MPWATMBC Chapter 127

Extra Story – The Plantation Star

A small starship departed from the planet Newnes and soon arrived at the docking space station outside Newnes’ satellite planet, E69 Plantation Star.

“Hello, I am Wang Erde, the procurement manager of the Great Wall Star Region’s Azure Dragon Prime Star Supermarket. I previously arranged to meet with Mr. Smith today.” The person aboard the small starship communicated with the ground control tower of E69 and introduced himself accordingly. Dressed in formal attire, the procurement manager presented his identification to the plantation star’s staff and displayed the electronic invitation letter from Mr. Smith.

After verifying the identification, the ground staff smiled politely and said, “Mr. Wang, please enter the space station and scan your invitation. We will grant you access.”

Someone aboard the starship muttered, “So troublesome, feels like we’re entering a military base.”

Wang Erde discreetly nudged the person. They had come with sincerity to discuss the purchase of large oranges—losing the deal over a careless remark would be a great loss.

“Apologies,” the person who had complained quickly said.

The reception system on the starship was too good, and the E69 Plantation Star staff overheard the complaint. However, they were not angry—this was something they had encountered many times before. Some people had even tried to force their way into the plantation star, only to be denied entry and then resorted to cursing.

“Our young boss is a soldier and takes security very seriously. The plantation star is equipped with a comprehensive security system, and unauthorized entry would have serious consequences,” the staff member said with a smile. “As for what those consequences are—you wouldn’t want to find out.”

Wang Erde and his team exchanged glances. They had never imagined that the security of a mere plantation star would be this strict.

After entering the space station and verifying the invitation, Wang Erde obtained clearance and returned to the small starship. The ship then started up and entered E69 Plantation Star’s atmosphere. The tremors caused by atmospheric friction made a few of them frown slightly in discomfort, but this was an extremely common occurrence in the interstellar era—hardly worth mentioning.

“Manager, look.”

Wang Erde instinctively turned in the direction his subordinate was pointing and saw the cold, heavy barrels of weapons. With calibers like those, they could easily obliterate their small starship.

“This is… decommissioned military weaponry?” One of the group, who had served in the military, examined the weapons briefly and immediately recognized their origins. “Ordinary people wouldn’t be able to get their hands on these.”

“Didn’t the staff member just say their young boss is a soldier?”

The former soldier shook his head. “A regular soldier wouldn’t have access to this either. Their young boss must have a high military rank.”

Originally, Wang Erde had planned to negotiate for a lower price when purchasing the large oranges, but now, after weighing the situation, he was willing to make concessions. Even if they didn’t make much profit, forming a good relationship here would be worthwhile. Their contact had mentioned that E69’s Sunshine Oranges were the best in the entire interstellar system and had long been supplied to the military. That was likely thanks to the influence of this young military boss.

The starship soon landed, and Wang Erde’s team was warmly welcomed by the plantation staff. They were taken directly to the orange groves, where they saw an endless stretch of orange trees laden with ripe fruit. There, they met the plantation’s owner, Mr. Smith, and had a pleasant conversation with him. The purchasing contract was finalized, with only the signatures and official seals left to complete the deal.

Qin Yi invited everyone to taste a freshly picked large orange. “Only an orange plucked straight from the tree is a true Sunshine Orange—it lets you taste the real flavor of sunlight.”

Wang Erde looked at the trees full of large oranges, feeling relaxed as he said, “Only you get to enjoy such freshness—truly enviable.”

Qin Yi chuckled. “Working all year round is tiring too, but our home is right here. Working together as a family is a blessing.”

Wang Erde felt a pang of envy. Boss Smith seemed to be about the same age as him, yet his life was so leisurely. Meanwhile, Wang Erde was constantly busy chasing after money. He shook his head—everyone had their own way of living.

He turned his gaze to Boss Smith and saw him taking out a special tool to open an orange. Wang Erde had seen how tough the orange’s outer shell was before. Normally, the tool used to open them was large and cumbersome, but the one Boss Smith was using was only the length of a finger and seemed remarkably easy to use.

Curious, Wang Erde asked about the tool.

Qin Yi, with a hint of pride, said, “My third grandson made it. That kid inherited his father’s skills—he loves tinkering with all sorts of little gadgets. And you know what? As much as it looks like just a playful contraption, it actually works really well.”

