Thank you, BlueMoon, for the ko-fi~
When Qin Xun heard that Feng Yuan had actually been hired as a postpartum nanny, he was at a loss for words.
After sharing the news about his new job, Feng Yuan didn’t forget to paint a rosy picture for Qin Xun.
“Qin Xun, when Yuan Yuan earns lots of money later, I’ll buy you things.”
“Yuan Yuan will buy you whatever you want.”
Feng Yuan had a sweet tongue, showering Qin Xun with endless promises that cost nothing.
Listening to him, Qin Xun’s usually stern little face softened into a faint smile.
“Mhm, Yuan Yuan is the best to me.”
As he spoke, Qin Xun also made a promise to Feng Yuan: “I’ll be good to Yuan Yuan, too.”
In this world, aside from his mom and dad, the one he loved the most was Feng Yuan.
The two little ones chatted over video for quite a while before ending the call.
Just before hanging up, Feng Yuan puckered his lips and blew several kisses to Qin Xun through the screen.
Rong Rong watched their affectionate interaction over the phone.
He didn’t feel envy or jealousy toward Feng Yuan and Qin Xun’s closeness.
He simply thought that Feng Yuan is truly wonderful.
Everyone who spends time with Feng Yuan ends up feeling happy.
That’s just how he was.
“Rong Rong, let’s go. We’re going to see Eggy!”
As soon as Feng Yuan finished the call, he immediately started his new role.
He hurried to the bedroom to check on Eggy.
While they were eating earlier, Eggy had been sleeping in the room.
“Shh.”
Seeing Feng Yuan enter, Wu Jin lowered his voice to remind him, “Eggy hasn’t woken up yet.”
Feng Yuan leaned in for a look and saw that Eggy was still sleeping soundly.
Wu Jin smiled and ruffled his little head.
“Yuan Yuan, why don’t you go take a bath first? You can come see Eggy again after you’re all cleaned up.”
“Okay.”
Feng Yuan obediently agreed and went to take a bath on his own.
He bathed in the dragon uncles’ room.
Several dragon uncles helped him bathe together.
If the bathroom hadn’t been too small to fit more people, the number of dragons helping him would likely have increased.
“Baby, are you really going to be Eggy’s postpartum nanny?”
The dragons asked as they bathed Feng Yuan, “Are you still planning to sleep with Eggy tonight?”
Feng Yuan, sitting naked in the bathtub, played with a little duck that floated on the water.
Squeezing the little yellow duck, he nodded seriously.
“Yes, Yuan Yuan is going to be Eggy’s postpartum nanny.”
“But baby, being a postpartum nanny is really hard work.”
Qing Hao had already looked up the profession online.
Thinking about what he’d found and then looking at Feng Yuan playing with the duck, his heart ached.
Even though Feng Yuan had only been a postpartum nanny for a few hours, Qing Hao already felt terribly sorry for him.
“Baby, your uncles have money. We can work and earn money.”
“You don’t need to work.”
Qing Hao couldn’t bear the thought of their baby working.
Whenever Feng Yuan went out to collect scrap, the dragons would feel heartbroken.
They couldn’t even bring themselves to watch videos of Feng Yuan collecting scrap online.
Just a few glances would be too much for them to handle.
“Uncle, Yuan Yuan isn’t tired.”
Feng Yuan knew the dragon uncles were worried about him.
He grinned, trying to comfort them.
The atmosphere in the bathroom was warm and cozy.
Rong Rong was also squeezed into the same bathtub with Feng Yuan.
The surface of the bathwater was covered with little ducks.
The two little ones were busy lining up the ducks.
After bathing both little ones, the dragon uncles wrapped them in towels and carried them to bed.
“Yuan Yuan, how about we don’t go to Eggy’s room tonight, okay?”
The blue dragon was changing Feng Yuan into his pajamas while making one last attempt to persuade him.
But once Feng Yuan made a decision, he never changed his mind.
