Oh my god, they actually used massive firepower.
Bei Yutang knew that things weren’t going to be peaceful here, but to see it happen right from the start was truly shocking. Fortunately, she reacted quickly, or she would have been blasted to pieces.
As she jumped out of the car, she heard a voice in Thai or Burmese, followed by a barrage of bullets heading her way.
Bei Yutang wanted to retreat, but noticed the dust rising up ahead.
The explosion had just occurred, and the other party had driven toward her, proving they were a group. With wolves in front and tigers behind, Bei Yutang had no choice but to flee the other way.
She soon entered the jungle, using the trees for cover as she fled.
The people chasing her were clearly familiar with the jungle and quickly caught up.
Bang, bang, bang—
Gunshots rang out from behind her from time to time, bullets occasionally hitting the trees behind or beside her. Bei Yutang kept running in different directions, trying to escape the pursuit.
An hour later, Bei Yutang felt like she had emerged from the water, her clothes soaked with sweat.
She leaned against a huge, century-old tree, her eyes vigilantly observing her surroundings.
It was a good thing that the first thing she did every time she entered this dimension was exercise, practicing the Ice Palm. It really paid off. Had she not laid the foundation months before, she wouldn’t have been able to endure such a demanding escape today.
Bei Yutang leaned against the tree, breathing heavily.
She glanced behind her, but there was no sound. She wasn’t sure if they had retreated, but for the sake of caution, she didn’t dare to let her guard down even a bit.
She continued walking deeper into the forest.
Now she couldn’t tell where she’d run to, let alone where she was, or how far away she was from any human settlement. Bei Yutang found a spot and, based on her speed and the direction of the sun, mentally estimated her exact location.
Bei Yutang came to a grim conclusion: she seemed to have entered a drug lord’s territory.
Retracing the same route was out of the question; she had no choice but to find another way out.
Bei Yutang began walking along the river, seeking another way out.
However, she realized that she had been too optimistic. From daylight to dusk, she hadn’t left the forest.
Meanwhile, figures lurking in the darkness noticed Bei Yutang the moment she entered their territory.
“Boss, the rats are out. Over.”
“Strange. There seems to be only one person on the other side, a young woman. Over.”
“Keep observing.” A cold voice came from the intercom.
“Yes, over.”
Bei Yutang had felt a constant sense of being watched since entering the woods, her eyes darting back and forth.
Someone lurking in the bushes looked at Bei Yutang in surprise, “Boss, it seems the person has noticed us. Over.”
“Keep observing.”
“Yes.”
The feeling of being watched grew stronger, as if there were more than one. Bei Yutang’s keen senses swept around. She finally spotted the lurking figures to her left, right, and even in the treetops.
Bei Yutang, upon seeing this, secretly felt that something was amiss.
She feigned composure, as if not noticing anything amiss, and headed in another direction, her entire body tense, constantly on the lookout for those lurking in the shadows, fearing they might launch a sudden attack.
