It had been many years since Qingli had last attended school, and she could hardly remember.
But now, she was a sophomore, and as a student, it was expected that she attend class on time without any special circumstances. Yet, she was late.
The Pei family was not the original owner’s family, and no one called for her.
For some unknown reason, most of the Pei family’s servants tried to ignore the original owner, except for the kitchen aunt. The original owner had tried to please the Pei family by learning how to cook, and the aunt took pity on her; they had spent enough time together to become somewhat familiar.
The original owner had been late before because her alarm clock had run out of battery and no one called for her.
As a result, she had to walk to school.
But now, things were different. Although Qingli was flustered from sleeping in, she immediately used the Pei family’s landline to contact driver Uncle Li and asked him to come pick her up.
This time, Uncle Li didn’t hesitate at all and agreed readily.
Qingli hadn’t reported to him the day before, so Uncle Li was very grateful and spoke to her with great respect, showing no signs of impatience.
Holding the sandwich and milk that the kitchen aunt had given her, Qingli arrived at school at 8:30, halfway through the first period.
The teacher was somewhat displeased, but since Fu Qingli was usually a well-behaved student, he didn’t say much: “Come in.”
Qingli’s face turned slightly red as she quickly returned to her seat.
Her deskmate, a lively girl, looked surprised: “Fu Qingli, you’re late?”
Qingli whispered, “My phone got water-damaged yesterday, so my alarm didn’t go off.”
Her deskmate sympathized: “That’s terrible.”
“Fifth-row girls, pay attention when you come to class!” the teacher said sternly.
The two exchanged glances and quickly lowered their heads, pretending to read.
Qingli rubbed her forehead, feeling a bit awkward. It had been too long since she’d been in class, and she had responded out of habit. However, her heart was strong; after a brief moment of discomfort, she quickly got back into the lesson, following along and recalling what she had learned before.
After the first period, her deskmate asked, “Want to go to the bathroom?”
Qingli nodded, feeling a bit bloated from the milk she had drunk in the car.
The two girls linked arms and headed out. The bathrooms were located on both sides of the teaching building’s stairs. This was a private high school, boasting not only well-paid teachers but also luxurious facilities. The bathrooms, for example, were very clean, devoid of any strange odors apart from disinfectants and incense.
However, as they entered the bathroom, they were met with several familiar figures—heavily made-up girls wearing their uniforms poorly, showing off beautiful and sexy camisoles underneath. They parted the crowd as they walked by, making others instinctively avoid them.
Qingli’s eyes flickered, and her hands itched to act.
Seeing Fu Qingli looking unscathed surprised Min Ying and the others. They exchanged knowing glances, silently agreeing on their intentions, and formed a wall of people moving towards Qingli.
Her deskmate nervously pulled Qingli aside.
“Hey…” the girls grinned as they blocked their path, cheerfully saying, “Don’t leave yet.”
The bathroom was large and crowded, but many girls who had come to use the facilities noticed something was off and proactively made way, leaving a gap in the middle.
“What do we do?” her deskmate turned pale.
Qingli pulled her hand away and pushed her aside: “You go to the bathroom. Don’t worry about this.”
Her deskmate’s eyes widened in admiration, but she didn’t dare to resist and lowered her head to leave. She wanted to find a teacher!
“Stop!” Min Ying shouted, and her deskmate froze.
A girl moved over to close the door, coldly saying, “Use the bathroom as you please, I’ll open the door before class starts.”
The others quickly found spots, crowding together with their friends, anything to avoid being outside.
Her deskmate was pulled away by a friend she recognized.
Once everyone had dispersed, Min Ying exchanged glances with the other girls and approached Qingli, inspecting her closely. She smiled, “So how did you get out yesterday? You were quite lucky.”
Qingli smiled back, “I just walked out.”
“Not bad,” Min Ying gave a thumbs-up that seemed like praise, but in the next second, her hand turned into a slap coming toward Qingli, saying harshly, “I’ll make you stay here all night!”
However, the anticipated slap didn’t come. The girl who usually cowered with her head down suddenly glared, swiftly grabbing Min Ying’s wrist as her hand came down. In one quick motion, she kicked Min Ying in the chest, and even while holding onto her arm, she didn’t let go.
The force of the kick and the pull on her arm created a powerful tug-of-war. With a loud crack, Min Ying let out a pained scream as all her strength drained away.
At that moment, Qingli finally released her grip. Min Ying stumbled back, quickly covering her arm, but it was already too late; she couldn’t raise it. In terror, she shrieked, “My arm is broken! You broke my arm!!!”
Her deskmate, hiding in the stall with a worried look, was almost in tears: “What should we do? Do you have your phone? I don’t…”
“Who would dare? If Min Ying and the others get caught and know who told the teacher, we’re finished.” Her friend covered her pocket, unwilling to make the call.
Hearing this, her deskmate burst into tears, scared out of her wits. She regretted bringing Fu Qingli to the bathroom.
Just then, a sudden scream echoed from outside.
She flinched, about to sympathize with her deskmate, but then she realized something was off—the voice… wasn’t Fu Qingli’s?!
The others who were hiding also froze, exchanging bewildered glances, their eyes wide with surprise, silently questioning: Did she fight back?
The next second, angry shouts erupted from the group of girls outside: “You’re asking for it!!!”
Her deskmate took a deep breath, truly shocked—Fu Qingli fought back?!!!
Ahhh!
Fu Qingli was so cool!
After taking care of Min Ying, the remaining four girls charged at her, grabbing her hair and scratching her face in perfect synchrony. Fortunately, Qingli had anticipated this. After releasing Min Ying, she swiftly retreated, using her elbow to strike another girl in the chest: “Ah! Damn! That hurts!”
