TSFLIP Chapter 843

Only then did Feiyu suddenly understand. “Ah, Miss, you mean His Majesty is afraid you’ll go to the Prime Minister to plead for mercy, so he wants to cut the knot quickly and deal with the Crown Prince first… but that still doesn’t seem right…”

“What doesn’t seem right?” Fengguang asked.

“The Crown Prince was born to the late Empress and is His Majesty’s first child. How could His Majesty possibly… Miss, even a tiger won’t eat its own cub.”

Fengguang rolled her eyes. “This is the imperial family—where do you find that much parental affection? Since ancient times, how many crown princes have actually made it to the end? You’re being naive.”

“But… but…” Feiyu stammered for a long while without managing to form a complete sentence. From childhood to now, she had never once managed to win an argument against Fengguang.

Fengguang let Feiyu stew in her confusion. She got out of bed, picked up a pastry from the table, and ate to fill her stomach while killing time.

The Prime Minister hadn’t been gone long before he returned, and just as expected, he brought another man with him.

The moment he entered, Xia Chao headed straight for Fengguang’s bed. Luckily, Fengguang reacted quickly—she had already set the pastry down and rushed back to the bed, wiped the crumbs from her mouth, and once again put on a pitiful, deathly ill expression.

“Daughter, Father has brought the Crown Prince back. Look.”

“The Crown Prince…” Fengguang struggled to open her eyes.

The man standing a short distance away was silent for a few seconds before walking forward. With her nearsighted vision, Fengguang could finally make out his features.

Light filtered in through the window, as if draping him in a thin veil. He was handsome and refined, around thirty years old, with delicate features and a temperament that leaned toward quiet gentleness. There was something detached and uncontentious about him—yet, regrettably, this man was mute, and the bloodstains on his clothes marred the beauty of the moment.

Baili Mo—the Crown Prince of the Great Wei Kingdom, and the first mute crown prince in history. It was said that he hadn’t been mute as a child, but lost his voice after a serious illness. Back then, officials had jointly petitioned the emperor to strip him of his title, but the emperor stubbornly refused, unmoved even when many ministers threatened to resign. And yet now, how had things come to accusations of the Crown Prince plotting rebellion?

Fengguang blinked in confusion.

She wondered whether this man might be the one she had been looking for.

Baili Mo came to the bedside. Unable to speak, he could only look at Fengguang in silence. Though he had no voice, his eyes were clear and transparent; under his gaze, it felt as though she were standing naked before him, completely seen through. Gradually, Fengguang grew uncomfortable beneath his stare.

“Your Highness…” Fengguang reached out and tugged lightly at the corner of his sleeve, offering a weak smile. “Being able to see you… puts my heart at ease.”

He paused slightly, then slowly took her hand.

Fengguang’s fingers trembled unconsciously.

Xia Chao hurriedly asked, “Fengguang, do you feel any better?”

“Seeing His Highness has already made me feel much better… Father, I heard that His Majesty kept His Highness to discuss some matters, but… my health has been poor lately, and I’ve missed His Highness terribly. Could I—could I ask that His Highness stay and keep me company for a few more days?” By the end of her words, a faint blush had appeared on her face.

Xia Chao automatically took that as color returning to her cheeks, proof that her condition was improving. How could he possibly refuse?

“Don’t worry, Fengguang. I’ll speak to His Majesty myself. If you like having the Crown Prince with you, then he’ll stay with you. Don’t overthink things—focus on taking care of your health.”

Fengguang answered obediently, “Mm. I understand, Father.”
