ABFA Chapter 47

Garbage Planet 2

The morning whistle sounded at 6:30, and the prisoners in the cell gradually got up.

Jiang Yue had already developed a strict daily routine during her time at the military academy; she would open her eyes at six every morning, so as not to be tormented by Bai Wang’s alarm.

On her first night in prison, she only slept for two hours. In that brief span, she experienced a series of nightmares, waking repeatedly, leaving her mentally exhausted yet completely unable to feel sleepy.

Without Bai Wang’s incessant alarm, Jiang Yue felt a touch of loneliness. Garbage Planet was a place shrouded in gloom, and the prison here was completely sunless. She missed her roommates terribly and longed for the days they had spent together at the military academy.

She rubbed her throbbing head and slowly pushed back the covers. Yesterday, during the fight, a few spots of blood had splattered onto the blanket. She reminded herself not to act so impulsively in the future, if there was a fight, she had to make sure to stay away from her own bed.

The black-skinned Alpha Jiang Yue had beaten mercilessly was the squad leader of Cell 666. Usually, he lorded over the others, bullying his cellmates. His strength had kept everyone silent, but now, with both arms fractured and multiple contusions on his cartilage, the prisoners scattered like startled monkeys. He spent the night lying on the ground in utter misery.

Only a fool would bother to lift him onto a bed.

The prison on Garbage Planet was the cruelest kind of food chain, there was no sentimentality. Whoever had the strongest fists was the one in charge.

As Jiang Yue got up and was about to straighten her blanket, a fellow prisoner eagerly ran over and neatly folded it into a perfect little “tofu block” smoothing the sheet until not a single crease remained. After finishing, he turned to her with an ingratiating smile.

Jiang Yue was stunned.

Really, she didn’t need anyone trying to curry favor. She wished everyone would just ignore her, treat her like air.

She blinked, silently reached under the bed for her toiletries, and immediately another prisoner scurried over, bowing and scraping respectfully. “Boss Jiang, are you going to wash up? I’ll show you the way.”

Boss Jiang? Who is Boss Jiang? Since when did I become Boss Jiang?

Jiang Yue looked down at the male Alpha guiding her.

He had yellow hair and yellow eyes, a lean build, and was half a head shorter than her. His features weren’t bad, slender brows, long eyes, thin lips, a kind of handsome little thug look. But his fawning expression gave off an unmistakable hint of sleaziness.

Jiang Yue rejected him flatly, expressionless: “No need. I can find my own way.”

The yellow-haired Alpha looked at her expectantly and said eagerly, “I can hand you a towel, and when you take a shower, I can even pass you the soap.”

Jiang Yue: “…”

Really, it was completely unnecessary.

When you didn’t know what expression to make, a blank face was the safest option. Jiang Yue kept her face utterly expressionless, so much so that her facial muscles were on the verge of cramping.

Actually, there was no need for a guide, just watching the prisoners carrying water basins made it obvious where to go.

Stepping out of the cell, Jiang Yue twitched her nose. She caught that peculiar scent again, a mix of ore and wood, something she had never smelled anywhere else.

Every place had its own unique smell, and this seemed to be the signature scent of Garbage Planet’s First Prison.

Before entering the prison, the guards had given each of them a meal card. Swiping it at the cafeteria window would allow them to claim breakfast, lunch, or dinner. There was also a store inside the prison, and prisoners’ friends and relatives could deposit money onto the card, though the First Prison would deduct seventy percent.

The food provided by the First Prison was extremely meager. Each person’s breakfast consisted of a single energy bar, a bottle of water, a piece of meat about half the size of a palm, and a wilted apple.

Moreover, each meal card could only be used once in the morning, which meant that no matter how much money was on the card, they could only claim one breakfast.

Life in Garbage Planet’s prison was a little different from what Jiang Yue had imagined. The order here was chaotic. In the short distance she walked toward the cafeteria window, the breakfasts of three prisoners had already been snatched away by strong, burly Alphas.

Jiang Yue’s heart sank slowly, feeling deeply disheartened by such a harsh living environment.

She quickly claimed a breakfast, found a very secluded spot, and placed her tray on the table, trying her best not to draw attention.