“Come on, do you dare to hit me?”
“What are you all still doing?!”
The girls cursed as they rushed in, but Qingli had already backed up to the bathroom’s storage area. She opened the door and skillfully pulled out a mop, sneering, and with a swift swing, she brought it down with a loud thud.
“Ah—” Qing Li swung the stick again, and the cries of pain echoed continuously.
This time, the girls who initially wanted to pull her hair or grab her clothes were too scared to extend their hands. They hugged their heads in despair, only focusing on avoiding her strikes.
Qing Li fixed her gaze on them fiercely. There were five of them, and she didn’t intend to let any of them go. After finishing one, she moved on to the next. If anyone tried to grab her, she would hit again.
Bang! Bang! Bang! The sound of the stick hitting flesh resonated. Qing Li’s expression remained cold, but the anger in her heart eased a little.
These girls had bullied the original owner in high school. If it weren’t for them, the original owner wouldn’t have become so extreme and radical in her behavior. They were a group of scoundrels who relied on their numbers to bully other girls.
The original owner wasn’t the only victim; there were others as well. Qing Li didn’t know if they would receive their comeuppance in the future, but she would make sure they faced the consequences now!
The five girls, who had started out shouting and cursing, were now left without the will to fight back. They cried, snot and tears mixing as they huddled together in a corner, ignoring the dirt around them.
Especially Min Ying, who genuinely believed her right arm was broken and cried the loudest.
Qing Li, feeling tired from the exertion—this body was too weak and lacked strength—finally stopped. As soon as she ceased, the girls’ wails quieted down, and they immediately sighed in relief, not daring to say much, merely eyeing her warily.
Qing Li held the mop firmly and coldly asked, “Are you very angry? Do you hate me for hitting you?”
The girls remained silent, their lips pressed tight, but their eyes conveyed the sentiment: Of course!
How could they not be angry? They were certain they would call in reinforcements after school!
Qing Li sneered, “You’ve hit me so many times and even locked me in the restroom more than once. I’m angry too! Why should you be allowed to bully others? Let me tell you, I’ll carry a knife from now on. If you dare to hit me, I’ll stab you one by one and see who feels the pain!”
The girls’ expressions changed slightly. They were reluctant, but fear of her words kept their mouths shut.
Only then did Qing Li say, “Get lost.”
Min Ying was the first to bolt out, with the other four girls trailing behind her. As they left the restroom, they heard Min Ying’s vengeful voice: “Fu Qing Li, just wait!”
A few minutes later, Min Ying, her dislocated arm treated by the school nurse, stood in the office with her four friends, looking accusatory. “Teacher, it’s her! She beat us up like this!”
The homeroom teacher looked at the few troublemakers in class, pitying them as they pointed at their bruises and scratches. His eyelids twitched as he glanced at Qing Li with a hint of respect.
This girl looked fragile, yet she fought so fiercely.
And she managed to take on five without getting hurt herself?
The homeroom teacher of Class Four regarded Qing Li with the same astonishment and asked, “Did you do this?”
Qing Li didn’t need to look to know that Min Ying and the others were probably snickering. They had been called to the office too many times and had lost their sense of shame. Seeing Fu Qing Li in trouble brought them joy.
However, Qing Li wasn’t a real student and didn’t feel nervous. “Yes, I did it, but it was self-defense. She was going to hit me first, and many people can vouch for me, although they didn’t hit me.”
The homeroom teacher was at a loss for words.
He found it even harder to believe.
Qing Li added, “Teacher, they locked me in the restroom last night. A classmate passed by and let me out around seven. I remember there are surveillance cameras in the hallway; please check them.”
The teacher’s expression immediately turned serious as he replied, “I’ll go check right now.”
Min Ying’s face changed; she grew anxious, not expecting Fu Qing Li to bring this incident up. Just as she was about to deny it, she heard Qing Li continued, “Wait, teacher, can I borrow your phone? I need to call my guardian; this matter should be handled by adults.”
Min Ying: “???”
This was outrageous! A student was fighting back and even voluntarily calling her parents!
Thinking of her father made Min Ying shiver. She regretted coming to get her parents involved. Most of the girls around her looked uneasy too!
Only the homeroom teacher smiled in relief, nodding in agreement as he handed over the phone. “You’re right; here you go.” He then addressed Min Ying and the others: “Please have the teacher from Class Twelve call their parents too. If a student was locked in the restroom all night without anyone passing by, if anything happened, you would be the culprit!”
Min Ying’s heart sank, and her face twisted in anger as she glared at Qing Li, grinding her teeth, “You’re ruthless!”
Qing Li grinned. “Go ahead and call your parents~”
Min Ying felt darkness closing in on her. Reluctant as she was, the teacher from Class Twelve had already started making calls.
From then on, the girls lost their earlier confidence, standing listlessly in the office.
Qing Li, however, remained seated while the teacher beside the homeroom teacher went off to class, leaving the room empty.
Half an hour later, parents from both sides rushed in one after the other.
The first to arrive was Qing Li’s side. Since she had arranged things with Pei Mingjiang yesterday, he immediately sent someone over after receiving the call. It was Pei Mingjiang’s assistant and a lawyer. After understanding the situation and viewing the video, they quietly began discussing their next steps.
The second parent to arrive was someone named Fang Zi. As soon as she entered and saw the bruises on her daughter, she let out a wail: “Oh my baby, what happened to you? Who hit you?!”
Fang Zi immediately pointed at Qing Li. “Mom, it was her who hit me.”
Fang’s mother stormed over with a dark expression. The homeroom teacher stood up to block her, but she tried to push past him. “Move aside! Look at what kind of child you’re raising, who would beat my daughter up like this? I won’t let this go with your school!”
