She handed the mixed drink to Deborah and briefly introduced her to Si Yibing, emphasizing that Si Yibing had amnesia and didn’t understand many things yet.
Noticing Si Yibing was still standing beside her, Mu Liuyin felt a little helpless. She placed several freshly made cocktails on a tray and asked Si Yibing to deliver them to the customers.
Quite a few eyes in the bar were on Si Yibing. Her appearance was striking, and her cold, expressionless demeanor gave off an aloof and restrained vibe. Most of the Alphas looked away after sensing her Alpha pheromones, but several Betas were tempted to approach her.
Still, due to Wudia Lais’ strict rules about protecting employees—and Si Yibing’s frosty, unapproachable aura—very few people dared to hit on her. Each time she delivered drinks, she would return immediately to Mu Liuyin’s side.
[Host, someone from Si Yan’s side just arrived! Σ(っ°Д°;)っ]
The sudden warning from Xiao Jiu rang in her mind. Mu Liuyin, who had been mixing drinks, narrowed her eyes. She hadn’t expected to run into Si Yan’s scouts from Anxing on the very first day she brought Si Yibing to work.
She glanced at the two newly arrived male Betas as they approached the bar but continued mixing drinks as if nothing had happened.
The two Betas sat at the bar and ordered drinks, but the moment they saw Si Yibing beside Mu Liuyin, their eyes lit up in surprise. They’d finally found her—but she didn’t look injured and, more surprisingly, was working here at Wudia Lais.
They didn’t dare act rashly. One of them subtly tapped on his wrist communicator, sending a message to the rest of their team, planning to make a move after Si Yibing got off work.
Mu Liuyin had Xiao Jiu intercept the message. Watching the two men look pleased with themselves, thinking their message had been successfully sent, she couldn’t help but scoff inwardly.
Wudia Lais had many entertainment options, and these two Betas were only here because Si Yan had given them enough money to spend freely. They had never imagined the person they’d been looking for was there all along. They exchanged a glance, excitement flashing in their eyes. After all, Si Yan had promised that once they sold the girl to the lab, the money would be theirs.
Later that night, once Mu Liuyin and Si Yibing finished work and were walking home, Si Yibing leaned close and whispered in her ear, “We’re being followed.”
Mu Liuyin curled her lips slightly. Of course, she knew someone was tailing them. She asked, “How did you know?”
“I heard them,” Si Yibing replied softly.
Her voice was like ice and jade—emotionless, but Mu Liuyin could hear a faint hint of pride in it.
Mu Liuyin chuckled. “You’re amazing, Bing.”
Si Yibing pursed her lips, looking a little shy. She watched as Mu Liuyin turned down a quiet alley and tilted her head in confusion.
“We’re leading them in to see what they want,” Mu Liuyin whispered, “and then we beat them up.”
Si Yibing nodded, eyes bright with excitement. She didn’t seem worried at all about whether the two of them could handle their pursuers.
The two male Betas followed them into the alley—only to find that the people they were tracking had vanished.
Hidden in the shadows, the two women spotted them. Si Yibing whispered, “You stay here. I’ll handle them.”
Before Mu Liuyin could respond, Si Yibing had already darted forward and knocked both men out in just a few moves.
Mu Liuyin: “…”
Si Yibing returned to her side and muttered, “They’re too weak.”
Mu Liuyin gave her a look—equal parts amused and exasperated. “You’re just too strong.”
Si Yibing’s eyes sparkled with barely contained pride.
Mu Liuyin used nearby materials to tie up the two unconscious men, then used her water-based ability to splash them awake. Looking at their dazed faces, she tilted her chin and said coldly, “Start talking. Why were you following us?”
The two men, now realizing they’d been caught and tied up by their targets, trembled with fear. When they saw the cold, expressionless Si Yibing beside Mu Liuyin, they suddenly remembered that this was the Imperial Princess herself.
And hadn’t the person who sent them claimed she was gravely injured and easy to capture? Their hearts filled with silent curses.
Gravely injured, my ass! She was perfectly fine!
Frightened, they blurted out that someone from the Imperial Capital had hired them to find the princess. But they didn’t dare say that the plan was to sell her to the largest underground human experimentation lab on Anxing—saying that would mean certain death.
Mu Liuyin wasn’t letting it slide, though. Under the moonlight, her refined features looked cold and merciless. “What were you supposed to do once you found her?” she asked sharply.
Without waiting for a reply, she formed a blade of water and killed one of the men on the spot.
Si Yibing had already guessed she was the one they were after. Seeing Mu Liuyin kill without hesitation didn’t faze her—instead, she felt like she was being protected.
Anyone who would creep around like that didn’t have good intentions.
The other man, terrified by the sudden death of his companion, started bawling. “It was someone from the Imperial Capital! They told us to sell her to the biggest human lab in Anxing! But we swear—we don’t know who they are!”
Even though she already knew this part of the plot, hearing it said out loud made Mu Liuyin’s fury boil over.
Sensing her rage, Si Yibing blinked and gently took her trembling hand.
Mu Liuyin forced herself to calm down, her expression growing icier. She had already killed one man, and the other still had his uses.
Her eyes were cold and her voice like steel. She said, “Go back and tell your boss that the person you were looking for—she’s already dead.”
As she spoke, Xiao Jiu implanted a psychic suggestion into the man’s mind. Mu Liuyin then used her water ability to slice through his restraints.
The man scrambled to his feet and ran off as fast as he could.
After he ran off for a while, he gradually forgot what had just happened. All that remained in his mind was the thought: I found her, but she was already dead.
On the way home, Mu Liuyin remained somewhat quiet and downcast. Si Yibing held her hand and tried to comfort her.
“Don’t be upset,” she said softly. “The bad guys already ran off.”
Looking at the expressionless Si Yibing trying to cheer her up, Mu Liuyin once again felt incredibly relieved that she had managed to bring her home before those people found her. If she had been even a little too late, then in her heavily injured and unconscious state, Si Yibing could’ve very well ended up in that laboratory.
