That day, no one knew what Song Wuxia and Baili Mo talked about.

All that was known was that when Song Wuxia emerged from the Eastern Palace, his expression was terrifyingly cold. No one dared approach him, and no one dared ask any questions.

And so, that secret meeting at dusk became something known only to Song Wuxia and Baili Mo.

The hunting day arrived soon after. By Baili Min’s order, both Baili Mo and Fengguang were required to attend.

Fengguang rose early that morning and changed into a neat, practical outfit. When she looked into the bronze mirror and saw the red kiss marks on her neck, she cursed Song Wuxia under her breath for being such a scoundrel. Every night he would sneak into her sleeping quarters and only leave at dawn. Because of his furtive behavior, she never got a proper night’s sleep, and her body was left with more than a few telltale marks.

Blushing, she thought of the phrase “nights of endless revelry,” then hurriedly adjusted her collar to cover the marks on her neck. When she stepped out of the room, she saw Baili Mo, who had clearly been waiting for some time.

When Baili Mo saw her come out, a faint smile appeared on his face.

Fengguang felt awkward all over. She slowly walked over and said apologetically, “Sorry, I took a bit too long.”

These past few days, she and Baili Mo had been seeing each other constantly—it was impossible not to run into him. To be honest, as someone with a conscience, she did feel a trace of guilt. But when it came to feelings, Fengguang had never been indecisive. Once she made a choice, she would not change it lightly.

“No need to say more.” His fingertip slowly traced her palm as he calmly wrote, “I already know.”

Fengguang was startled, but she quickly understood. Given Song Wuxia’s brazen behavior, it would have been stranger if no one knew. What truly surprised her was something else. “Your Highness… since you know, don’t you feel… angry?”

He shook his head and wrote again in her palm: “Fengguang has always belonged to Song Wuxia.”

She looked up at him, completely unable to understand what he meant by that.

Baili Mo only smiled. He let go of her hand and gestured with his eyes that it was getting late—they should depart.

He clearly did not wish to say more. Seeing that further questions would be useless, Fengguang nodded and followed him out of the Eastern Palace. At the palace gates, they joined Baili Min and his entourage.

By Baili Min’s side stood the National Preceptor, Xuán Hú, as well as Song Wuxia and Xia Chao. Of those last two, Fengguang didn’t dare look at either one.

She was afraid Song Wuxia would lose all sense of propriety and come over to touch her openly, and she was also afraid her father, Xia Chao, might not be able to restrain himself, pull out a blade, and chase after her while shouting, “You’ve disgraced the family!”

Fortunately, neither of those things happened.

Fengguang rode her horse and obediently stayed by Baili Mo’s side. The hunting grounds were in the mountains, not far from the palace. She had no idea what madness had seized Baili Min to want to go hunting in such hot weather. It would have been one thing if he alone had such “refined interests,” but he had to drag everyone else along as well, forcing Fengguang—who would much rather have stayed at home—to come out in the sweltering heat.

Fengguang looked at Song Wuxia riding ahead of her. Just from his back on horseback, he looked dashing and free-spirited. She howled inwardly: a man this handsome is actually mine!
