and terrifying, and whenever his eyes slowly shifted toward someone, that person’s face would drain of color and their heart would pound in panic.

The wordless fear spread through the blood-scented silence of the hall.

Despair, like an infection, crept into every heart.

Marshal Xu stared at Rong Xia and asked in an even voice, “So you’ve been the one leaking the military’s intelligence to the Zerg?”

Rong Xia let out a low chuckle. “Sometimes, the enemy isn’t the one to fear. Sometimes, they make the best allies.”

Marshal Xu was silent for a moment. “Why act today of all days?”

Rong Xia blinked. “You can thank your darling daughter and son-in-law for that. If they hadn’t tampered with Carola, I wouldn’t have had to move so soon. But since they were able to control her, it’s only natural they might’ve learned something about me from her. So to be safe, I had to act first—consider it my wedding gift to my dear cousin.”

Xu Linlang stared at him, confusion and disbelief flickering in her eyes. “You’re already the crown prince. Why go this far—why risk everything for power you already have?”

Rong Xia smiled faintly. “Crown prince? That title is nothing but a moving target. There’s no guarantee I’ll actually inherit the throne. Especially not while Rong Xi is still lurking in the shadows, waiting for me to slip.”

Xu Linlang’s eyes sharpened. “What did you do to Rong Xi?”

If he could be ruthless toward Rong Chen, what chance did Rong Xi have?

Rong Xia tilted his head and smiled wickedly. “Why don’t you take a guess?”

It seemed Rong Xi had already met a terrible end at his hands.

Not that Xu Linlang pitied him—Rong Xi had once tried to kill her, after all.

The royal family’s infighting was nothing more than dogs tearing at each other—vicious, pointless, and ugly.

The others who overheard their exchange were frozen in shock. None of them had expected to witness royal blood turning on itself like this.

Now that they knew the truth, their own lives were in danger.

Even if they somehow survived the Zerg attack, Rong Xia would never let any of them live to tell the tale.

Eyes wide with horror, no one dared to make a sound.

Then the sickly young man—who once looked so frail—smiled coldly. Tilting his head like a ghost demanding souls, he said softly, “Well then… I guess this is the last time we’ll be seeing each other.”

The quiet words sent a chill through everyone.

And his meaning was every bit as terrifying as it sounded.

With a flick of his hand, a new wave of Zerg swarmed into the hall, pouring into every corner.

The place was like a fragile box—no matter how many they killed, more kept coming, relentless and overwhelming.

Worse yet, they soon realized these Zerg were far stronger than the ones on the battlefield—faster, tougher, and deadlier.

Rong Xia watched the chaos below him with a look of lazy detachment, as if everything was going exactly as he’d planned.

Humans, compared to the Zerg, were hopelessly fragile. No matter how advanced their weapons or technology, they were still just prey.

His alliance with the Zerg—at least for now—had been the right move.

Just as he was certain that no one inside would last another minute, something unexpected happened.

The savage, bloodthirsty Zerg all froze at once. Their movements stopped mid-attack, their bodies stiff and unnatural, and one by one they lowered their heads.

Rong Xia’s eyes narrowed.

That wasn’t supposed to happen.

There were only two possible explanations for this kind of synchronized reaction: either the Zerg Empress had given a direct order, or a high-ranking Zerg was present.

Neither should have been possible.

Unless—he’d walked right into their trap. The Zerg had set this up deliberately, letting him fight the humans so they could profit from the chaos.

Rong Xia frowned deeply. But even for the Zerg, the benefit of such a plan seemed… questionable.