But it was useless, hungry Alphas were the type of creatures who wouldn’t even leave a morsel behind.

No sooner had Jiang Yue sat down than a hulking Alpha approached, grinning wickedly as he snatched her tray away.

He raised his chin, one foot planted on the table, looking down at Jiang Yue with a sneer. “Tsk, little brat. You’re young and strong, missing a meal won’t hurt you.”

The prisoners whose food had already been stolen looked sullen, but when they saw a new victim about to be added, their faces lit up with schadenfreude.

Jiang Yue could feel countless eyes on her. If she let this meal be taken, everyone around would know she was easy to bully, and from then on, getting a decent meal would become nearly impossible.

This was called the broken-window effect1The broken-window effect is originally a criminology concept: it suggests that visible signs of disorder, like a broken window, encourage more disorder because people see that rules aren’t enforced..

She refused to be the window that got shattered.

She placed her hand firmly on the tray. The towering Alpha’s expression darkened, his grin growing even more vicious. “What’s the matter, don’t like it?”

Jiang Yue was in a foul mood and didn’t really want to argue. She was already so drained that even speaking would exhaust her.

So she remained silent for a moment and quietly took the apple from her tray.

But the towering Alpha wasn’t satisfied. His massive hand swung violently toward Jiang Yue, and he shouted, “No one ever dares to steal from me, who do you think you are!”

His muscular arm cut through the air like a gust of wind as it barreled toward her. Jiang Yue raised her hand to block.

The Alpha was confident. His arms were noticeably thicker than hers, and in the First Prison, the strongest and biggest muscles determined who was in charge. This tall, lean female Alpha stood no chance against him.

His massive fist collided brutally with the female Alpha’s arm.

With a dull thud, the female Alpha’s arm used to block remained completely unmoved. She lifted her head, her cold gray eyes fixed on him.

The towering Alpha felt a fierce murderous intent radiating from her gaze.

The female Alpha spoke, her voice low and deep, with a strange, mysterious rasp that was just right.

“What a coincidence. I don’t like it when people steal my things either.”

The prisoners watching in the cafeteria didn’t even see how she took flight. In the blink of an eye, the female Alpha had leapt into the air and kicked the towering Alpha square in the chest.

Her movement was so fast, it was like the shadow of a hawk sweeping low across the ground.

The inmates of Cell 666 were impressed by the move, this single kick sent the black Alpha flying more than two meters, landing like a dead dog.

They all closed their eyes in silent respect for the fallen giant.

The gorilla-like towering Alpha was sent flying, crashing through two tables before finally stopping, curling up on the ground clutching his chest like a shrimp.

The female Alpha walked over holding the wilted green apple. She spun it deftly on her long fingers, and before the onlookers had even recovered, she pressed her brows and shoved the apple hard into the towering Alpha’s mouth.

The apple was too large and got stuck between his teeth. A cold smile curved the corners of her lips.

“Don’t like it much, huh? Then you can eat your fill.”

She stepped on the apple and pressed down hard. The towering Alpha’s lips were split instantly, blood streaming down like a small creek.

His eyes widened in terror. The lower half of his face was deformed by the apple, and all he could do was let out choking sounds from his throat, his eyes filled with a desperate plea for mercy as he flailed his huge, foolish head.

Even a warning to others had its limits, but after this, no one would dare steal food from her again.

Jiang Yue’s peripheral vision flicked over the faces around her. She tensed every muscle in her face, determined not to show a trace of fear.

A lion that shows fear gets surrounded by hyenas.

She carried her tray and found a secluded corner to sit down and eat.

The atmosphere in the cafeteria had completely changed; everyone was whispering among themselves.

“Is she a new prisoner? She looks pretty young… how is she so strong?”

“Mo Qi is a black-fist fighter, a heavy hitter. One punch from him is enough to crush a skull, how can he lose to a little brat?”

“Look at her moves, they’re completely orthodox, with that military flavor. She seems like she was trained at an academy.”

“Military academy? Which one? That’s a place for noble kids. If she ended up in our safe zone, her family must have some connections. They were probably cleared beforehand, or she would’ve been sent straight to the mining area.”