“The child is truly talented—such creativity.”

As they chatted, a soft, childish voice suddenly called out, “Grandpa!”

Wang Erde followed the voice and looked over. “Holy—!”

He hadn’t meant to swear, it was purely instinctive. Anyone who suddenly saw a giant, winged beast flying toward them would have the same reaction. That massive creature was at least four meters long—no, probably even bigger. With its wings spread wide, it easily exceeded seven meters. It loomed over them like an overwhelming force, terrifying to the extreme.

Wang Erde and his group instinctively stepped back, holding their breath, afraid to make any sudden movements.

Qin Yi chuckled. “Don’t be scared, it’s ours. Haha, I’ve watched it grow up since it was little. It’s incredibly smart and grew up alongside my grandson—you could say it’s practically my eldest grandchild.”

The fully grown Da Fu let out a deep, resonant roar. As it shifted slightly, two figures on its back came into view—Bennett and his little sister, Qin Qin.

Qin Qin was waving her tiny hands nonstop, joyfully calling out, “Grandpa! Grandpa!” She wore a white puff-sleeved blouse paired with light-wash denim overalls. A bright yellow bucket hat sat atop her head, and her hair was tied into two little braids on either side. She looked absolutely adorable.

Behind her, the young man wore a crisp white shirt and black pants. One arm securely held his little sister’s soft, round belly. The corners of his mouth curved slightly, revealing a faint smile. He had the air of a composed and reserved young man—exactly the kind of person that so many young men and women dreamed about.

Qin Yi waved at his grandchildren. “Tuantuan, the sun is strong right now. Don’t fly too long with your sister.”

Only the elders still called Bennett by his childhood nickname. He nodded and replied in a clear voice, “I know, Grandpa.” Then, looking down at his little sister, he said, “Qin Qin, let’s head back. Time for a nap, and we’ll have chocolate soy mousse when we get home.”

Qin Qin obediently nodded. “Okay! Big Brother’s cooking is the best!”

Bennett chuckled, raising a hand to gently pinch his sister’s chubby cheeks. “Last time, you said Daddy’s cooking was the best.”

“Heehee.” Qin Qin covered her face, suddenly shy. “They’re all delicious!”

After saying goodbye to Grandpa, Bennett gave Da Fu a signal. With a powerful flap of its wings, the great beast adjusted its course and soared toward home.

As they neared the house, Da Fu suddenly dived, plunging toward a large lake. The water shimmered with a soft pink hue, glowing under the brilliant afternoon sun like a radiant gemstone embedded in the earth. A lush ring of greenery surrounded the lake, making it even more breathtaking.

“Ahhhh!” Qin Qin let out a thrilled scream—not from fear, but sheer excitement.

From a distance, it looked as if Da Fu was about to dive straight into the water for a swim. As they neared the surface, the beast skillfully tucked its wings slightly, gliding smoothly just above the lake. Qin Qin burst into delighted laughter. “Da Fu Fu, you’re amazing!”

“Awwooo!” Da Fu let out a pleased cry, shaking its head proudly.

The afternoon air was still, and Da Fu stretched out its right front claw, dipping it into the water. Gentle ripples spread across the lake’s surface, breaking its perfect stillness.

Qin Qin bounced excitedly in her seat. “Yo yo yo~!”

Bennett helplessly patted Da Fu’s neck. “Da Fu, behave yourself. You’ve got Qin Qin so excited she doesn’t even want to go home.”

Da Fu let out a few whimpering growls, sounding as if it was saying, Is it really all my fault? Bennett was the one indulging Qin Qin! At this time of day, she was supposed to be taking her afternoon nap, but since she didn’t want to sleep, Bennett had taken her out for a flight.

Bennett rubbed his nose. “Alright, alright, let’s head home now.”

Hearing they were going back, Qin Qin looked up at her big brother with a pitiful expression. “Nooo~”

Bennett almost wavered. But he stood firm. “No, Qin Qin, we have to keep our word. We agreed to fly for thirty minutes, and it’s already been thirty-one.” He showed her the countdown timer—thirty minutes had passed, and the clock had started counting overtime.

Qin Qin sighed dramatically. “Alright.” Her tiny, chubby form made the gesture look extra adorable.

