Little Ji Tang wasn’t always inactive. When she learned to crawl, she developed a very special hobby—banging her brother’s head.
A gifted athlete, Ji Chen learned to crawl a month earlier than Ji Tang. While his younger sister was still rolling over, Ji Chen had already learned to crawl all over the bed.
He was no longer satisfied with just the bed, so there were carpets everywhere in the house for him to crawl on.
In order to prevent him from bumping himself silly, the father had smoothed the sharp corners of the furniture that he might bump into.
Although Ji Tang was usually quiet, she loved her brother and loved sleeping in the same bed with him.
So when her brother’s battleground shifted from the bed to under it, little Ji Tang refused to stand up and wanted to get under the bed too!
Ji Chen crawled around, messing with the building blocks, and then went around looking for his own toys. In the end, he didn’t forget to crawl back to his sister and gently bump her forehead with his little head, just like his mother usually did when teasing him.
He felt that he had an obligation to tease his sister because his sister had a beautiful smile.
The first time Ji Tangtang was bumped on the head by her brother, her big eyes blinked, and her eyelashes, like little fans, fluttered twice, as if the door to some new world had opened.
She then stared longingly at her brother.
It was her father, Ji Hefeng, who noticed this.
His daughter was now very attached to her brother. It wasn’t that she followed him everywhere; she wasn’t capable of that now. It was just that, whereas she used to be completely focused on her math textbook, her little eyes were now fixed on Ji Chen, no matter where he went.
If Ji Chen crawled out of her sight, she would roll over and continue watching until he crawled back in front of her and gently bumped into her. Only then would she lie down obediently, babbling.
Her father raised an eyebrow, as if he understood.
He said, “Chenchen, come here.”
Ji Chen already knew that the name Chenchen was meant for him, so he happily crawled over when he was called.
This kind of treatment was reserved for his mother and father; the younger uncles and younger cousins would receive it, depending on his moods.
His father pointed at his younger sister and said, “Sister likes you to bump heads with her.”
Ji Chen clearly couldn’t grasp such profound words. He tilted his head and drooled on his father’s hand.
When the mother came in, she saw her husband playing with his son, leaving the younger daughter lying there, watching anxiously.
So both father and son were scolded.
Returning from shopping, the mother picked up her neglected daughter and kissed her smooth little face.
Turning around, both father and son were looking at her.
The mother leaned over to kiss the father, then turned back, realizing something was amiss in her hand.
The girl in her arms thrust her little head forward, and with a loud thud, it bumped into her older brother’s forehead.
The older brother was stunned. One moment, he’d been watching his mother kiss his father, waiting for a kiss of his own. Next, he was bumped by his sister.
Yu Tian was also confused, confused as to why her usually gentle daughter would do such a thing.
But after this collision, her beautiful eyes sparkled, and she even grinned.
Curious, Yu Tian turned to Ji Hefeng and asked, “What happened?”
Ji Hefeng raised an eyebrow: “I don’t know.”
Although he seemed to have guessed something, it was not a good idea to jump to conclusions.
“Brother Ji, I just bought you some clothes. We haven’t worn matching outfits in ages!”
Yu Tian turned to look at Ji Hefeng. “Let’s go on a picnic this weekend!”
“Okay.”
Ji Hefeng kissed his wife on the forehead.
Yu Tian was delighted. She took out two more small pieces of clothing and said with a smile, “Actually, these aren’t matching outfits. They’re parent-child outfits!”
But it was almost the same.
