“Energetic?”
Fengguang cursed the man silently seven or eight times. Energetic? Was he blind? She was running for her life!
Gritting her teeth, she said, “It’s all because of your dog!”
Fengguang didn’t notice how strangely quiet the air had become.
“Tigerbite?” He glanced at the dog sitting obediently on the ground. “Isn’t she well-behaved?”
He was slender, and today he wasn’t dressed in his usual white. Instead, he wore a dark robe trimmed with gold—solemn, yet carrying a hint of scholarly refinement. Not weak in the slightest. Handsome, undeniably so… but at this moment, Fengguang was completely immune to his charms.
She snapped, “Well-behaved? Did you not see how she chased me just now?!”
“Could it be… the Crown Princess hid food again?”
Fengguang’s face froze for a second before she loudly denied it. “I did not hide any food! My sweets are rationed every day, and I definitely did not sneak into the kitchen to steal anything!”
Mm… she sounded ridiculously guilty.
“That makes it strange…” The man rubbed his chin in thought. “If the Crown Princess isn’t hiding food, then why would Tigerbite be so persistent in chasing you?”
“Maybe she thinks I’m pretty?” Fengguang offered uncertainly.
It was true—her beauty was unmatched in the entire palace.
He gave her a casual glance and smiled lightly. “Does the Crown Princess think you’re better-looking than I am?”
Fengguang paused, trying to process his words. Annoyingly, his logic wasn’t entirely wrong—he was just a narcissist. Still, she quickly retorted, “So what if you’re better-looking? Tigerbite isn’t a male dog, is she?”
He answered very seriously, “To reply to the Crown Princess—Tigerbite is female.”
Fengguang: “…”
If she were female, then why give her such a masculine name?!
The man seemed to be in an excellent mood. The corners of his eyes lifted slightly, making him look even more striking. “How long does the Crown Princess plan on staying on top of the palace wall?”
Because she was standing on the wall, he had to look up at her. Truth be told, he hadn’t looked up to anyone in many years.
When Tigerbite chased her earlier, Fengguang had been too panicked to realize she was afraid of heights. Now that the dog sat quietly without any threat, her legs turned weak. She slowly crouched down, both hands gripping the edge of the wall, trembling as though she might fall at any moment.
He added, “The Crown Princess must really enjoy the view up there.”
“Of course…” she said stiffly, unwilling to lose face. “You can see farther from up here, and the air is much fresher. This is how I appreciate the scenery.”
Just then, the wind lifted a corner of her skirt. Tigerbite immediately lunged forward, barking and trying to grab it. Fengguang snatched her skirt up just in time, and Tigerbite missed.
Seeing she couldn’t reach it, the dog returned to sitting obediently.
Good grief—so she had just been waiting for an opportunity!
Fengguang glared at the man as though he were her mortal enemy. “Hurry up and take your dog away!”
“Crown Princess, please believe me—Tigerbite is merely enthusiastic. She means no harm.”
“I don’t believe you!” She shook her head, nearly in tears. “Brother, I shouldn’t have misspoken yesterday and called your Jade Bamboo Pavilion a doghouse! I was wrong, I admit it, okay?!”