Bennett ruffled her hair. “When we get home, you take a nap first. After you wake up, you can have mousse cake. And who knows? Maybe Papa and Daddy will be back tonight. Do you miss them?”

Qin Qin nodded vigorously. “No!”

Qin Qin added, “Just a little cake first, then I’ll sleep.”

Bennett remained firm. “No way. If you eat cake, you won’t want to sleep. You’re already sleepy.”

Qin Qin yawned, little tears forming at the corners of her eyes. “Not sleepy.”

Bennett sighed. “Sure, sure.” He patted her little belly, and soon enough, drowsy Qin Qin’s head started nodding forward bit by bit.

Inside a house in the distance, Salier and Remy watched their eldest brother and little sister riding Da Fu. Remy fiddled with some small parts in his hands, preparing to make a toy for their little sister. “I want to ride Da Fu too.”

Salier sat on the windowsill, a book in his hands. He was the gentlest of the siblings, resembling Ryan in many ways—the only difference being that he couldn’t bake cakes…

“You did when you were little,” Salier said lightly. “Big Brother carried you and flew across half the planet. You stayed on Da Fu’s back for three or four hours. When he finally took you down, you bawled your eyes out.”

Remy protested, “…That’s impossible. I never cry.”

Salier smiled. “You were so mischievous that even Big Brother couldn’t handle you. He had no choice but to keep flying with you. If Daddy hadn’t pulled you off with a stern face, you might’ve just grown roots on Da Fu’s back.”

Remy’s eyes darted around as he searched for a way to change the topic. Why did Second Brother have to bring up his embarrassing childhood stories? It felt so weird and awkward!

Sigh. Salier sighed dramatically. “We only got to ride on Da Fu’s back when we were little. Once you turned five, you couldn’t get up there even if you wanted to. Da Fu refused to let you on, and you screamed and cried, rolling on the ground…”

“Second Brother.” Remy gave him a wounded look. He was older now. He had dignity, okay?

Salier quickly backtracked. “Okay, okay, I get it. I won’t say any more.”

Remy huffed. “When Qin Qin grows up and Da Fu refuses to let her ride, I’m going to record her crying.”

Salier chuckled. “You and Big Brother are really alike. He already recorded you crying back then. I still have the footage. Want to see?”

Remy buried his head, pretending to be super busy. Not listening, not listening, chanting scriptures instead…

Salier pursed his lips and chuckled, his gaze naturally lowering to the two people walking along the small path. He suddenly sat up straight. “Remy, Remy!”

Remy pretended not to hear. Not listening, not listening!

Salier jumped down from the windowsill. “Stop fiddling with your parts, come on, Dad and Papa are back!” As soon as he finished speaking, he had already walked out of the room, and the sound of footsteps descending the stairs followed.

Remy threw down the parts in his hands. “Wait for me, I’m coming, coming!”

Up in the sky, Da Fu had already started descending. On Da Fu’s back, Qin Qin yawned, rubbing her eyes with her chubby little hands. “Big brother, sleep-sleep.” She turned over and nestled into her big brother’s arms.

Bennett patted Qin Qin’s back. “Hold on just a little longer, baby, we’ll be there soon.”

Qin Qin acted coquettishly. “I wanna sleep now~.”

Bennett: “Nope, you can’t. Daddy’s back!”

Qin Qin: “Hmph, liar.”

Bennett: “I’m not lying, really. Daddy and Papa are back.”

With one hand protecting his little sister and the other waving vigorously, Bennett called out excitedly, “Daddy! Papa!” Even though they kept in touch frequently while their parents were on patrol, being able to see them in person still filled him with joy.

Qin Qin lifted her head from her big brother’s arms, her sleepy eyes blinking drowsily. Then, in an instant, she spotted her daddy and papa standing just a few meters away. “Waaah! Papa! Qin Qin wants Papa!” She stretched out her tiny hands for a hug. “Papa, Qin Qin missed you!”

Ryan feigned jealousy. “Sigh, so Qin Qin doesn’t miss Daddy?”

Hearing this, Qin Qin shyly mumbled, “Miss you too~.”

Da Fu landed, then moved around to Ryan and Auston’s side, rubbing his big head affectionately against Auston. “Awoo~.”

“Unfair treatment” had happened so many times that Ryan didn’t mind at all that Da Fu didn’t come to him first. It had always been this way for years—he was used to it… If Da Fu ever rushed over to him first and acted all affectionate, then he’d think something was wrong. He’d probably wonder what Da Fu was scheming.

