Yesterday, Yan Qing came out of Zhaozhao’s room and expressed her thoughts to them.
Initially, the family refused her, but Yan Qing calmly laid out each point and used the argument that she could learn better with a tutor to counter all their objections.
So today, Yan Qing simply dragged Zhou Huaiya to school to complete the paperwork.
Since the Chu family is a major shareholder in the school, donating quite a bit of money, it was straightforward; Zhou Huaiya could handle it herself. However, Chu Heng also hurried over, showing their level of importance to Yan Qing.
Chu Heng was deeply impressed. Yan Qing is truly a good child, showing gratitude!
Meanwhile, Yan Qing herself remained the calmest in the situation.
Despite Teacher Zhang’s objections and doubts, he couldn’t stand up to the Chu family. Since Yan Qing was adamant, he had no choice but to process her paperwork, allowing her to study at home.
“Every monthly exam time will be sent to your phone. You must come on time, or I’ll make a home visit,” Teacher Zhang said sternly.
Yan Qing nodded obediently, smiling brightly. “Thank you, Teacher.”
“Alright, it’s done,” Teacher Zhang said, finishing up.
Yan Qing took her paperwork and went back to class to gather her things, then went to the dormitory to collect her belongings there as well.
Carrying a stack of textbooks, Yan Qing got into the car.
Zhou Huaiya sat beside her, hesitating for a moment before speaking when the car stopped at the Chu family’s gate. She said, “Qingqing, you should go get registered for household registration tomorrow. You’re like my daughter now.”
Yan Qing smiled faintly, shaking her head. “Auntie, you don’t need to do this. This was my decision from the start. Besides, being at home isn’t bad for me. The living conditions are much better than at school.”
Zhou Huaiya wanted to say more, but Yan Qing cut her off. “Auntie, let’s head back first. I’ll need your help to find other tutors.”
The previous tutors could only come on the same days they had off, but now, she needs to study seven days a week.
Zhou Huaiya nodded eagerly.
Once they returned to the Chu family home, Zhou Huaiya immediately took her laptop to post job listings. The previous recommendations were from students balancing work-study, which didn’t align with Yan Qing’s new schedule.
Yan Qing went to her room to clear a space for a desk.
At that moment, the housekeeper, Aunt Zhou, said, “Qingqing, Madam asked me to clear out the third floor for your study. Go take a look and see what else you need?”
Yan Qing’s eyes lit up with anticipation. She wasn’t shy, taking her backpack and heading up. “That sounds great. I was thinking my room wouldn’t be convenient for studying.”
Aunt Zhou smiled. “The desk is new. Madam said she didn’t want to disturb you, so she set you up on the third floor. It’s peaceful.”
Yan Qing climbed the stairs and saw a quiet room with a desk in the middle, a tatami mat by the window, and a bookshelf along the wall. The bookshelf was empty, waiting for her to make a list and they would buy the books, with all the necessary supplies like a computer, notebooks, pens, and other tools already provided.
Chu family had gone all out for this; Yan Qing felt a bit guilty.
She was willing to study at the Chu family home primarily due to the school’s demanding pace, which was getting overwhelming, and she needed to keep Zhaozhao from harming himself.
As she was moved by this, a voice called out downstairs: “Yan Qing!”
The clear voice carried strength, prompting Yan Qing to hurry outside. She saw Zhaozhao looking up at her from the first floor, with Zhou Huaiya standing beside him. Seeing Yan Qing, she smiled warmly and said, “Zhaozhao, see? Mom didn’t lie to you. Qingqing is right here at home, don’t worry about her leaving.”
Zhaozhao hesitated for a moment before nodding.
Seeing his response, Zhou Huaiya’s smile widened. When Yan Qing came running down, she was overjoyed: “Zhaozhao just acknowledged me.”
Yan Qing walked behind Zhaozhao, pushing his wheelchair. She tilted her head and said softly, “Zhaozhao will get better and better. Auntie, don’t worry.”
Zhaozhao leaned comfortably against his wheelchair.
Zhou Huaiya nodded vigorously, changing the subject. “I’ve already posted the job listings. Hopefully, we’ll have applicants soon. For now, just self-study.”
“Okay,” Yan Qing responded, turning to Zhaozhao. “What do you want to do?”
Zhaozhao yawned. “Sleep.”
Yan Qing blinked, checking the time—it was just 10 AM.
Qin Zhen said, “He had a burst of inspiration last night and kept painting until 6 AM. He just woke up.”
Yan Qing understood, took Zhaozhao upstairs, helped him settle down, and then started her own studies.
With Zhou Huaiya’s substantial monetary incentives, several tutors quickly came in for interviews. Yan Qing tested them all and chose three, handling weekday sessions herself while the previous tutors covered weekends.
Zhou Huaiya was surprised, asking, “You don’t want any time for yourself?”
Yan Qing shook her head. “There’s no fun in playing. Studying is more fun.”
Zhou Huaiya didn’t say much more. She knows her daughter wants what she wants. After Yan Qing said that, even when Zhaozhao called her, Zhou Huaiya tried to keep him from shouting, guiding him upstairs so he could watch her through an open door.
At first, Zhaozhao resisted, but Zhou Huaiya insisted Yan Qing stay with him. Gradually, he gave in, willing to communicate—mainly so he could go to her if needed.
With the first exception made, the rest followed suit under Yan Qing’s guidance—they could communicate normally.
By nearly half a year, Zhaozhao was able to have regular conversations with Chu family members.
With Yan Qing around, Zhaozhao didn’t have sudden outbursts of irritability or go out of his way to harm himself just to make himself feel better.
The atmosphere in the Chu family noticeably improved, and Yan Qing’s status within the family grew, to the point where Zhou Huaiya almost considered elevating her to god-like status.