Jiang Yue swallowed her energy bar, her ears twitching slightly.

What was the mining area? Why was this called the “safe zone”? Who had cleared the connections for her?

Was the pervasive smell of ore and wood coming from the mining area?

After breakfast, the prisoners were sent to the workshop for labor.

The workshop produced highly delicate jewelry boxes. The prisoners’ main job was to sort out defective items and, at the same time, pack the flawless boxes.

Guards oversaw the prisoners’ work in the workshop. Jiang Yue kept her head down, picking out the defective items from the assembly line and tossing them aside. The moment she lifted her head, a guard in a black uniform appeared beside her.

Uniforms really accentuated a person’s figure. This Alpha had long legs, a slender waist, and a perfectly rounded, firm backside. As he walked past, all the prisoners couldn’t help but sneak glances, licking their lips.

He had an incredibly alluring face; pale skin, slightly upturned red lips, eyes slanting at the corners, and a flush on his cheeks that sparked the imagination. Every line of his expression radiated a sense of decadent indulgence.

Apart from Xi Boyu, this was the first time Jiang Yue had seen such a handsome male Alpha.

But in the current situation, Jiang Yue had no time to admire beauty. Her heart was as dead as ashes; even the most stunning beauty was nothing more than a crimson skeleton to her.

She glanced at the guard once, then lowered her head again, continuing to pack the jewelry boxes.

But the guard stopped in front of her, studying Jiang Yue with keen interest.

Jiang Yue remained unmoved, focused on her work.

Suddenly, a cold hand lifted her chin.

Jiang Yue looked up in surprise. The Alpha guard smiled as he leaned in, his seductive red lips brushing against her ear as he breathed softly. With a teasing laugh in his voice, he asked, “How old is the little handsome Alpha this year?”

A shiver ran through Jiang Yue’s scalp. She leaned back, trying to dodge the guard’s cold fingers, while keeping her face expressionless. “Eighteen,” she said.

The guard pinched her ear with icy fingers, teasing, “What a rude little wolf cub. The First Prison is a place that values manners. You should say, ‘Reporting to the officer, I am 18 years old this year.’”

Jiang Yue gritted her teeth and repeated, “Reporting to the officer, I am 18 years old this year.”

The guard smiled. “Such a well-behaved child.”

He released Jiang Yue’s earlobe, letting his fingertips slide down her neck, his eyes betraying unabashed desire as he lightly grazed her Adam’s apple.

Jiang Yue: “…”

Her heart was dead, but her body wasn’t.

The Adam’s apple, such a dangerously sensitive spot for an Alpha!

Jiang Yue drew a deep breath, planted her feet, and tried to push herself up.

The seductive, stunning guard pressed down on her shoulder with immense force, Jiang Yue’s shoulder nearly collapsed under it.

The guard’s figure was long and graceful, his waist cinched tightly by his belt, making it hard to imagine that someone like him could wield such terrifying strength.

Jiang Yue felt a chill run through her. Panic surged, and when she panicked, her brows instinctively furrowed, her deep-set eyes suddenly radiating a fierce, murderous aura.

A normal person would have already backed off, but the guard wasn’t afraid. Instead, he reached out and patted Jiang Yue’s monk-like bald head, smiling brightly. “Ah, getting angry again, huh?”

A faint scent came from him, strawberry cream, of all things.

Jiang Yue’s lower abdomen tightened, and her breathing instantly became uneven.

—Hungry.

The meager prison meals at the First Prison were hardly enough to fill her stomach. She didn’t even know if someone had pocketed the food allowance.

She had been living in a constant state of hunger for so long that she had almost forgotten what it felt like to be full. Now, smelling strawberry cream, her mouth couldn’t help but water.

She had to swallow her saliva, and her Adam’s apple rolled back and forth with the motion.

The seductive Alpha guard smiled with obvious satisfaction. His hand reached for Jiang Yue’s back, teasingly kneading along her spine. Jiang Yue shivered violently, goosebumps rising all over her body.

“Come to my office tonight. There are some files that need sorting,” he said, rubbing her chin before turning and walking away, baton in hand.