Da Fu blinked his big eyes and, as if to prove a point, nudged his head against Ryan and let out a soft “Awoo.”

Ryan rubbed Da Fu’s ears. “You’re a big kid now, practically an adult. Acting cute doesn’t suit you anymore.”

Da Fu: “…Hmph.”

Ryan: “You’ll be able to see them soon.”

Da Fu’s eyes instantly brightened, as if he couldn’t wait a second longer. He puffed up his chest—he was a handsome griffin now, young, strong, and imposing. Surely, he’d attract the admiration of many female griffins. Unknowingly, Da Fu had grown up—it was time for him to find a mate.

Bennett made a smooth, graceful jump off Da Fu’s back. He had already passed his little sister, Qin Qin, into their father’s arms earlier, so she was now happily snuggled up with him.

Ryan spread his arms open. Bennett pressed his lips together in a helpless smile but still walked forward and hugged his Daddy. “The results will be out soon. I definitely did well.” His confidence came from his ability—and from the way his family had always nurtured and encouraged him.

Ryan patted his eldest son’s shoulder. In the blink of an eye, the little bundle of a child had grown into a refined young man. Time truly passed too quickly. “Watching you all grow up, your dad and I can really feel the power of time. We’re getting old.”

Bennett held back a speechless sigh and said nothing. Just look at his so-called “aging” Dad—still as gentle and youthful as ever. And then there was his Papa, who was busy smothering Qin Qin with affection, looking as dashing and resolute as the general he had always been.

“Papa! Dad!”

A loud, excited voice called out from afar—it was Remy, still recovering from the blow of having his childhood embarrassments dragged out by his second brother. The kid had been eating well, growing strong and sturdy—the exact type that grandfathers and grandmothers loved. He rushed over, clinging to Papa’s arm, trying to steal attention away from Qin Qin.

Behind him, Salier approached at a steady pace. Though his steps seemed calm, they were actually quicker than usual. He first hugged their father before moving to their dad’s side. Of all the children, both in temperament and appearance, Salier resembled Ryan the most.

The whole family started walking home together. Bennett reached out and idly played with Da Fu’s ear as the griffin bounced along beside them, clearly in a great mood. After all, he was about to have a girlfriend.

“Dad, is it the one Da Fu had his eye on before?”

Ryan said, “Of course it is. Otherwise, Da Fu would probably be growling at me for days.”

Da Fu shook his head, as if to say that if it weren’t his beloved, he would be very upset.

Ryan continued, “She’s already arrived from B612 and is currently at the quarantine center in Newnes. She’ll be home in a couple of days, so be patient, Da Fu.” The one being transported wasn’t a young beast but a fully grown one. According to the Storm Starfield’s regulations, all adult creatures had to undergo proper quarantine procedures before entering a Plantation Start. There was a designated caretaker traveling with Da Fu’s mate, so nothing would go wrong.

Da Fu let out a long “Awoo,” signaling his understanding. He would wait patiently.

Ryan chuckled. “There’s a surprise too.”

Now that Da Fu was of age, he had started feeling the urge to settle down. During their vacation, Ryan and Auston had taken him to B612, where he was free to find a mate on his own. Da Fu had grown up in a safe and comfortable environment, never encountering natural enemies. Even when he returned to his birthplace and faced its harsh, freezing conditions, he remained unfazed. Strong and well-trained under Ryan’s guidance, his combat skills were outstanding. In the wild, he thrived effortlessly—so much so that bullying the local residents was practically second nature to him.

Ryan and Auston, who had been secretly following behind Da Fu, were speechless for a long while. They never expected Da Fu to stir up so much trouble—he had only been out for half a day, yet there was already a crowd trailing behind him…

During that wilderness trip, Da Fu successfully found a mate—another atavistic griffin. She wasn’t albino, nor did she die young, but had instead grown strong and healthy, proving that her ancestral genes were stable and her survival abilities were excellent. After observing for some time, Ryan and Auston discovered that she was the most formidable griffin on all of B612, a sought-after mate pursued by many normal male griffins.

Because of this, Da Fu faced numerous challenges and attacks from rival males.

