Mu Liuyin, cool as ever, said:
“Go prepare. I’ll stay here and help Mingli stabilize her cultivation.”
Yan Hui: “……”
Qin Yu: “……”
Since when did stabilizing one’s realm require company?
Qin Yu clicked his tongue twice. Even something as shameless as that, when said in his senior brother’s cool, detached tone, somehow sounded completely justified.
As night fell, in the highest pavilion of the Astrologer’s Tower, a luminous white jade tablet—shaped like a book—began to emit a faint glow. At first, the light was subtle, but it gradually intensified, growing visibly stronger by the second.
As if sensing something, a handsome young man meditating cross-legged in his room inside the tower slowly opened his eyes. He stood up, his snow-white hair cascading down to his bare ankles. In the next moment, he had already arrived at the top pavilion where the jade was kept.
Gazing at the now brilliantly glowing white jade tablet, his slender, pale fingers reached into the light and gently tapped the surface. Within moments, the radiant glow dissipated, and a few sharp, knife-carved characters emerged on the jade.
It read:
A hundred years from now, the Lord of the Demon Realm shall awaken. The seal imprisoning the Demon Clan will be broken. Calamity shall descend upon the world.
The white-haired young man gently traced the characters with his fingers and read the critical line beneath the warning:
The Lord of the Demon Realm—reincarnated bearer of the blood-red Other Shore Flower mark.
He chuckled softly. “How interesting.”
Back at the Taiyan Sect, Mu Liuyin’s heart skipped a beat.
The next day, Taiyan Sect sent out all the invitations.
Ye Fengjue—the white-haired master of the Astrologer’s Tower—glanced at the invitation from Taiyan Sect and let out a soft chuckle. “Since your sect’s top disciple is holding a Divine Ascension Ceremony the day after tomorrow, and the eight great sects will all be gathered there, you may inform your sect master that the Astrologer’s Tower has important matters to discuss with all present after the ceremony.”
When the messenger disciple reported this back, Mu Liuyin was startled. She didn’t want to believe it, but she couldn’t help suspecting whether this was the same prophecy that, in the original plot, had led Mingli down the path of demonic cultivation. Her brows furrowed slightly, her expression growing colder.
“What’s wrong, Senior Brother?” Yan Hui asked, noticing the chill in Mu Liuyin’s expression.
“It’s nothing.”
Yan Hui’s face turned serious. “If the Astrologer’s Tower wants to discuss something with all eight sects, it can’t be anything simple… It might be a prophecy from the Heavenly Book.”
That only deepened Mu Liuyin’s unease. She closed her eyes briefly and said, “Let’s prepare for the ceremony first.”
Back in her room, the first thing Mu Liuyin did after setting up a formation was yank Xiao Jiu out of the system space.
“Did the Heavenly Book make a prophecy???” she asked in a low, threatening voice, still gripping Xiao Jiu by the tail.
“Xiao Jiu doesn’t know either! QAQ But according to the original plot, the prophecy wasn’t supposed to appear for another forty-nine years! QAQ” the little furball whimpered, shaking all over.
It had been a long time since Mu Liuyin had been this harsh, and Xiao Jiu felt aggrieved. Tears welled up in his round cat eyes.
But Mu Liuyin showed no pity for the adorable ball of fluff. She said coldly:
“It better not be a prophecy! If it is, say goodbye to that fur of yours!”
“Wahhh QAQ!” Xiao Jiu sniffled, tears falling like raindrops. “So mean, host! QAQ”
Crying won’t save you!
After tossing Xiao Jiu back into the system space, Mu Liuyin still couldn’t shake the growing unease in her heart.
In the original plot, the prophecy from the Heavenly Book appeared after Mingli entered the Nascent Soul stage.
If the prophecy is tied to Mingli’s cultivation level… then…
She absolutely must hide the blood-red flower mark on Mingli’s collarbone!
Mu Liuyin shot to her feet and hurried to Mingli’s room.
Mingli seemed to be about to undress for bed. She blinked and looked at her suddenly appearing master in confusion.
Without saying a word, Mu Liuyin yanked open Mingli’s collar. Her hand, warm and smooth like jade, pressed against the mark on Mingli’s collarbone as she silently reinforced the seal on the blood-colored Other Shore Flower.
“Master?” Mingli called softly.
Her long, dense eyelashes fluttered like butterfly wings, and as she lowered her gaze to her master’s hand on her skin, a faint blush slowly crept from her neck to the tips of her ears.
Mu Liuyin quickly withdrew her hand. Catching sight of Mingli’s flushed ears, she realized just how ambiguous her actions had looked. An awkward tension instantly filled the air.
“I was just reinforcing the seal on that mark,” she explained stiffly.
In response, Mingli let out a soft chuckle.
Mu Liuyin immediately turned and left—but the way she rushed out… it looked an awful lot like she was fleeing.
