At a Private Club
Ye Minxing invited a group of friends over for drinks.
He had gotten drunk and spent the night at a hotel after partying at a bar, so he didn’t go back home. When he woke up, he returned, only to find his house empty.
Fu Qingli had already gone to record the show.
Ye Minxing didn’t even think about opening a livestream. He was just annoyed and frustrated. She was off recording again, which would inevitably lead to more criticism and trending topics on social media. And at home? It was bound to cause another scene.
He just wanted to be with the person he loved—why was it so difficult?
He reluctantly went to the office to handle some urgent matters, and out of frustration, he called his friends to hang out.
His friends sympathetically watched as he drank one glass after another, unable to say much but continuing to pour him more. “Drink up, drink up. Didn’t they say a drink can ease a thousand worries?”
The previous night, at a family dinner, everyone had heard about Fu Qingli’s confrontation with the Ye family. She left early, and the Ye family didn’t bother to cover for her. They even subtly made it clear that they didn’t dislike her, but there was just nothing about her they could like.
They openly leaked this to show that they didn’t recognize her as part of the family and didn’t think she would last with Ye Minxing.
If they cared about her at all, they would have tried to hide this family drama.
From the start, Su Xingyu never thought this couple would last. Seeing his friend in this state, he couldn’t help but speak up: “What’s the point of getting angry? You should just say, either get a divorce or give up on your career.”
Ye Minxing muttered, “She told me, to either divorce or don’t bother her.”
Everyone: “…”
Su Xingyu was surprised by the audacity of a girl from an ordinary family saying that. He cursed under his breath in disbelief: “She said that? Wasn’t she trying to please your family before? Would she go through with the divorce?”
Ye Minxing pressed his lips together. “I don’t know.”
He didn’t know if she would go through with it, but he couldn’t let go. He had put so much into this marriage, and giving it up felt unbearable.
Su Xingyu guessed his feelings, grumbling and sitting back down. “You know, it’d be so much better if you were with Su Tang. Why make things so complicated?”
As soon as he finished speaking, someone next to him nudged him with their elbow, reminding him not to speak carelessly.
Su Xingyu shrugged, though he had never given up on Su Tang. Even though it seemed like she was happy with Ji Yan from the driver’s family, their difference wasn’t much greater than the one between Fu Qingli and Ye Minxing.
Now that these two were having problems, Su Xingyu figured the other couple would probably end up in a similar situation.
But since no one else agreed, he didn’t say more. He felt like smoking, so he stepped outside. But just as he was about to light up, he saw Su Tang coming out of the bathroom, drying her hands.
“Hey? Xiao Yu?” Su Tang greeted, a little surprised.
Su Xingyu’s eyes brightened. “Su Tang? What are you doing here?”
Su Tang smiled. “Just out to have some fun.”
“Perfect, Ah Xing is here too. Come, let’s go sit in our private room.” Su Xingyu enthusiastically pulled her towards the room.
Su Tang hesitated, shaking her head. “Don’t…”
But Su Xingyu was too eager, and before she could react, she had already been dragged inside.
Inside, a few young men who had been laughing and drinking fell silent as they noticed her.
Ye Minxing sensed something and looked up, locking eyes with Su Tang, who looked somewhat flustered.
They both paused for a moment, and Su Tang adjusted her hair, smiling as she greeted everyone. “You’re all here.”
“Yeah,” Ye Minxing nodded slightly, “Take a seat.”
Seeing an opportunity, Su Xingyu immediately pushed her to sit next to Ye Minxing, smiling. “Sit down. Ah Xing has been a little troubled lately, and none of us big guys can help him. You, being a woman, maybe you can give him some advice.”
“Alright then.” Su Tang felt overwhelmed by the warm reception and sat down. She smiled shyly at Ye Minxing. “Ah Xing, still worried about what happened yesterday?”
Ye Minxing leaned back lazily. “No, just new troubles.”
“Mm?” Su Tang tilted her head, her long hair falling over her shoulder and brushing against Ye Minxing’s. No one else noticed, but Ye Minxing did.
However, Ye Minxing didn’t want to talk about it anymore. There were too many people, and…
He had rejected Su Tang so firmly in the past, and now, seeing her face-to-face, she seemed so much more beautiful and happy than before. He felt a little shy, so instead of speaking, he simply poured her a glass of wine, and they clinked glasses.
Su Tang didn’t press him for more details, delicately sipping from the glass, her legs casually swaying.
Su Xingyu watched from the side, feeling a little anxious. It had been a long time since these two had met, but there didn’t seem to be any special reaction.
His mind raced, trying to think of a way to make Ye Minxing realize how great Su Tang was. As for Su Tang, she had once liked Ye Minxing so much, so if Ye Minxing changed his mind, she’d never be able to resist.
Suddenly, he remembered: today was the day Fu Qingli was recording for the show!
Last week, she had been trending for all the wrong reasons.
Ye Minxing had been annoyed about her insistence on participating again, especially since it upset his family. With her lack of skills, she was bound to face more criticism and be ridiculed even more than the last time.
It was going to be worse than last time!
Su Xingyu purposely said, “I’m bored. Let me check Weibo.”
No one paid him much attention, but he didn’t mind. He opened his phone and sure enough, the first trending topic was: Fu Qingli Horror Escape
It had quite a bit of heat.
Without thinking, he clicked on it, glancing over at Ye Minxing. Seeing that he wasn’t paying attention, Su Xingyu subtly shifted his position and clicked on the post.
Soon, the video began to play on the big screen across the room.
The others noticed. “What’s this?”
“Xiao Yu, what are you doing? I was about to listen to music, and now you’ve put this on the projector?”
Su Xingyu chuckled nervously. “Oops, clicked the wrong thing. Wait a minute…”
But his hands were already clicking on the video to play it.
The scene appeared on the screen. The background was from the horror escape show, and in night vision, the four contestants were seen walking out of a dark room.
There were no bullet comments in the projection mode, and Su Xingyu wasn’t sure what happened next, but the video was already catching everyone’s attention, including Su Tang and Ye Minxing.
Su Tang glanced at Su Xingyu, then looked at the screen, surprised. “Oh, it’s your sister-in-law’s show?”
Everyone in the room gasped, their eyes lighting up as they looked over.
Ye Minxing glanced at the screen and immediately recognized Fu Qingli, walking second. His face darkened as he glared at Su Xingyu. “Turn it off!”
Su Xingyu shuddered. Ye Minxing was the boss here, and he was used to listening to him, but he had gone this far and wasn’t about to back down easily. He grinned, “Don’t be like that. We’re just watching. Are you that stingy that you won’t let us see a little of your sister-in-law?”
Ye Minxing saw through his intentions. Though he was upset that Fu Qingli was embarrassing herself by continuing with the show, she was still his wife, and he didn’t want her to be ridiculed. He stood up, intending to turn it off.
But just as he moved, Su Tang placed her hand on his arm, advising, “The show’s meant to be seen. There’s no point in being upset. It’s better to just face it.”
Ye Minxing’s expression shifted, but he remained silent.
Su Xingyu relaxed and winked at Su Tang, continuing to watch as the scene on the screen reached its climax—the ghost doll in white, with long hair, was being controlled by a string and lunged toward them.
In night vision, it was even more terrifying.
Someone gasped, recoiling in fear.
The three others on the screen screamed and ducked for cover.