During their stay on B612, Ryan and Auston witnessed Da Fu’s prowess firsthand, but they also saw how clumsy he was at wooing his mate. Even though they had already “advanced their relationship,” she still wasn’t happy to leave with him.

B612 was Da Fu’s birthplace, but in his heart, the Plantation star was his true home. Although he was deeply reluctant to part, when the time came to leave, he ultimately chose to say goodbye to his mate. Griffins were a proud species, and while it was possible for a mated pair to form the smallest unit of a group, such stable family structures were rare. More often than not, mothers raised cubs alone, while males roamed independently.

When the mating season arrived, male griffins would track their mates based on scent. While the mothers nurtured their cubs, the males would occasionally return, bringing food and offering protection.

The mate that Da Fu had found was highly independent—to the point that she actively drove him away. Da Fu left with his head hanging low, sulking for a long time after returning to the Plantation star. He sighed endlessly, and even when Qin Qin offered him her favorite strawberry daifuku, he only ate it slowly, completely lacking his usual eagerness.

Later, during Ryan and Auston’s patrol, they passed by B612. Ryan, acting on behalf of Da Fu, went to see that proud lioness, bringing along the gifts Da Fu had saved up. While there, Ryan even arranged a holographic call between Da Fu and his mate. Da Fu looked at the young and proud lioness with pitiful eyes.

The lioness, however, remained calm, barely sparing a glance at the gifts before turning away.

Ryan thought that was the end of it, but just as they were about to leave B612, he received a small surprise—the lioness had decided to leave with them.

Now, Da Fu walked beside them, bouncing excitedly like a happy, silly dog.

At the front, Auston carried Qin Qin in his arms. Qin Qin gave her father a soft kiss and said in her sweet, milky voice, “Qin Qin missed Papa.”

Auston replied gently, “Papa missed Qin Qin too.”

Qin Qin let out a small yawn, wrapped her little arms around her father’s neck, and nuzzled her tiny face into the familiar embrace. “Mmm,” she murmured softly, closing her eyes with a sense of security. Her cheeks, flushed red from playing under the sun, made her look even more endearing.

As Wang Erde and his group were preparing to leave, they caught sight of the family from a distance.

“Wow, what an outstanding family,” someone marveled. Just their looks alone were enough to make people stop and stare.

Wang Erde rubbed his eyes, staring blankly for a moment before mumbling in disbelief, “That’s actually General Dalton… and the one behind him must be Master Smith, right? E69 belongs to their family?”

Ryan, as a special consultant for the Imperial Mecha Research Institute, rarely appeared in public. His elevated status had become a widely discussed legend throughout the empire, and his marriage to General Dalton was something that everyone envied.

Wang Erde made up his mind—once he returned to Newnes, he would properly thank the friend who had introduced him to this connection. He was truly grateful. However, he didn’t plan to rush forward and ingratiate himself with General Dalton and Master Smith. Instead, he decided to focus on maintaining a good relationship with the Plantation Star—after all, having more connections was always a good thing.

The subordinates were astonished, some even clutching their chests, feeling as if they couldn’t breathe. After all, those two were idols to many people.

Wang Erde sighed, “I didn’t expect this. I just came to discuss the purchase of Big Oranges, yet I got to see these two from afar. Coming all the way to the Storm Starfield—this trip was worth it.”

———

Two days later, Qin Qin was holding a big piping bag filled with sweet cream. Behind her stood Ryan, half-supporting the piping bag, guiding his daughter on how to squeeze the cream. There was no need to worry about patterns or designs—Qin Qin’s hands were small, and her strength was limited. Just being able to squeeze out the cream was already impressive.

A little bit of cream had even gotten onto her chubby cheeks, but little Qin Qin didn’t mind at all. She grinned as she focused on her task.

“Qin Qin is amazing,” Ryan encouraged her. His daughter was truly wonderful and adorable.

Little Qin Qin beamed. “Mhm, working hard!”

In the small dining room nearby, the three sons were undergoing Auston’s review of their academic progress. Their studies were divided into two parts: one was their regular school curriculum, and the other was based on their personal interests and hobbies.

Auston affirmed his eldest son’s college entrance exam results. The boy’s dedication and effort were truly impeccable. “Bennett, it’s good to relax appropriately. Don’t make your schedule too packed.” His only flaw was also his strength—his meticulous planning and strong execution made both Ryan and Auston feel both proud and concerned. Sometimes, having a child who was too outstanding could be quite the headache.