After spending a little while in the uncles’ room, he was ready to leave.
Before going, he handed Rong Rong over to the uncles.
The uncles were all very friendly.
Feng Yuan asked them to sleep with Rong Rong at night.
Uncle Bo Han had reminded him before leaving.
Rong Rong needed someone to sleep with at night.
Otherwise, he wouldn’t rest well.
“Uncles, see you tomorrow!”
Feng Yuan waved his little hand energetically and headed off to Yu Yi’s room to start his work.
When he arrived, Eggy was still asleep.
Yu Yi and Wu Jin had already changed into their pajamas and were just finishing tidying up.
Next to the large bed in the master bedroom, a small bed with railings had been added.
With the two beds pushed together, the space was much larger than before.
Feng Yuan lay down without feeling cramped at all.
After lying down, he didn’t sleep too close to Eggy.
Eggy was too small. Feng Yuan was afraid of accidentally rolling onto him during the night.
“Godfather,”
Feng Yuan lay on his godfather’s left side, resting his head on his arm as he chatted, “Eggy sleeps a lot every day.”
“That’s right. He’s growing.”
For a newborn like Eggy, growth happened every day.
His clothes needed to be replaced with a larger size every month.
Yu Yi spent every day with Eggy. But since he saw him so often, he couldn’t really notice the changes.
All he knew was that this little guy was becoming more and more of a handful each day.
Feng Yuan was both caring and curious about the tiny Eggy.
Yu Yi never discouraged his curiosity.
Whenever Feng Yuan reached out to touch Eggy or study him, Yu Yi never stopped him.
He knew that his chubby Yuan Yuan was always careful and mindful of boundaries.
Little chubby Yuan was a good big brother.
The bedroom lights were dimmed. Under the soft glow, Feng Yuan began to feel drowsy before long.
Just as he was about to fall asleep, Eggy woke up.
Eggy always made a fuss when he woke up.
He would cry with his eyes closed. His cries were especially loud.
Only when an adult picked him up would he stop crying.
His crying never produced any tears.
It was just his way of getting the adults’ attention, so they would know immediately that he was awake.
Once he sensed an adult’s presence, he would stop crying, open his eyes, and wait for his dad to give him a bottle or change his diaper.
“Dad’s here. Dad’s here.”
Wu Jin quickly moved to Eggy’s side, patting him gently to soothe him.
Eggy opened his eyes and looked at him.
As father and son locked eyes, Wu Jin smiled.
He handed a bottle of warm milk to Eggy, who grabbed it and latched onto the nipple.
He drank eagerly, gulping down the milk.
Meanwhile, Wu Jin prepared to change his diaper.
“Here.”
Just as Wu Jin turned to get a diaper, Feng Yuan, rubbing his eyes, handed one over.
Feng Yuan had wanted to change the diaper himself, but Wu Jin had already taken over the task.
Yawning, Feng Yuan waited nearby for Eggy to finish his milk so he could help put him to sleep.
A good nanny had to know how to soothe a baby to sleep.
In Feng Yuan’s self-assigned duties, putting the baby to sleep was one of his tasks.
Eggy took his time drinking his milk.
At first, he drank quickly. But as he continued, his pace gradually slowed down.
When only a little milk remained in the bottle, he stopped sucking altogether. Instead, he just held the bottle in his mouth. His eyes darted around, looking very alert.
Feng Yuan had been feeling sleepy. But as he watched Eggy gulping down the milk, he started to feel a little hungry himself.
Wu Jin noticed him staring intently at Eggy’s bottle and got up to fetch a cup.
He prepared a cup of milk powder for Feng Yuan.
“Yuan Yuan, here you go.”
Wu Jin handed a full cup of milk to Feng Yuan and encouraged him to drink it. “This is very nutritious. You can have some, too.”
Feng Yuan shook his head and didn’t take it.
Seeing his reluctance, Wu Jin added, “It’s part of the work meal.”
