Her consciousness was still hazy and her mind sluggish, so after thinking for a long time, she couldn’t recall anything. Instead, she stared out the window in a daze.
“Feng Guang, you’re awake.”
A pleasant voice came from behind her, as if it carried an energy that helped her clear her mind.
When Wen Qiong saw she hadn’t responded, he tightened his embrace around her. “Did you not sleep well?”
She turned her head to see the man behind her who had his arms around her. Quickly, she pushed the blankets off and sat up, gritting her teeth. “Wen Qiong.”
Feng Guang had always been very conscious of her image, but now, she didn’t care about her slightly messy hair.
Wen Qiong sat up as well. He had been moved to a regular hospital room, but he was still wearing a hospital gown, and his face was pale from his recent illness. With his handsome face, any expression of pain he made would no doubt soften the hearts of many women.
But Feng Guang wasn’t like other women. It wasn’t that she lacked compassion; it was because she remembered how he had planned everything to send her to hell. If she could show any softness toward a man who wanted to kill her, then she might as well be crazy alongside him.

Feng Guang froze, then couldn’t help but ask, “Are you crazy? Just because of a few words from me, you’d kill yourself? Have you thought about your parents?”
“Feng Guang, everything in this world can be calculated, including money and even so-called family bonds. Family… is just something parents give their children to bind them, nothing more. I’ve known for a long time that I don’t need such chains.” He spoke with conviction, and though others would recognize his words as nonsense, his confident demeanor made it hard for anyone to argue.
Feng Guang moved her lips, unsure of what to say. His indifferent attitude toward family reminded her of a man from the distant corners of her memories. Perhaps she would forget everything from her past world, and the characters she once pursued, but there was one person—no matter how much she forgot her feelings for him—she would always remember his name.
Xue Ran. He was the man who made her experience the taste of failure for the first time. Back then, he couldn’t understand why she should feel sad when her father died.