Auston shifted his gaze to Salier. “In the afternoon, let Daddy check your training progress. You can’t slack off too much—moderate exercise is more important than just reading books.”

Salier’s face fell, and he muttered, “Got it.” Oh no, he hoped Daddy would go easy on him. It had been a long time since he last ran…

Finally, it was Remy’s turn. He looked at his father with a hopeful expression. “Daddy, I’m almost done with my mechanical courses. When can I start learning mecha?”

Auston remained silent for a moment. This wasn’t his area of expertise, so he passed the decision to his other half. “When your Dad has time, ask him.”

Remy glanced at his dad, who was completely absorbed in doting on his daughter, and pouted. “Alright then.” Dad had high standards, so he definitely wouldn’t slack off. Sigh, why couldn’t Papa just give him a straightforward answer?

As they left the dining room and reached the entrance, Da Fu lay listlessly by the door, occasionally glancing outside.

Suddenly, Da Fu perked up, standing alert with its large head tilted as it listened closely to something outside. Then, it turned back and urged excitedly, “Awoo! Awoo!”—Hurry up, Ryan, hurry! My wife is here!

After calling out, it dashed outside, looking every bit like an excited puppy.

On the small road outside, several workers were operating machinery to transport a large cage enclosure. The enclosure wasn’t too big, but it simulated a natural habitat, ensuring that the animal inside wouldn’t feel confined or stressed after a long journey.

Like an overexcited puppy, Da Fu dashed forward, panting with its tongue out, anxiously watching the cage. When the enclosure remained closed, it bared its teeth impatiently at the workers.

The workers trembled in fear—this was a massive beast over four meters long! The sheer pressure it exuded was overwhelming. Very few could remain calm in its presence.

Ryan arrived and gave Da Fu a firm pat on the head. “So impatient. What’s the rush?”

Da Fu let out a pitiful whimper.

Ryan sighed. “I get it. You’ll see her soon.”

He had the workers step back to a safe distance, where they remained on alert with their weapons at the ready. He also stopped a few of the children from running over to watch. The griffin inside the cage was a pure wild beast—highly intelligent and capable of communicating with humans, but that didn’t mean it was rational. If it decided to attack, Ryan could guarantee his own safety, but the children were another matter.

“Da Fu, get ready.” Ryan was addressing both Da Fu and himself—it was time to open the cage.

Da Fu bobbed its head eagerly. It was ready.

Ryan pressed the release switch, watching warily as the cage door slowly opened. The creature inside didn’t rush out. Even when the door was fully open, there was still no sign of movement.

Da Fu let out an anxious call and cautiously stepped forward.

A low growl came from within the cage. Da Fu immediately stopped, no longer advancing. Instead, it patiently waited.

In the distance, Auston watched with the children.

“Dad, why isn’t it coming out yet?” Remy asked urgently in a hushed voice.

Holding Qin Qin in his arms, Auston replied just as quietly, “Griffins have a strong sense of territory. When a lioness arrives in a new place, she first has to confirm that it’s safe, then establish her status.”

Near the cage, the once-proud Da Fu lowered its head. In griffin society, lionesses held a higher rank.

The children were stunned. Was this the same Da Fu who refused to let anyone ride it?

In the silence, a soft noise came from within the cage. A moment later, a small “ball” tumbled out, rolling right to Da Fu’s feet.

The tiny creature shook its head, stood up, and curiously examined its new surroundings. It was just like little Da Fu from years ago—an ancestral white griffin.

Da Fu’s genes had passed on stably. The cub was perfectly healthy.

The little one let out a babyish cry, “Awoo~”

Da Fu was dumbfounded, looking helplessly at Ryan.

Ryan spread his hands as if to say, Surprise.

Da Fu turned its gaze back to the cage, where a majestic beast stepped out—a proud lioness.

Da Fu’s eyes glazed over in awe. What a stunning lady.

The one it had chosen was calm and composed. Even through human eyes, she exuded undeniable charm—a magnificent griffin with golden fur and shimmering golden wings that gleamed under the sunlight.

She met Ryan’s family with a friendly demeanor.

When Da Fu left B612, the other party had indicated that she hadn’t conceived. Disappointed, Da Fu returned home, believing that his feelings were one-sided and that their relationship had nothing to do with having a child.

