Feng Guang’s mouth twitched. She was starting to think Yan Luo might actually be insane.

Wen Xian spoke up. “Since you’re Yan Luo, where is Zeng Xue?”

“She’s sleeping, of course.” Using Zeng Xue’s body, Yan Luo seemed somewhat dissatisfied. “This human girl’s body is so scrawny. How could it possibly compare to my former elegance?”

Feng Guang obediently stayed behind Wen Xian and asked curiously, “Why are you inside Zeng Xue’s body?”

“It won’t hurt to tell you.” Yan Luo placed a hand over her chest and said leisurely, “My heart is inside this body. It was only a matter of time before I awakened within her. Though this body isn’t perfect, I don’t have much of a choice. I’ll just have to make do.”

Yan Luo’s ability was to control blood. Correspondingly, her own blood was unique—it held a fatal attraction for other vampires.

That was why, some time ago, Zeng Xue’s blood had caused the students of Division A to collectively lose their reason.

Wen Xian said, “You know the Elders’ Council and the Hunters’ Association showed up today because of you.”

“Of course I know. Otherwise, why would I suddenly come to see this little girl?” Yan Luo replied sweetly.

Wind began to gather in Wen Xian’s hand. Soon, a long sword formed from blades of wind took shape. Calmly, he said, “If you want to touch her, you’ll have to get through me first.”

Yan Luo smiled brightly. She didn’t rush to attack. Instead, she walked to the window and looked outside. Softly, she said, “Take a look. There’s quite a show going on out there.”

Instinctively, Feng Guang looked. A surge of low-level vampires had suddenly appeared outside. Students in white uniforms were running frantically. Some were separated from the group and quickly became prey.

“You’re insane!” Feng Guang shouted. “Those are ordinary humans!”

“Thanks to those ordinary humans, the old men of the Elders’ Council and the lapdogs of the Hunters’ Association will be just a little distracted,” Yan Luo replied lightly.

Sure enough, once the chaos broke out, members of both organizations rushed in from all directions. Students from Division A joined the fight as well. Though the low-level vampires weren’t very powerful, their strength lay in their sheer numbers. If the battle dragged on, the advantage would eventually shift to them.

Smiling, Yan Luo said, “You’re too young to understand. Sometimes, sacrifices are necessary for success.”

“What exactly is your goal?” Feng Guang demanded coldly. “Six hundred years ago you slaughtered purebloods, and now you’re inciting another massacre. You can’t possibly be doing all this just because you enjoy killing.”

“Of course not. I hate the sight of blood.” Yan Luo sighed, sounding almost troubled. “But to bring the great Osiris back to life, I have no other choice.”

Feng Guang stared at her in shock. “What did you say?”

“Didn’t you hear me? I’m going to bring the great vampire progenitor, Osiris, back into this world. With him here, our bloodline can truly become the masters of this world.”

When Yan Luo spoke those words, her expression was solemn, her eyes shining with fervor. She wasn’t merely mentioning the name “Osiris.” She was speaking of her god—a god she intended to summon into the mortal world to usher in a brand-new era.

Feng Guang couldn’t understand. Yan Luo had once been hailed as a genius among the pureblood nobility. She should have been wild and free-spirited—not like this, transformed into a fanatic devoted to Osiris.