Feng Yuan hesitated for a moment before extending his chubby little hand.
He took the large cup of milk and drank it together with Eggy.
Perhaps drinking together made it taste better, because even Eggy, who usually never finished the last bit of milk in the bottle, ended up sucking it all up this time.
After finishing his milk, Feng Yuan rinsed his mouth.
Wu Jin leaned in to smell his breath and, detecting no trace of milk, allowed him to go back to sleep.
“Yuan Yuan wants to soothe Eggy.”
Feng Yuan sat on the bed, refusing to sleep.
Seeing this, Wu Jin had no choice but to hand Eggy over to him.
Eggy had just woken up and needed to play for a while before falling asleep again.
Although Feng Yuan was tired, he persisted in playing with Eggy for half an hour.
After half an hour, Eggy finally closed his eyes.
As soon as Feng Yuan saw Eggy fall asleep, he handed him back to Wu Jin.
No sooner had Wu Jin laid Eggy down than he turned around to find Feng Yuan already fast asleep.
He lay sprawled out, arms and legs splayed, as if he had fallen asleep the moment he touched the bed.
He slept for about three hours.
Three hours later, Eggy needed milk again.
Hearing the commotion, Feng Yuan sat up like a little ghost.
Worried that he might still be hungry, Wu Jin prepared half a cup of milk for Feng Yuan while making Eggy’s bottle.
Feng Yuan, his little face dazed, took the half-cup of milk and drank it all with Eggy.
Fortunately, this time, he didn’t have to soothe Eggy back to sleep.
Eggy didn’t need much soothing at night.
He was a well-behaved baby at night. Aside from crying a little when he needed milk to get the adults’ attention, he would fall back asleep on his own after drinking.
“Yuan Yuan, if Eggy cries again, you don’t need to get up. He doesn’t need anyone to soothe him.”
After checking on the sleeping Eggy, Wu Jin quietly reminded Feng Yuan.
Feng Yuan was so sleepy that his little head felt like mush.
He nodded and was gently pushed back onto the bed by Wu Jin, where he fell asleep.
As dawn approached, Eggy needed milk again.
This time, Feng Yuan didn’t get up.
He slept straight through until morning, waking up just as Eggy did.
Without even brushing his teeth or washing his face, Feng Yuan first fetched water to wash Eggy’s face.
By the time he finished his tasks in the bedroom, it was already past nine o’clock.
He was hungry again.
He had carried Eggy quite a bit. While Eggy’s weight was light for adults, it was no small burden for Feng Yuan, who was only four years old.
Carrying Eggy had tired him out. When he was tired, he got hungry.
The cup and a half of milk he had drunk the night before had already been digested.
He hadn’t eaten breakfast yet this morning, so his stomach was completely empty.
“Yuan Yuan, hurry and eat. The table is full of your favorite foods today.”
As soon as Feng Yuan stepped out of the bedroom, he bumped into Fang Fang, who had come to check on Eggy.
Fang Fang smiled and urged him to go eat.
Since Yu Yi had just given birth to Eggy and needed nourishment, the meals at the Yu household were now exceptionally nutritious.
Fang Fang had specifically arranged for Yuan Yuan and Rong Rong to have the same nutritious meals as Yu Yi, so they could all eat together.
In Fang Fang’s view, children also needed proper nutrition to grow.
After three consecutive days of internship, Feng Yuan was doing quite well as a little postpartum nanny.
With him around, Eggy’s temper had noticeably improved.
The once-temperamental Eggy now acted like a little angel.
Feng Yuan was growing fonder of him by the day.
With the adults’ permission, Feng Yuan had them record a video of him taking care of Eggy.
In the video, Feng Yuan introduced Eggy, who was lying in the stroller.
“Hello, everyone! This is my little brother. I want to show him to you.”
After the introduction, the next shot showed Eggy in the stroller.
