TSFLIP Chapter 466

Xia Chao had set the date for Ji Mian to leave—three days from now. After that, Ji Mian would leave the Xia family. If he completed his mission, he could return. If he failed…

Xia Chao was gambling—gambling that Fengguang would forget Ji Mian.
Ji Mian was gambling too—no matter how much time passed, Fengguang would still keep him in her heart.

Just as Xia Chao had said, Ji Mian was still too young. His tricks might have worked on someone else—maybe even ruined them completely—but his opponent was Xia Chao.
If Ji Mian was a young fox, then Xia Chao was a seasoned old one.

The old fox’s power was already well established, while the young one was just beginning his climb.

Other than Fengguang and Ji You, no one in the Xia family could be considered an ordinary person.

“You’re leaving?” Fengguang clutched Ji Mian’s hand tightly in the living room when she heard the news.

Ji Mian gently took her hand in return. “I’ll be back very soon.”

“But… didn’t you say you weren’t busy? I thought you’d stay home with me…”

“When I come back, I’ll be able to stay with you forever.”

“Then… when will that be?”

“I can’t give you an exact time,” Ji Mian said, seeing the disappointment flash across her face. He leaned down and placed a soft kiss on the corner of her lips. “Fengguang, let me take you somewhere.”

Blushing, she nodded. “Okay…”

He held her hand and led her out behind the courtyard. Since Fengguang couldn’t see, she didn’t know exactly where he was taking her. She figured they hadn’t left the Xia estate, but suddenly, a strong fragrance filled the air, making her hesitate.

She lifted her head excitedly. “It smells like flowers!”

“It is,” Ji Mian said with a smile tugging at his lips. “This is the flower house.”

“The flower house? I don’t remember us having one.”

“We didn’t before. But now we do. I built it for you, Fengguang. I planted all these flowers myself. Do you like the way they smell?”

“I love it!” She twirled around where she stood, breathing in the lush fragrance that surrounded her in every direction. “You must’ve planted a lot. It must’ve taken so much time.”

Without warning, Ji Mian scooped her up in his arms. He walked slowly through the colorful, vine-covered blossoms. As they passed through different areas, the floral scents would change, letting her take in the variety. One of her hands gripped the fabric of his shirt, her face full of wonder and joy. He watched the way her expressions shifted and finally pressed a kiss to her forehead.

“It wasn’t a waste of time. Anything I do for you is worth it.”

“Thank you, gege…” Her eyes curved like crescent moons, and the happiness on her face was unmistakable.

But Ji Mian wasn’t satisfied.

He sat down with her on a white bench at the far end of the flower house, his fingers drifting unconsciously to the corner of her eye. “If you could see… I think you’d love this place even more.”

The way he said it—gentle, almost eerily so—carried a strange kind of intensity.

Li Bai was already dead. But among the people responsible for her blindness, there was still Ji You—and himself.

Suddenly, Fengguang buried her head against his chest and spoke in a muffled voice. “Gege… I used to want to be a painter.”

“I know.” He gently stroked her hair, his voice calm and even. “Your dream was to become an artist… and to go to the Netherlands one day, to paint the tulip fields.”
