Feng Guang glanced down at her bare feet. Once fair and clean, they were now dirty and covered in small cuts. When she caught a glimpse of herself in the mirror, she nearly wanted to cover her face in shame.
Her clothes were filthy, her hair a complete mess. After just dealing with a woman who acted like a madwoman, she couldn’t help but wonder—how did that man, Xu Wang, manage to keep a straight face and still call her a “beautiful young lady”?
She sat on the bed, feeling downcast. Tomorrow, she’d have to ask Number One if he could help her find some clean clothes. As for tonight… she might as well just go to sleep.
The next morning, when Number One brought breakfast and heard her request, he said he’d look around. About ten minutes later, he returned with a set of clean clothes and a pair of shoes.
There weren’t any women here, so obviously there were no women’s clothes. Feng Guang looked at the white shirt, black slacks, and the pair of little black leather shoes. They didn’t exactly match her sense of style, but with no other option, she put them on after showering.
The shirt and pants were both oversized on her. Looking at herself in the mirror, she noticed the shirt sleeves hung past her hands, and the pant legs bunched up on top of her shoes. It looked ridiculous—clearly, whoever these belonged to was much taller than she was.
Without hesitation, she rolled up the sleeves and pants legs, then tied her hair into a ponytail. There. That looked more put-together, more normal.
She was here to find Ye Mo, so she couldn’t stay in the room forever. First, she needed to get a sense of the layout. After leaving her room and slowly making her way down ten floors, she finally arrived, panting, in a wide courtyard. Unfortunately, she ran right into Xu Wang, who was standing there talking to his subordinates.
She had no choice but to approach him, awkwardly greeting, “Warden Xu.”
“Miss Xia…” Xu Wang raised an eyebrow in surprise. “That outfit looks pretty good on you.”
Her petite frame was practically swimming in the oversized clothes. Not just “not bad”—she looked downright adorable.
Feng Guang gave an embarrassed smile. “These clothes… they’re kind of big on me.”
“I wasn’t expecting that either. I mean, I was fourteen when I wore those—and they’re still too big for you.” His tone was casual, but the implication was clear: you’re even shorter than I thought.
Feng Guang latched onto one detail. “Wait—these are your clothes?!”
“Is that surprising?”
“Well, no…” she mumbled, tugging at the hem of the shirt. Her face was starting to heat up, her heart racing.
Just then, a man being escorted by two soldiers spoke up. “A female Omega…”
The man was covered in injuries, blood staining his white prison uniform. His noble golden hair was disheveled and dirty, but his handsome Western features were still apparent. He was being held up by two guards, and when he saw Feng Guang looking at him, he licked his lips with a wicked grin and greeted her with ill-intentioned charm.
“Hello, gorgeous lady. I’m Cecil.”
Feng Guang didn’t respond. Instead, she quickly stepped behind Xu Wang. Cecil might’ve been attractive, but he gave off the same vibe as one of those beautiful sirens from Western myths—using their looks and voices to lure sailors in, only to drag them underwater and drown them.
By contrast, the gentle yet authoritative Warden Xu felt far more trustworthy and safe.
