Fengguang said, “Osiris has been dead for a thousand years. There isn’t even a body left. How could you possibly bring him back?”
“Of course you wouldn’t know.” Yan Luo smiled arrogantly, as if she had been favored by a god. With a look of infatuation, she said, “Osiris came to me. He was handsome and all-powerful. He told me I was the divine messenger he had chosen on earth. He granted me the highest honor.”
Wen Xian frowned. If he had previously considered Yan Luo a dangerous person, he now thought she was a dangerous lunatic. “Osiris is dead. After founding Osiris Academy, he chose death to follow Tobias.”
Osiris possessed endless life, but Tobias was only human. A hundred years later, Tobias was laid to rest, and Osiris, as if he had lost all interest in living, chose to destroy himself.
This part of history exists in both vampire records and among vampire hunters.
“What do you know?” Yan Luo suddenly shouted, her emotions flaring. “Osiris only lost his body. His soul was never destroyed. He’s still in this world, still by my side. He isn’t dead. Soon, I’ll make it so he can stand beside me again! As long as… I kill enough purebloods.”
Her gaze fell on Fengguang. Fengguang saw the madness in her eyes and took a step back. It was hard to imagine that Yan Luo had slaughtered so many pureblood nobles all those years ago simply because she believed killing them would awaken Osiris.
Fengguang asked in confusion, “Who told you that killing enough purebloods would make Osiris wake up?”
“Lord Osiris himself told me.” A dreamy expression appeared on Yan Luo’s face, like a young girl in love. Overjoyed, she said, “On my sixteenth birthday, he appeared before me. He said I was the most perfect woman he had ever seen. He told me I shouldn’t devote my life to the cold affairs of my family. I should do something more meaningful—stand by his side and help him lead the vampire race to greater power. He would be the king of the new world, and I would be his most loyal follower, his most trusted queen.”
Fengguang really wanted to say, Are you sure you didn’t just dream about Osiris? The man had been dead for a thousand years—reduced to dust. How could he possibly appear in front of her, perfectly intact, and have such a long conversation?
But thinking it over…
Fengguang stroked her chin. Yan Luo’s bloodline had already been extremely noble. If anyone could have deceived her, perhaps it really would have to be someone on Osiris’s legendary level.
“Honestly, why am I telling you all this?” Yan Luo lifted a hand to the corner of her eye—a habit from years ago, smoothing the skin after she smiled. With a bright grin, she looked at Wen Xian. “Handsome boy, be good. Hand over the girl behind you, and I won’t kill you.”
“You think that’s possible?” Wen Xian let out a light laugh, showing no intention of backing down.
Fengguang thought to herself that Yan Luo was a figure out of legend; Wen Xian might not actually be her match. She tugged at the hem of the boy’s shirt in front of her. “Wen Xian, you should leave first. I’ll deal with her.”
