The rampaging psychic energy produced a violent shockwave that triggered resonance as it passed through human bodies. Victims’ hearts and other internal organs exploded upon contact, and the scale of the tragedy was beyond description.
The incident caused interstellar tremors, prompting the victims’ families to petition the government to execute those responsible.
Families of the deceased police officers and other members of the public organized protest marches. Carrying banners, they loudly demanded that the government regulate individuals with strong psychic abilities and prevent them from entering public spaces.

“Who approved this? Who approved this! How could you use psychic extraction on an eighteen-year-old child?!” The current headmaster of the Federal Military Academy roared in fury.
Lu Geng replied, “The approval documents were forged.” He flicked his long golden hair and spread his hands. “You have no idea how deeply the Zerg have infiltrated our Federation. If we didn’t have their brain worm under our control, humanity would’ve been wiped out long ago.”
Chu Xiao slammed the table. “Don’t tell me no one’s taking advantage of this chaos! Why did the observer we sent to monitor Jiang Yue suddenly get food poisoning? And in just that short window, Jiang Yue was taken away!”
“Her terminal was dismantled and left at home. Our tracking showed she had been in the hotel the whole time. If it weren’t for the psychic explosion at Wutong Street Police Station, we wouldn’t have even known Jiang Yue had been taken!”
Lu Geng said, “Getting angry won’t help. Jiang Yue is a key talent nurtured by the base. She is close to Xiang Liu’s faction and is one of ours. There are probably people who don’t want to see her grow.”
Chu Xiao closed his eyes. “A single oversight amidst so much precaution… poor Jiang Yue.”
Lu Geng shook his head. “Feeling sorry for her won’t help either. Over two thousand lives were lost at Wutong Street, and someone has to answer for them. The public’s anger also needs to be calmed.”
Chu Xiao asked, “Doesn’t anyone at the base protect her?”
Lu Geng replied, “Xi Boyu and Xiang Sui hired the best lawyers for her, and her other roommates bought online trolls to defend her, but it didn’t help much. After all, we all know that with a psychic explosion, intentional malice can never be ruled out.”

Lu Geng patted his shoulder. “Why are you tormenting yourself like this? Deep down, you know better than anyone else; Jiang Yue’s psychic explosion caused permanent, irreversible damage to her brain. Now, even if her physical abilities are slightly better, her psychic power isn’t even on par with an average first-year cadet.”
“Chu Xiao, she no longer has any value for the base’s protection.”
“The base needs geniuses.”
Chu Xiao closed his eyes and cursed, “What about Xiang Liu? What did he say?”
Lu Geng replied, “Xiang Liu hasn’t stepped in yet. Xi Boyu used some connections to save Jiang Yue’s life, but escaping the death sentence doesn’t mean she avoids punishment. She will spend the rest of her life in a prison on Garbage Planet.”
“Is there no miracle?” Chu Xiao asked.
“A miracle?” Lu Geng gave a saintly, angelic smile. “Where would so many miracles come from?”
The special cell provided only nutrient fluid.
When Xi Boyu asked Jiang Yue what she wanted, she said, “I want a candy… strawberry-flavored.”
Xi Boyu brought her the candy. In the stark white cell, Jiang Yue sat cross-legged, playing a game on the console that Kuri had Xiang Sui had sent in.
After a while, she set the controller aside, lowered her head, and fell silent.
Xi Boyu asked, “Is there anything else you want?”
Jiang Yue looked up at him and suddenly said, “Hold me.”
Xi Boyu opened his arms and embraced her. Jiang Yue leaned against his shoulder, tears streaming down her face.
“I heard I’m going to be exiled to the prison on Garbage Planet… that I’ll spend my whole life there. Does that mean I’ll never see you again? Or Xiang Sui, Jiang Sen, Kuri, Bai Wang… If I had known our time together would be this short, I should have woken up every day to buy breakfast for all of you.”
Xi Boyu gently stroked her hair and said softly, “As long as you’re alive, there’s still a chance. I won’t let you stay there forever. Trust me.”
Jiang Yue buried her face in his neck, breathing in the faint scent of roses, and whispered, “Do you think I’m a monster?”
Xi Boyu shook his head. “No. None of this is your fault.”
Jiang Yue’s tears flowed like a faucet. The electronic door of the cell slid open, and Xiang Sui walked in carrying a bag of barbecue.
He set the bag on the table and gestured toward Jiang Yue. “Why are you crying like this? It’s not that big a deal. Just stay put on Garbage Planet. In a few years, once things settle down, I’ll get you out, give you a new identity, and find you a comfortable desk job in the military.”
In truth, Xiang Sui wasn’t very confident himself, but to comfort the sobbing Jiang Yue, he had to put on a brave front.
Jiang Yue wiped her tears. “Yeah, sure… it’s easy for you to say when your lips just touch and words come out.”
Xiang Sui scratched his head. “I never lie. Enough talk, let’s eat the barbecue. Jiang Sen and the others can’t get here, so the three of us will eat first. I even bought a few bottles of beer.”
After a feast, Jiang Yue, despite barely drinking any alcohol, felt drunk.
She leaned against Xi Boyu’s shoulder and began speaking as if leaving a last testament. “Although I haven’t studied much, I know Garbage Planet is chaotic. I can’t even imagine what prison there is like. I’ve heard it’s a paradise for those who thrive in disorder.”
She sniffled. “If I can’t come back alive, if I die there, and if you still remember me, burn me some gold ingots. I want to buy dresses in the underworld.”
Xi Boyu asked, “Gold ingots? What are those?”
Only then did Jiang Yue remember that customs between their two worlds were different. Her heart ached even more, and through her tears she said, “Don’t you people hold funerals for the dead?”
Xi Boyu lightly tapped her head. “What nonsense are you thinking? You’re not going to die.”
Xiang Sui shook his head. “On Beta Planet, we don’t do that. When people die, they’re turned into fireworks, so they shine one last time.”
Jiang Yue said, “That’s kind of romantic. If you don’t find my ashes, then just set off a few fireworks in the sky to remember me.”
“Alright, enough gloom. You’re going to Garbage Planet prison, but the unlucky one might not even be you!” Xiang Sui patted her shoulder.
Three days later, the military tribunal convened. Jiang Yue was exiled to Garbage Planet and sentenced to life imprisonment.
The night before leaving Liyue, Jiang Yue couldn’t sleep. She lay in bed, recalling the moment Lei Xi had used psychic extraction on her, and in her memory, she saw her past self.