Eggy was dressed in a cute red outfit, wearing a small golden locket around his neck and a pair of beautiful golden bracelets on his chubby little hands, which were clutching toys.
But neither the golden locket nor the bracelets were as eye-catching as Eggy’s adorable face.
His little face was becoming more and more beautiful with each passing day.
Feng Yuan already saw him through rose-tinted glasses. As Eggy continued to grow, Feng Yuan felt he was the most beautiful baby in the entire world!
Of course, this ranking only included babies under one year old.
“He’s very good-looking and very well-behaved.”
“He’s a good baby.”
Feng Yuan praised Eggy in the video. After finishing his compliments, he introduced his new job.
“Yuan Yuan is now working as a postpartum nanny for Eggy. Let me show you. Yuan Yuan knows how to prepare formula milk.”
Feng Yuan demonstrated several skills, such as preparing formula, holding Eggy, and playing with him.
He also wanted to show how to change Eggy’s diaper, but Yu Yi said that part couldn’t be posted.
On video platforms, showing a baby’s bottom isn’t allowed.
Feng Yuan’s video ended up being a bit long, about five or six minutes in total.
After recording, Yu Yi uploaded it to his own account.
Feng Yuan’s personal account was logged in on his dad’s phone. Since his dad wasn’t around, he couldn’t access it.
“Godfather, when there are comments later, remember to show them to Yuan Yuan, okay?”
“Sure.”
Yu Yi agreed. “You and Rong Rong can go to the playroom. Take Eggy with you and let him watch you play.”
Feng Yuan’s life as a postpartum nanny seemed busy. But in reality, the adults didn’t let him overexert himself.
Because Feng Yuan was working at the Yu household, the Li family, who missed him, had to come visit.
After celebrating the New Year, Robert and Michelle had also returned home.
Li Si and Li Wang had two competitions in the country.
They planned to participate in them while they were back.
Both competitions offered prize money, which they intended to use to support the charity work Feng Qi had previously been involved in.
Qin Xun, wanting to spend more time with Feng Yuan, sometimes visited during the day and occasionally stayed overnight.
In short, everyone was content spending time with Feng Yuan.
As night gradually deepened, Feng Yuan, after another busy day, lay in bed with his godfather, scrolling through the comments on the video of him and Eggy.
Yu Yi knew that Feng Yuan couldn’t read many words, so he would pick out the nice comments to read to him.
Not long after the video of Feng Yuan and Eggy was posted, the comment section had already gathered thousands of comments.
Each of these comments was filled with enthusiasm.
“Ahhh. It’s our fresh little Yuan Yuan! I’m gonna inhale all his cuteness!”
“Little Yuan Yuan is already working right after the New Year. Hahaha. And as a postpartum nanny, no less!”
“This is hilarious! My little Yuan Yuan is only four years old, but he already has two years of work experience!”
“Ahhh, little nanny Yuan Yuan is so adorable! By the way, is this Feng Qi’s second child? Why does he look nothing like Yuan Yuan?”
“Hmm, did Feng Qi have a second child? I don’t think that’s a good idea. Yuan Yuan is only four years old, and he’s already being made to take care of his little brother. If they can’t handle it, they shouldn’t have had a second child. Why make my Yuan Yuan bear this responsibility?”
Quite a few people in the comments mistakenly thought Eggy was Feng Qi’s second child.
Seeing these comments, Yu Yi decided to pin his own explanation at the top:
“The little brother Yuan Yuan is taking care of is my son, not Feng Qi’s second child.
Little Yuan Yuan insisted on coming to work. We couldn’t stop him even if we tried.
Right now, Yuan Yuan is working very hard, and his little brother listens to him well.
All the sister fans and auntie fans, don’t worry. Yuan Yuan won’t be overworked.”
After Yu Yi pinned his comment, the comment section finally breathed a sigh of relief.
Once the fans learned the truth, they found the idea of little nanny Yuan Yuan absolutely hilarious.
