Luo Chenxi, caught between two groups, felt a bit awkward. She hadn’t known how to handle being cornered by Yu Shu earlier, and thankfully, Feng Guang and Liu Han had shown up. She wasn’t particularly good at dealing with neurotic types like Yu Shu. When the elevator arrived, she quickly said, “The elevator’s here. Let’s go in.”
The atmosphere grew even more stifling once the four of them stepped into the elevator.
After another long sigh, Yu Shu turned to Feng Guang, separated by Liu Han, and said, “Miss Xia, although we’re in the same company, this is our first time working together. I’ve seen your performances, and I’m confident you’ll play Lou Ruo perfectly. It’s quite reassuring.”
Why did that sound so infuriating?
Liu Han gave Feng Guang a look, signaling her to stay calm.
Feng Guang wasn’t impulsive, so she retorted with words instead. “Yu Shu, why were you walking with Miss Luo?”
“Some people are destined to meet, even from a thousand miles away, while others won’t cross paths even if they’re face-to-face,” Yu Shu sighed. “It’s all fate.”
That explanation said absolutely nothing.
What fate? Luo Chenxi worried that his words might be misunderstood by others, so she quickly clarified, “I just ran into Mr. Yu at the elevator doors.”
“Aren’t you usually with Mo Yiyun? Where is he?”
“He said there was something urgent at the company, so he left early…” Luo Chenxi gave a nervous laugh, worried Feng Guang might get the wrong idea.
“Mr. Yu,” Feng Guang said with a sweet smile, leaning past Liu Han to speak to Yu Shu, “you do remember that Mo Yiyun is our boss, right?”
Yu Shu tilted his head upward, staring at the elevator ceiling. It wasn’t the blue sky he preferred for his dramatic gestures, so he lowered his gaze back to Feng Guang. “Yes, I remember.”
“This Miss Luo here is a friend of Mo Yiyun’s. Since he’s not around, shouldn’t you, as an employee, take good care of her on his behalf?”
Luo Chenxi immediately waved her hands. “No, no, I don’t need anyone to take care of me.”
“Oh, Miss Luo, there’s no need to be shy,” Feng Guang said with a smile, then turned to Yu Shu. “Yu Shu, Miss Luo is acting for the first time. For her future development and the sake of our production, shouldn’t you guide and look after her properly?”
Yu Shu, not one to miss a beat, asked, “Why don’t you take care of her?”
“I need to go back to my room and work on improving my acting skills. Isn’t that to put your mind at ease?” The elevator arrived at that moment, and Feng Guang stepped out with Liu Han, leaving Yu Shu and Luo Chenxi behind.
She could already imagine the possessive male lead’s reaction when he saw the female lead with another man—and the trouble Yu Shu was in for.
Though Feng Guang claimed she’d return to her room to work on her acting, as soon as she hit the bed, she couldn’t resist lying down. She received a call from the detective agency, confirming they hadn’t found anyone named Wen Qiong who matched her requirements, despite the many people with that name.
It seemed she’d have to rely on Luo Chenxi to find this person.
Feng Guang lay bored on the bed for a while until a knock came at her door. “Miss Xia, you have a letter,” the hotel staff announced.
A letter?
She got off the bed and opened the door to find a clean-cut young man dressed in the hotel’s uniform. Seeing her, he gave a fanboy-like smile. “Miss Xia, this is a letter received at the front desk. It’s addressed to you.”
“For me?” Feng Guang took the letter. The envelope was white with gold trim, sealed with a golden carved gypsophila. The design was simple yet exuded understated elegance.
