Ji Chen complained, “Mom, how can you call this a meal? It’s all half-cooked food that others helped prepare.”
Yu Tian said, “How can this not be called a meal?”
As she spoke, she was adding sautéed squid tentacles to the pot and tossing them with the seasoning.
“You’re still not satisfied, you little brat! I only cook once every six months, and you’re going to have to lick the plate clean for me!”
Ji Chen scratched his head, wanting to tell the truth but afraid to. After a moment’s thought, he said, “That’s because Dad has a filter for you. In fact, your cooking skills are not even as good as the chef’s.”
Yu Tian rolled her eyes. “It’s good enough that it’s edible. Didn’t you see your godmother never cook at home? She’s even worse.”
After all, she was a food blogger, so why did she look like nothing to this little brat?
When Yu Tian mentioned her godmother, Ji Chen’s mind automatically flashed back to the moment he’d tasted Qu Rongrong’s pineapple fried rice.
Ah… That was truly…
If he hadn’t been so strong, he would have been rushed to the hospital right away. That’s why they say that human cooking skills aren’t universal.
Yu Tian’s cooking skills aren’t top-notch, but her strength lies in her willingness to experiment. She always tries different dishes, unlike her husband, who has only cooked a few since they first met, a number you can count on one hand.
The thought of Qu Rongrong filled Yu Tian with joy. She even hummed a song and improvised pineapple fried rice. After finishing, she beautifully plated it and took a photo to send to her best friend.
Then she put her phone aside and continued with her recipe.
She also wanted to bake coffee-flavored cookies and longevity noodles.
After Ji Tang finished drawing her own cake, she volunteered to knead the dough. Yu Tian added tomato juice to the dough, giving the noodles a beautiful reddish hue.
Over there, Ji Chen baked a very easy-to-make cheese cornbread, which Yu Tian loved. It was this dish that had soothed his mother when he got into trouble.
It even made Ji Tang think that, while her brother might be unreliable, he would definitely be a good boyfriend in the future.
Making broth was the family chef’s specialty, and it was the base she was going to use for the noodles.
The broth had been made the entire day yesterday, using a variety of delicious ingredients like chicken, duck, ham, and abalone. Even when it was taken out, it wasn’t hot, yet it still had a tangy, fresh aroma.
Yu Tian put the dough her daughter had kneaded into the pasta machine, but after a moment’s thought, she didn’t turn on the heat.
Noodles won’t taste good if left to the end. She’d do that later.
After finishing her own work, she went back to check on their cakes.
Half was fiery red, and half was light blue. The light blue resembled the sky, dotted with white cream clouds. Below, green grass and red flowers covered the ground, and four stick figures ran hand in hand.
On the fiery red side, two little figures were boxing, while the remaining two, wearing bows, sat there and cheered.
Yu Tian thought that the cake was adorable and took out her phone to take another photo.
Finally, she made mango sago pudding, and the siblings made a refreshing vegetable salad platter. The family’s dining table was quite large.
Mrs. Ji took a closer look and decided to discard the table. She brought in a small one from the living room of her main house, perfect for the four of them, each with a side.
According to the timetable, Ji Hefeng should be back by then.
Ji Hefeng knew that it was his birthday. He had originally planned to kidnap his wife yesterday, since they were already out. But things didn’t go as planned. Ji Tang had to go filming and tricked his wife back.