Yu Yi picked out a bunch of comments praising Yuan Yuan and read them to him.
After listening, Feng Yuan wasn’t entirely satisfied.
He asked, “Is no one praising Eggy? Why is everyone only praising Yuan Yuan?”
He wanted to hear some compliments for Eggy, too.
Yu Yi chuckled. “There are praises for Eggy. Many people say he’s good-looking and well-behaved.”
“They’ve all been fooled by the video. That little rascal isn’t well-behaved at all.”
Yu Yi’s last remark made Feng Yuan sit up straight.
“Godfather, you can’t say that about Eggy!”
“Eggy is very well-behaved!”
Feng Yuan corrected his godfather unhappily.
In Feng Yuan’s eyes, Eggy was the most well-behaved, obedient, and adorable baby ever.
Yu Yi listened to the little guy’s words and didn’t argue with him.
“Alright, alright, your godfather misspoke. Eggy is the most well-behaved, the most well-behaved.”
As Yu Yi said “the most well-behaved”, he glanced sideways at his son nearby.
Eggy was sleeping at the moment. Just looking at his peaceful little face, he did seem quite well-behaved.
Yu Yi read a few more comments before finally putting his phone away.
“Alright, that’s enough phone time. Yuan Yuan, it’s time for you to sleep.”
Yu Yi set his phone aside and began coaxing Feng Yuan to sleep.
Feng Yuan closed his eyes. But before drifting off, he reminded his godfather, “If Eggy wakes up during the night, you have to call Yuan Yuan.”
Feng Yuan was afraid he might sleep too deeply and not wake up every time.
Although Yu Yi verbally agreed to wake him, in reality, unless Feng Yuan woke up on his own, no one would actually rouse him.
Feng Yuan had a slight instinctive reaction to Eggy’s cries.
He would wake up once or twice during the night.
Whenever he did, Wu Jin would prepare a bottle of milk for him, coax him into drinking it, and then let him go back to sleep.
After a week of this, Feng Yuan’s entire body carried the faint scent of milk.
Not only did he smell like milk, but the baby fat on his little face had also become more noticeable.
The dragons bathed him and Rong Rong every day. Over the week, they began to notice the changes.
While Feng Yuan wasn’t around, the dragons started chatting about him.
The blue dragon was the first to speak up, “Um, well, I wanted to ask… have any of you noticed that Yuan Yuan, he…”
“He’s gotten chubby.”
Bai Chen bluntly stated the truth.
After he spoke, Yin Shuang nodded eagerly, like a little chick pecking at rice.
“Yes, yes, yes! I thought I was the only one who noticed! Yuan Yuan has definitely put on more chub.”
Feng Yuan was a bit sensitive about gaining weight.
Although he had confidently told Rong Rong that chubby little cubs were the cutest, it was one thing for him to say it himself, and it was entirely different when others pointed it out.
He couldn’t stand hearing others say he had gained weight.
By now, not just the dragons, but even the adults had noticed.
They had all silently agreed not to mention it.
Wu Jin, who prepared Feng Yuan’s milk every night, had considered stopping it.
But the little guy, so used to his nightly bottle, would still ask for it even when half-asleep and drowsy.
Wu Jin’s heart softened. Seeing how much the child wanted it, he would end up preparing the milk anyway.
Watching the chubby little cub gulp down the milk, Wu Jin couldn’t help but feel a bit guilty.
Time passed little by little.
The chubby cub still hadn’t paid much attention to his own weight gain.
Lately, he had been asking the adults about his dad.
“Grandpa, when is Dad coming home? Yuan Yuan can’t get through to him on the phone.”
Feng Qi had been away for several days before. But back then, Feng Yuan could still reach him by phone.
This time, however, Feng Yuan couldn’t get through.
He was starting to worry.
Li Heng, who had come to visit, picked him up and reassured him, “Your dads have something important to do. You don’t need to worry about them.”
“The signal is bad where they are, so they can’t answer the phone.”
