Then the rain came, heavy and relentless.

But more than just the storm approached her. The scent of blood from wounds she had sustained while fleeing attracted nearby zombies.

Misfortune never comes alone. Surrounded by the undead, Xie Yin, as an ordinary person, had no hope of escape.

But instead of being ripped apart and devoured, something happened. In that critical moment, she awakened a powerful ability. In a blinding instant, all the surrounding zombies disintegrated into ash, scattered by the pounding rain.

Barely clinging to consciousness, Xie Yin dragged herself into a hidden spot nearby and passed out completely.

She spent a full week burning with fever, barely surviving on sheer willpower. Luckily, no zombies or people stumbled into her hiding place during that time.

Back at the villa, when Xu Chi and Zhuo Yan returned, the others made up some story about Xie Yin having died. In their minds, she was just an ordinary girl who ran off into zombie-infested streets—she couldn’t possibly have survived.

Though Xu Chi had suspected Zhuo Yan might’ve orchestrated something to get rid of Xie Yin, he hadn’t imagined the others would go so far as to try and assault her. After all, she was still, technically, his girlfriend. He didn’t want to be publicly humiliated like that.

So when he heard their weak, poorly made-up excuse, he didn’t dig deeper. He just put on an act, mourning Xie Yin’s “death” for appearances’ sake.

When Xie Yin finally regained consciousness, she discovered that her physical strength had increased dramatically thanks to the awakening. But she still didn’t understand what kind of ability she had gained.

After being betrayed so cruelly, Xie Yin no longer trusted anyone. She wandered alone for a long time, living a harsh life since her ability was unreliable—sometimes it worked, sometimes it didn’t.

Then one day, she killed a man who tried to rob her, and discovered she had absorbed his ability.

That’s when she finally realized what her power was: Seizure. She could take away abilities, life force, anything.

As Xie Yin grew more powerful, she began gathering information on Xu Chi and Zhuo Yan, bent on revenge. But by then, Xu Chi had already been used and discarded by Zhuo Yan—dead and gone. Zhuo Yan, on the other hand, had climbed her way into the inner circle of the strongest ability user at the Central Base.

The man who had tried to assault Xie Yin, though, was still living comfortably at the base. She found him, planning to kill him, but ended up learning from his mouth that Zhuo Yan was the true mastermind behind the attack years ago.

Now, Zhuo Yan wasn’t just known across the Central Base as the top healer. She also had a group of powerful ability users protecting her, with the strongest of them being a nightmare to deal with.

Eventually, during one of Zhuo Yan’s outings, Xie Yin set her plan in motion. After careful preparation, she finally killed her.

But in doing so, Xie Yin found herself surrounded by Zhuo Yan’s protectors.

Grievously wounded and outnumbered, Xie Yin made a desperate leap into a horde of zombies.

This time, she wasn’t as lucky as she had been before.
