If Terrence represented the progressive faction, then Hami was undoubtedly the conservative one.

Unfortunately for Terrence, in Hami’s eyes, he was just a beast trapped in a cage.

“Do you even have the right to speak to me like this?” Hami raised an eyebrow.

Terrence glanced sideways at him. He had to admit, sometimes he admired Hami. Hami had built and protected the Red Flame Corps, giving shelter to people like them who had nowhere else to go.

But for Terrence and the others, that was far from enough. Every faction was expanding its influence, while they drifted across the galaxy with no stability.

Life was precarious, each day uncertain.

And Terrence had a nagging intuition: Hami had already seen through all of his actions—he was just patiently waiting for Terrence to make his move.

“If I’m unworthy, then who is?” Terrence added casually.

Hami: “Of course, it’s the insect you’ve secretly contacted. I’m sure he’s on the ship by now. If you hadn’t come out on time, he would have brought your subordinates along with his own to crush this place.”

Terrence pursed his lips. What Hami said matched the facts perfectly.

“Join us. Don’t be stubborn. If you come over, I’ll give you my position,” Terrence said sincerely.

Although he had betrayed Hami, Terrence still believed Hami had the qualities of a true leader.

“I have a hybrid of insect and human blood. Surely the insect race has been searching for one like this for years. Summon your insect allies, or their losses will be too great.”

Terrence glanced at Qiye inside the protective barrier and was stunned to see the boy clearly display insect traits—something that could not be faked.

Terrence knew the insect race had recently been experimenting with cross-species hybrids, and he, along with some members of the Red Flame Corps, had even aided them.

The strange beasts at Lilan Military Academy’s trial grounds had been created by them in conjunction with the insect race.

Those few beasts had taken a great deal of effort to produce.

And now, Hami had placed a natural insect hybrid right in front of him.

Terrence’s first reaction was disbelief: how could this be?

Everyone knew that insects and other species couldn’t naturally produce offspring, yet this boy’s insect traits were unmistakably real.

After thinking it through, Terrence decided this had to be reported to the insect race.

He activated his personal terminal, capturing live footage of the boy to send to the insect dignitary aboard the ship, Karola.

Less than half a minute later, there was movement at the airlock. Hami pressed a button, and a tall, pale youth stepped in.

The first thing he did upon entering was glance at the boy in the protective barrier. His eyes widened in shock.

There was no mistake. It was the same species.

But how was this possible? The insect race couldn’t produce natural hybrids!

Karola’s cold expression barely concealed his excitement. He immediately ordered Terrence, “Take him to meet the Insect Emperor at once.”

“Want to take him? Not so easy.”

Just as Karola, caught up in his excitement, let his guard down, Hami spoke abruptly and drew his weapon. Green light flickered in his dark eyes.

The blade struck Karola sharply. He took the hit, then sneered, “Overestimating yourself.”

After all, the physical capabilities of the insect race far surpassed humans. Even caught off guard by Hami, Karola only suffered a minor injury and quickly recovered.

His arms transformed into claws, each strike vicious, as if he intended to tear Hami apart.

Hami’s weapons couldn’t even scratch Karola. He had no choice but to dodge continuously, maneuvering skillfully to avoid the attacks.

After dozens of minutes of combat, Hami remained at a disadvantage, yet he showed no signs of fatigue, moving with remarkable ease.

Terrence, meanwhile, noticed Xu Linlang hiding behind the protective barrier and began to form a plan.

If the fight continued like this, who knew when it would end? Xu Linlang, clearly a pampered young lady, would be vulnerable—he could seize the boy from the barrier while the two of them were locked in combat.