“Yuan Yuan, you have to believe in your dad. He’s very strong and will be just fine.”
Li Heng’s tone was steady and calm.
Listening to him, Feng Yuan’s little mind settled down a bit.
But he was still upset. “Yuan Yuan hasn’t seen Dad in so many days.”
“Yuan Yuan misses Dad.”
Feng Yuan, this little cub, was now both a nanny and working part-time, acting almost like a grown-up.
But in reality, he hadn’t even celebrated his fourth birthday yet.
He was still very young.
For such a small child, going days without seeing his dad was understandably distressing.
While Feng Yuan was anxious, Rong Rong had already secretly cried several times.
He would hide under the covers at night and weep quietly.
The dragons, after discovering this, would gently coax him out from under the blankets and patiently soothe him until he fell asleep.
But Rong Rong cried during the day, too.
His secret crying was impossible to hide. His eyelids would become slightly red and swollen. Anyone could tell he had been crying.
Even Eggy noticed.
The first time Eggy saw Rong Rong’s red eyes, he froze for a moment.
After a few seconds, Eggy offered his own milk bottle.
His milk bottle was his most treasured possession. As long as there was milk left, no one was allowed to take it.
But he willingly handed it to Rong Rong.
Rong Rong didn’t take it.
Eggy persisted for a while, but Rong Rong still refused.
Seeing that Rong Rong wouldn’t drink his milk, Eggy’s little face tightened.
Maybe he thought there was something wrong with his bottle, or maybe he was just upset.
He threw the half-full bottle away with a thump.
After the adults replaced it with a new bottle and prepared fresh milk for him, he offered it to Rong Rong again.
Afraid he might throw it away again, Wu Jin had to ask Rong Rong to take a sip.
This time, Rong Rong obediently accepted it.
After taking a sip from Eggy’s bottle, he wiped the nipple with a tissue.
Wu Jin returned the bottle to Eggy.
This time, Eggy didn’t throw it away again.
He held the nipple in his mouth and began to gulp down the milk.
Wu Jin witnessed the scene and deliberately took a photo.
Rong Rong and Feng Yuan were both missing their father.
Every day, they would ask the adults whether their father would return that day.
The little ones’ longing for their father made the adults anxious as well.
Li Heng spoke truthfully to Yu Lian, “I don’t even know what’s going on with Feng Qi and the others right now.”
Before setting off, Feng Qi had spoken with Li Heng. He mentioned that he wasn’t sure exactly when he would return from this trip.
In any case, before he came back, he hoped everyone at home could keep a close eye on Yuan Yuan.
If Yuan Yuan made any mistakes, they could just discipline him directly. There’s no need to wait for Feng Qi’s return.
Li Heng still remembered every word Feng Qi had said before leaving.
He kept turning those words over in his mind, trying to find some clues in them.
For instance, where Feng Qi and Li Sheng might be.
Unfortunately, he had been searching for clues up until now and still hadn’t found any.
Seeing that the two little ones were on the verge of losing control, Li Heng sought help from other divine beasts.
Bai Ze had also left during the New Year and hadn’t returned yet.
Li Heng couldn’t find him.
Li Heng then sought out Xie Zhi and Pixiu.
So far, these two divine beasts hadn’t been able to help either.
On the tenth day after Feng Qi’s departure, Feng Yuan, who had been slightly more resilient than Rong Rong, finally broke down.
He lifted his little face, sat on the sofa, and began to cry.
“Yuan Yuan wants Dad!”
“Yuan Yuan wants to find Dad!”
Feng Yuan was much harder to soothe than Rong Rong when he cried.
The adults took turns trying to comfort him, but nothing worked.
Li Ting, watching the chubby little guy cry until he was nearly dehydrated, grew increasingly anxious.
He urged Qin Xun, “Xiao Xun, you try comforting Yuan Yuan, too. We can’t let him keep crying like this.”
