Mu Liuyin nodded thoughtfully, then suddenly realized what the little one had just called her. She pinched the baby’s nose and solemnly corrected,
“Call me ‘Master.’”
The little one just squinted happily and cooed again, “Ma… ma~”
Mu Liuyin: “…”
She corrected her over ten times, and yet the first words out of the little girl’s mouth were still “Mama.”
This brat!
Mu Liuyin looked exasperated, her normally cool expression now even colder.
The Eastern Sea wasn’t exactly close to the Taiyan Sect, but it wasn’t that far either. With Qin Yu’s cultivation at the Great Ascension stage, he reached the border in just two hours.
As soon as he arrived, he sensed faint traces of dark demonic energy in the air—thin, but present. While such a low concentration wouldn’t cause much harm, over time, it could corrupt many cultivators with weak wills or hidden darkness in their hearts.
Following the trail, Qin Yu eventually located the source, right above the central sea region, a spatial rift.
The rift was invisible to the eye, only detectable due to the demonic energy seeping from it. He flew on his sword to hover before it, where the dark aura steadily leaked out. Fortunately, the tear wasn’t too large. He formed a seal with his hands, and golden light flared as the spell etched the character “Seal” in midair, locking the rift shut.
When it was done, he let out a cold snort.
The Eastern Sea region was mostly scattered with small to mid-sized sects. The strongest cultivators around were only in the early Nascent Soul stage. If a disciple from their sect hadn’t been harmed here during training, who knows how long it would’ve gone unnoticed?
But if that disciple was harmed, it likely meant some cultivators below the Nascent Soul stage had already been corrupted by demonic energy.
With a grim face, Qin Yu extended his spiritual sense to sweep across a large portion of the Eastern Sea—and sure enough, he found several corrupted Foundation and Core stage cultivators, even a few demonic spirit beasts.
After slaying the beasts, Qin Yu dragged the corrupted cultivators back to the sect.
He figured he’d just dump them on Senior Brother Yanhui to deal with and then go find Mu Liuyin.
But upon returning, he found an elder from the Astrology Tower, also in the Great Ascension stage, sitting and chatting with Senior Brother Yanhui.
That elder was speaking with an almost theatrical sympathy,
“Our Tower Master had already divined the events at the Eastern Sea. Regretfully, we didn’t manage to send word before your sect suffered casualties.”
His voice was laced with condescension beneath the sympathy.
Yanhui: “……”
Qin Yu, who’d just walked in and caught that last part: “……”
Wasn’t it our sect that informed the other factions—including you people—about the danger? Where did you get the nerve to say you’d already divined it?
With a sneer, Qin Yu tossed the corrupted cultivators onto the floor and said,
“Oh? So you already foresaw it? Then why was I the one who sealed the rift?”
The elder fell silent.
His pitying expression froze as he looked at the corrupted cultivators, completely unable to refute Qin Yu’s words.
Slap to the face: immediate.
The elder faltered, trying to come up with a weak excuse, but Qin Yu had already turned and walked off coldly toward Mu Liuyin.
Yanhui smiled politely and saw the elder out.
The little one who’d been calling Mu Liuyin “Mama” nonstop had long since fallen asleep, so Mu Liuyin was calmly meditating by her side.
Sensing Qin Yu’s return, she opened her eyes.
“Confirmed?”
Qin Yu nodded.
“Good thing you sent me. I sealed the rift leaking demonic energy and brought back a few corrupted cultivators as well.”
Then he snorted again, annoyed.
“The Astrology Tower is getting worse and worse. They didn’t even foresee something like demonic energy leakage.”
The more he thought about those people from the tower, always acting even more arrogant than the Taiyan Sect just because they had the artifact—the Celestial Tome—the angrier he got. If not for their sect’s disciples being present, who knows how far the corruption would’ve spread before anyone noticed?
And they dared to try and take the credit?
Shameless!
Seeing Qin Yu huffing and fuming, Mu Liuyin’s cold expression almost cracked from amusement. But she merely responded with her usual calm:
“I understand.”
As for the Astrology Tower… recalling what had happened in the original plot, her gaze turned icy.
It’s about time someone put them in their place.
