Shen Yao looked at the wild fruit trees ahead. There were wild jujubes, chestnuts, and persimmons. Since no one had ever picked them before, many fruits still hung on the branches.
Although these wild persimmons weren’t large, they were very sweet. Without hesitation, Shen Yao climbed the tree and began picking the fruits. The more she looked, the more she craved them. There were several persimmon trees here. She would give some to Xiao Qiu and her family when she got home and make the rest into dried persimmons.
In short, she let nothing go to waste. She stored all types of wild fruits into her space before leaving contentedly. She had covered an entire mountain in one day, going wherever there were things to collect, and she was really exhausted. So she entered her space to rest.
…
Waking up in the space the next morning, Shen Yao found that she had regained her energy and felt pretty good. She prepared to explore another mountain range.
Xiao Ling saw her master changing clothes and knew she had recovered. “Master, are you about to leave?”
“Yes. I plan to explore another mountain today.”
After all, she had already covered the previous mountain. She only had a few days left, so she needed to use her time well. She had a strange feeling that something in the deep mountains was calling out to her.
“Alright, I’ll use my divine sense to scout ahead. That will make things easier for Master.”
“Okay, thanks Xiao Ling!” Shen Yao stroked Xiao Ling’s feathers, then left the space and headed towards the next mountain range.
Standing at the entrance to the mountain range, Shen Yao took a deep breath of the fresh air. The scenery of this mountain was much more beautiful. She felt she would have a different kind of harvest here. Then she began the day’s exploration.
It had to be said that this mountain was much richer in resources than the one from yesterday. She could say she had a very fruitful morning.
She collected quite a few medicinal herbs, mostly common ones, but she also dug up several ginseng and reishi. In one area filled with thick vegetation, she found a large amount of wild yam. She also picked plenty of wild mushrooms and wild vegetables.
Shen Yao found a place to rest. She was exhausted this morning, constantly picking things and hunting prey. But seeing all the harvest, she felt it was worth it.
At noon, she sat by a patch of grass and roasted a wild rabbit. As the aroma grew stronger, soon a golden-brown rabbit was ready. Shen Yao picked it up and started eating. Mmm, it was delicious! The skin was crispy and the meat was tender. She had sprinkled her homemade spices on it, and the flavor was simply amazing. Just as she was eating with great enjoyment, Xiao Ling’s voice interrupted her.
“Master, something is running towards you!” Xiao Ling’s voice sounded. She had detected a furry little dog approaching. Her intuition told her that this little dog threatened her position, so she had to make her master stay away.
“Xiao Ling, are you kidding me? Do you know what it is?” She had barely eaten half of the roasted rabbit. Couldn’t she just enjoy her meal in peace? Interrupting a foodie’s mealtime was very immoral.
Xiao Ling flew frantically around the space. That unknown little puppy must not be allowed to meet Master. Knowing her master, if that little puppy appeared, Xiao Ling would immediately fall out of favor.
“Master, a group of large predators is coming. Leave here quickly!” She didn’t want to fall out of favor. Why did a random wretched dog have to appear? It’s outrageous!
Shen Yao was filled with doubts. Xiao Ling’s tone clearly didn’t sound like there was any real danger. Besides, she didn’t feel anything unusual. In the past, if danger were approaching, her body would react abnormally. So what was Xiao Ling really up to?
She ignored Xiao Ling’s shouts and released her mental power. There was nothing within a 300-meter radius. Just as she was about to withdraw her mental power, a furry little wolf cub appeared.
Awoo~ So small! Completely white as snow. So cute! She wanted to hold it in her arms and pet it. Shen Yao’s eyes went wide as she watched the little wolf cub approach step by step. It was just too adorable.
“Master, how can you be like this? You can’t adopt it!”
Xiao Ling was nearly in tears in the space. Her master was so bad. She had known this would happen. Besides being someone who was a fan of good looks, nice hands, and pleasant voices, her master also had a soft spot for furry things. Whenever she saw them, she couldn’t bear to let them go.
“So, Xiao Ling, this is what you call a group of large predators?” Shen Yao’s face darkened. This was clearly a super adorable little white wolf cub. How was that a group of predators?
“Hmph, Master, if you dare adopt it, I won’t talk to you for half a year. No, a whole year!” Xiao Ling didn’t care. She had to do everything possible to stop this, or her position was doomed.
“Ahem! Xiao Ling, let’s make a deal. Whether I adopt it or not, you’ll always be number one in my heart, really.” Shen Yao felt that if she didn’t come to an agreement with the little phoenix, she would never let her keep the cub.
“Really? You’re not lying to me, a spirit beast?” Why did she feel a bit doubtful?
“Really. Truer than pearls,” Shen Yao thought to herself, even if it weren’t true, she had to say it was, otherwise negotiations would fall apart. After all, she had no resistance to the little furry white wolf.
“Hmph, I’ll reluctantly accept that. If Master is lying, I’ll roast it directly,” Xiao Ling said miserably. She still felt like her master was deceiving her.
Just as Shen Yao was about to reply to Xiao Ling, she saw the grass beside her rustle, and then a furry little white wolf ran out.
Awoo! The little white wolf finally ran over to Shen Yao and began acting coquettishly.
“Ah! So cute!” Shen Yao picked up the little white wolf and held it in her arms, pressing her face against its pure white fur. She was so happy. She had always loved furry pets like this since she was a child. She rubbed the little wolf’s head. “Little one, where are your parents?”
Wu! Wu! The little white wolf struggled out of Shen Yao’s arms, then bit her pant leg and pulled forward.
Shen Yao watched its action. Was it trying to make her follow it? Was this little white wolf this smart? “Do you want me to follow you?”
Awoo! The little white wolf responded and continued biting Shen Yao’s pant leg and pulling forward. But it was so tiny it couldn’t pull her at all and ended up tumbling over.
Pfft! Shen Yao found this little white wolf incredibly cute. Without hesitation, she began to follow it. She wanted to see where this little creature was trying to take her.
“Xiao Ling, scan this mountain. Is there anything hidden that you can’t detect?”
Shen Yao strongly suspected there was. She had felt something strange earlier, that there would be a surprise on this mountain. Now that a little white wolf had suddenly appeared, her guess seemed correct.
“Master, I already scanned the entire mountain range earlier. There was nothing unusual.” Xiao Ling found it strange too. Could there be some kind of formation blocking its scan?