Qin Xun shook his head and said, “It’s no use. Unless Uncle Feng Qi returns, Yuan Yuan will keep crying.”
Qin Xun was right.
No one could console Feng Yuan this time.
He cried until he was utterly exhausted and fell asleep.
When he woke up, after drinking a little water, he started crying again.
As he cried, Rong Rong cried, too.
Even Eggy, held by the adults, joined in the crying.
With three little ones crying at once, the adults were nearly driven mad.
Besides crying, Feng Yuan and Rong Rong secretly ran away from home.
Each carried a small backpack with some snacks and a few pieces of clothing, and off they went.
It was still before the end of the first lunar month, and the weather was cold.
Outside, light snow was even falling.
The two little ones walked hand in hand, not once looking back.
This runaway attempt had been planned by Feng Yuan.
Once he set his mind to running away, the adults couldn’t stop him.
It wasn’t that the adults were careless. It was just that when this little guy seriously made up his mind, he became truly unpredictable.
First, he pretended to leave, leaving small footprints and his smartwatch outside.
Then, he hid inside the house, watching as the adults rushed out anxiously to search for him. Only then did he take Rong Rong and slip out again.
There were surveillance cameras at home. But even the cameras had blind spots.
Feng Yuan avoided the cameras as he made his escape.
Before leaving, he even wrote a resignation letter.
He hadn’t even worked a full month as Eggy’s nanny.
Now that he needed to find his dad, he could no longer continue the job.
The simultaneous disappearance of Feng Yuan and Rong Rong alarmed all the divine beasts.
Xie Zhi directly summoned Bai Ze.
After hearing the situation, Bai Ze remained calm and took charge of the matter.
“Don’t worry, everyone. I can find Little Chubby Yuan.”
“Since he misses his dad, I’ll take him to see him.”
“Otherwise, even if we bring him back now, he’ll just run away again next time.”
Bai Ze was quite familiar with Yuan Yuan’s temperament.
He knew exactly what the little fellow was like.
With his assurance, the adults nodded and agreed that after finding Yuan Yuan, Bai Ze could take the little guy to find his dad.
“Alright, everyone, go back and rest. Set your minds at ease. With me here, nothing will happen to Little Chubby Yuan.”
As he spoke, Bai Ze waved his hand and vanished right before everyone’s eyes.
Meanwhile, Feng Yuan, whom Bai Ze was searching for and closing in on, was currently building a snow den with Rong Rong.
They wanted to make a shelter out of snow to hide in.
It was snowing now.
They had forgotten to bring an umbrella when they went out. Now, drenched by the snow, they could barely move.
With no shelter in sight nearby, Feng Yuan started piling up snow from the ground to make a den.
Although he was quite skilled with his hands, building a snow den wasn’t easy.
After barely managing to finish it, he transformed back to his original form and huddled inside with Rong Rong.
The two little ones clung to each other for warmth.
Feng Yuan had thought about breathing a little fire to warm up.
But as soon as he let out a small flame, he nearly melted the den he had worked so hard to build.
Left with no choice, he could only continue holding onto Rong Rong.
Curled up inside the den, Feng Yuan hugged Rong Rong while feeling relieved that he hadn’t brought Qin Xun along.
If Qin Xun had come, he would have been freezing, too.
As a little phoenix, Feng Yuan wasn’t likely to freeze to death.
But Qin Xun was a human child.
Human children were a bit fragile. Feng Yuan was afraid Qin Xun might freeze to death.
“Rong Rong, let’s sleep. If we fall asleep, we won’t feel so cold.”
Feng Yuan suggested. Rong Rong, shivering, nodded in agreement.
The two little ones fell asleep inside the snow den just like that.
By the time Bai Ze found them, they were both frozen stiff.
Bai Ze gathered the stiff little phoenix and little fox into his arms.
He sighed helplessly, “Ah, if you’re going to run away from home, at least pick better weather.”
These two little rascals were both infuriating and pitiful.