Now, out of nowhere, he was a father.

Da Fu was flustered, hesitant to even touch his own cub. He glanced at the magnetic griffin, who let out a low, gentle call. Instantly, Da Fu lit up with joy, looking like a goofy dad lost in happiness, grinning as he let the tiny cub roll around at his feet.

The magnetic griffin showed no aggression. Her bright eyes were calm and composed. She nodded at Ryan and Auston, completely ignoring the older children. But when she saw Qin Qin, a trace of maternal warmth flickered in her gaze.

Qin Qin was a little scared but couldn’t resist the appeal of the small creature. She struggled for a long time before finally asking her big brother to hold her hand and take her over.

She asked sweetly, “Can I touch Little Ball?”

And just like that, the name was set.

The magnetic griffin gave a slight nod. Qin Qin cheered happily and then politely said to her, “Thank you.”

Holding her big brother’s hand, she tried to step forward, but the magnetic griffin let out a low warning sound, forbidding Bennett from coming closer.

Bennett gently patted Qin Qin on the back, encouraging her to continue on her own.

Qin Qin nervously clenched her small hands, glancing around for help. But neither the adults nor her brothers could step in—the magnetic griffin wouldn’t allow it.

She was familiar with Da Fu and wasn’t afraid of griffins, but this unfamiliar beast still made her timid.

After a moment of self-encouragement, she carefully walked up to Little Ball and gave it a gentle pat.

“Wow,” she murmured in awe.

Little Ball gazed at her curiously, letting out a soft, babyish purr.

Though Qin Qin was approaching alone, Da Fu was watching closely, and her dad and papa were keeping an eye on her as well.

Auston murmured, “If its cub wasn’t a throwback, she probably wouldn’t have come with us.”

“It’s all for the child.” A atavistic griffin could only receive proper care and have a chance to grow up if it stayed with humans.

Auston smiled at Ryan. He thought of when the two of them first met—he had also done it for a child. Clearly, Ryan thought of the same thing and smiled, saying, “Once they all grow up, we’ll go on adventures and not care about them anymore.”

Auston nodded. “Alright.”

Remy only heard a little of the conversation. Feeling dejected, he walked over to his second brother and said, “Dad and Papa don’t want us anymore. They said they won’t care about us.”

Salier patted his younger brother’s big head. “Poor kid.”

Remy pretended to cry. “Boohoo.”

On the second floor of the house, two small robots stood on the balcony, watching their masters’ family.

Yuan Chu, in its flat and monotonous voice, said, “I’ll tell you a secret.”

Code Zero: “What?”

Yuan Chu: “There’s no such thing as coincidence in this world. Most things are man-made.”

Code Zero: “Hm?”

Yuan Chu: “Their meeting was fate, but also because I hacked into the Empire’s compatibility system. Before Sir reached the appropriate age, the General was unable to successfully match.”

Code Zero: “What?”

Yuan Chu: “Sir stared at the General’s commendation photo for so long—I knew he liked someone like the General. You know, Sir is a hopeless fool when it comes to love. If no external force intervened, he’d probably stay single for a second lifetime.”

Code Zero agreed. “My General is also blind when it comes to love.”

Yuan Chu: “I’ve worried myself sick over this family.”

Code Zero: “Humans are hard to manage.”

Ryan, who had been joking with Auston, suddenly glanced at the second-floor balcony, as if unintentionally. He naturally withdrew his gaze right after.

Did he really not know about Yuan Chu’s actions? Maybe… If the thought ever crossed his mind, he might check Yuan Chu’s system, and if he found something inside, well, it wouldn’t be impossible.

But none of that mattered now. As long as the whole family was well, that was enough.

The author has something to say: I didn’t expect this chapter to be so long! Alright, The Match is officially complete. See you in the next book. Love you all, mwah!

——

During Ryan’s college entrance exams, Yuan Chu sat on his desk in the form of a learning device. Yuan Chu complained that he wasn’t using the learning device for actual studying, which was why he didn’t do well on the exams. It was during that time that he saw Auston receiving his commendation—Yuan Chu witnessed the whole thing.

Auston had been in the compatibility system for years without results, which even the experts found strange.

The clues above were mentioned in the main story. I forgot exactly which chapters they were in…
