“Nahe…” Feng Guang turned her head, uncertain as she called out the name.
He reached out and patted her head. “It’s me.”
“It is you!” Overcome with excitement, she spun around, leapt up, and wrapped her arms and legs around him like a koala, her voice trembling with a pitiful tone. “I thought I’d have to die before I could see you again…”
“To let Feng Guang live a little longer, I came to find you.” Nahe’s rare smile appeared—faint though it was, there was no mistaking the gentle tenderness in his eyes.
“It’s you… the one from the underworld…” Blood poured freely from Jun Yu’s wound, and he didn’t even seem to think of staunching it. But he remembered now—the man holding Feng Guang in his arms was the same one who had stopped him in the underworld five hundred years ago.
Xia Yanyu hurried to Jun Yu’s side, supporting him as he nearly collapsed.
Yun Ji suddenly asked Feng Guang, “You’re Anuan… is that true?”
“She’s Feng Guang.” Nahe looked at Yun Ji, his smile fading, leaving only a quiet, heavy air about him. “She’s just Feng Guang, nothing more.”
In other words, that so-called past life didn’t matter at all.
Feng Guang came back to her senses from the joy of seeing Nahe again. She stepped down from his arms and swept her gaze over everyone present. She smiled faintly at Jun Yu and Yun Ji. “What does it matter if I’m Anuan or not? Either way, you both love Yanyu because of who she is, not because of her face—right?”
Nahe’s tone was cool. “If Feng Guang doesn’t want her to have the same face as you…”
“Hey—stop right there!” Feng Guang immediately caught the darkening glint in his eyes, knowing he was about to have some violent idea. “She’s my sister. Don’t you dare mess with her!”
Disappointment flooded Nahe’s beautiful eyes.
Yun Ji suddenly let out a quiet laugh. “No… how could this be? Feng Guang, how could you possibly be with him? Do you even know? He’s—”
“I know. I know everything.” Feng Guang cut him off, her tone carrying a rare, unshakable firmness. “I know exactly who Nahe is. And I don’t think that’s anything that could scare me.”
Yun Ji’s throat tightened. He understood—she truly didn’t care about things like being half-god, half-demon. Just like that night when she learned his real identity, her attitude had not changed in the slightest.
Nahe glanced at Xia Yanyu, then at Yun Ji, speaking with a mix of mockery and amusement. “Yun Ji, the Demon Realm’s great general—I know you. Five hundred years ago, we crossed paths in the underworld. You’re half-human, half-demon, so your aura is very memorable to me.”
Feng Guang had been about to praise Nahe’s sharp memory, but when she heard that last part, she froze, then grabbed his hand tightly. “I’m warning you—don’t get any strange ideas!”
Nahe blinked, not quite understanding what “strange ideas” she meant.
Seeing his pure and innocent look, Feng Guang forced herself to relax. But after what happened with Tang Xiaole and Chen Haitang, she was on edge about everything.
Yun Ji studied Nahe for a long moment before finally showing a faint, relieved smile. “I remember you well too. Your methods… I must admit, I admire them.”
That “admiration” was, of course, for Nahe’s ability to win Feng Guang’s heart away from him.
Nahe also smiled lightly, nodding. “It’s not that my methods are great—it’s just that… I met Feng Guang at exactly the right time. For her to come to the underworld and meet me, I have the few of you to thank.”
