“Brother, stop laughing!” Fengguang bit her lip. “We need to clean this up now. I don’t want the first time I see you after so long to end with you getting arrested again!”
“There’s no need to worry. Someone else will take care of it.” Ji Mian pulled out another clean handkerchief and gently wiped the blood off her hands. The red stood out starkly against her pale skin—he didn’t like that. He gave a charming smile and asked casually, “Why is Fengguang out before school’s over?”
“I… I thought class was boring, so I…” —she’d skipped school. For once, the usually struggling student looked a little embarrassed. But she quickly remembered the urgency of the situation. “Brother, I’m serious! It’s almost time for school to let out. What if someone walks by and sees this? Stop talking to me like it’s no big deal—can we please just get this cleaned up?”
“You’re really that scared I’ll get caught?”
She nodded frantically.
“Fengguang… aren’t you afraid?” Ji Mian’s voice dropped lower, turning hoarse. “I killed someone.”
“Then he must’ve done something wrong. You wouldn’t kill someone for no reason.”
Ji Mian froze. The corners of his eyes softened, revealing a rare tenderness. “Fengguang, don’t you think… You trust me a little too much?”
“No,” she said firmly. “No matter what you do, you must have your reasons. I mean… yeah, I know killing someone is scary. But if you were locked up in prison, that would be even scarier. Brother… prison is a terrifying place. I heard that in prison, good-looking guys like you might get… well, you know. Anyway, I just don’t want you going there!”
The vague “you know” made Ji Mian pause for a moment. Even at his worst, he certainly wouldn’t be that one.
He bent his finger and lightly flicked her nose. “What kind of nonsense are you imagining? I’d only ever do that with you. That’s a promise I made to you.”
Her cheeks flushed pink. “Then… in all these years, have you never… been with any other woman?”
“If you mean sex, no—I haven’t.” Seeing the question still lingering in her eyes, he added, “Not with a man either. Rather than be with anyone else, I’ve always preferred using my right hand, lying in bed, staring at your photo, and whispering your name. That’s pleasure enough for me.”
Her face turned crimson, practically steaming from the heat.
A man and a woman flirting beside a dead body—there was no easy way to describe such a bizarre scene.
Meanwhile, two large men who had been sent to clean up stood frozen at the entrance to the alley, hesitating. Should they go in? Technically, yes—they’d been ordered to clean the scene. But if they interrupted the boss and his little sweetheart… the consequences could be worse than failing the mission.
Luckily, the boss’s “little sweetheart,” dressed in a school uniform, finally spotted them.
Fengguang immediately stepped out of Ji Mian’s arms and yanked him behind her, trying—despite her small frame—to shield him from view.
“I killed him! He has nothing to do with it!” she shouted.
“Fengguang…” Ji Mian started.
“Shh—” Fengguang turned and whispered urgently, “Brother, don’t talk. I’m Dad’s daughter. Even if I get locked up, he’ll get me out soon enough.”
