TFRLTOP Chapter 113 Real World 3 Part 2

He left the orphanage soon after.
But he never managed to take Ming Ming with him.

He was tightly controlled and trapped overseas well into adulthood.

Before everything settled, he didn’t dare use any connections to look for her.

Until he finally gained control.

The first thing he did was look for his girl.

What he found… was her death.

When the central system appeared, he agreed without hesitation.

As long as he followed the procedure, she would have a chance to be revived and return to the real world.

His memories were sealed, and he entered the virtual worlds.

But emotion drove him to violate the rules again and again.

He drew closer to her.
Couldn’t bear to let her suffer.
Wanted to save her.

But he had long forgotten how to be normal with people.

Living too high above everyone else for too long, he’d convinced himself that just showing up was already a kind of salvation.

And it made him taste heartbreak all over again.

I was too arrogant, he thought.

My girl… even without me, even living a hard life, she still grew up strong.

I should give her love, money, happiness — not condescending “protection.”

She could live without me.
But I can’t live without her.

After staying at the orphanage for a few days, Gu Qing told her all their “childhood stories.”
Ming Ming wore a face full of disbelief.

“You were that much of a troublemaker. No wonder the director picked on you all the time. But to say he didn’t like you? I don’t think that’s true.”

Ming Ming rested her chin on her hand, conflicted.

“Really?”

He slid an arm around her shoulders.

“How could anyone in this world not like you? Anyone who gets to know you ends up liking you.”

She turned her face slightly, resting on her arm.

“Really?”

“Really.”

Her mood visibly improved.

“Let’s go,” Gu Qing said, extending his hand, smiling softly.
“Let’s go home.”

She stared at his strong, open palm for a moment before placing her hand in his.

He closed his fingers around hers and gave a gentle squeeze.

She nodded.
“Okay.”

But now… it seemed like everything had backfired.

He no longer knew what to do.

Had she grown tired of him? Was she disappointed in him? Had her feelings… faded?

Gu Qing couldn’t imagine—couldn’t endure—a future where Ming Ming asked for a breakup, where they went their separate ways.

How do I make her fall in love with me again?

He rested his chin on his folded hands, dark thoughts spiraling through his mind, almost forming images he didn’t dare face.

Knock, knock.

Someone was at the door.

There was no one else in the house. Only him and Ming Ming.

In an instant, he gathered himself, erased every trace of gloom from his face, and returned to his usual calm. He stared at the screen and cleared his throat.

“Come in.”

The door opened.

Ming Ming leaned casually against the doorframe, holding up her phone. It covered half her face, as if she were recording something.

She was wearing an oversized white shirt—clearly his. The way she wore it was careless and familiar, her sleeves rolled up loosely, her posture relaxed, her presence impossibly distracting.

For a brief second, Gu Qing froze.

Then, without changing his expression much, he calmly removed his glasses, leaned back in his chair, and stood up, walking toward her.

Her eyes flicked toward him over the edge of her phone screen as she watched him approach. Her lashes trembled slightly… as if she were suddenly unsure of herself.

His gaze was quiet and dangerous all at once—cold on the surface, burning underneath.

He gave a soft, breathless laugh.

With one smooth motion, he took the phone from her hand, stopped the recording, and casually tossed it onto the sofa.

“Hey—” Ming Ming’s eyes followed the phone.

“Mrs. Gu,” he said gently, stepping closer, “did you come here just to watch your screen?”

Her back pressed against the doorframe as she lifted her eyes to him.

He placed his hand beside her head and gently kicked the door shut behind them.

Only now did he notice the small decorative chains sewn onto the shirt.

“Let me see what you’ve done to my clothes,” he murmured, hooking a finger around the chain, his voice soft, his gaze anything but.

She finally remembered why she’d come—and what kind of man she was dealing with.

“…Are you trying to provoke me?” he asked lightly, as if truly troubled. “Or were you just… dissatisfied?”

He laughed quietly, as if blaming himself instead.

“Maybe I really haven’t been doing a good enough job.”

She tried to turn and escape, but the door was already closed. He stopped her effortlessly, resting a hand lightly against her wrist, his tone calm and unreadable.

“Running away?” he asked. “Or… is this what you wanted?”

Her tension slowly eased.

She turned back around, leaning against the door, tilting her head slightly.

She pulled him down by the collar of his shirt and brushed a soft kiss against his lips.

“I want a lot of things,” she said, smiling. “Didn’t you say… I could do anything I wanted to you?”

His brow lifted.

“Then… go ahead.”

She stepped closer, her touch gentler now, less teasing, more sincere.

“Carry me back to the bedroom.”

He paused, then smiled faintly.

“As you wish, Mrs. Gu.”

(Fade-to-black transition)

Behind closed doors, the tension between them softened.

Teasing gave way to honesty.

Distance gave way to closeness.

And in the quiet that followed, something fragile and important finally surfaced.

Later, when she was half-asleep in his arms, she murmured:

“Have more faith in me… and in yourself. I really do love you…”

He kissed her softly, holding her as if he were holding the whole world.

“…Okay,” he whispered.

From then on, he finally started to believe her.

After that night, Gu Qing finally felt secure in her feelings. He gradually began to relax and be more like himself.

That was when Ming Ming discovered that, outside of the bedroom, he was even more devious than she had imagined.

She didn’t mind his mischievous side—when they schemed together, it felt like they were children again, getting into trouble hand in hand.

But when he turned that mischief toward her, she definitely did mind.

For example, he casually started showing her ridiculous “challenges” online.

He also developed the terrible habit of wandering around the bedroom without any regard for decency.

Absolutely shameless.

She refused to fall for it again.

So, she developed a new habit—staying out of the bedroom unless it was time to sleep.

Ming Ming took a year off and returned to school for her master’s degree, studying what she loved.

When she graduated and still wasn’t sure what she wanted to do, Gu Qing encouraged her to keep studying.

She had time. Endless time.

And no matter what path she chose, he would make sure she got there.

“Do you think I could go into entertainment?” she asked one day. “Would I make it in film and TV?”

She really wanted to ask: Am I beautiful?

Without hesitation, he said, “If you want to play around with it, I’ll build you an entire team. Scriptwriters, directors, stylists—all of it. A huge production. I’ll turn you into a legend.”

She narrowed her eyes. “That doesn’t answer my question.”

He pulled her into his arms and kissed her.

“My wife is the most beautiful person in the world.”

She melted completely in his arms, dreaming with him about their future.

She was like a little sparrow that had finally soared into the sky—shaking off dust and hardship, revealing her true, brilliant self.

From now on, no more hardship.

Only light.

Only vast, boundless horizons.

And their story…

was still going.
