Su Yi raised her eyebrows slightly. She and Su Li’an were only able to stand here thanks to Sheng Hengrong. They couldn’t even be called guests, but they were invited too. Rich people were indeed very generous.
She was just surprised. The ones who were really surprised were Lin Luoluo and Sheng Yanchuan.
They had been to both the Sheng family’s ancestral home and the ecological park many times. Except for some festivals or birthday banquets, they had never been invited to stay for dinner.
Not to mention, it was their Third Uncle who asked to keep them as guests. Everyone knew that he hated being disturbed the most.
Was it a special day today?
Lin Luoluo looked at Sheng Yanchuan, but from his expression, it could be seen that he had no idea.
The only special thing today was—
Although she thought that it was unlikely, Lin Luoluo couldn’t help but glance at Su Yi.
Just as Su Yi was thinking about whether to say something polite to shirk the responsibility, Sheng Hengrong cheered and pulled Su Li’an into the house, “Great, let’s eat together!”
The adults had no choice but to walk into the dining room under the guidance of Uncle Gu, with different thoughts in their minds.
The host did not appear at the table. Uncle Gu explained that he was not feeling well.
It sounded like a bad excuse, but everyone knew that the health of the Third Master of the Sheng family was really not good.
It seemed that he was about to die a while ago. Some people were even ready to attend his funeral, but he survived again.
It was just that they didn’t know how long he could last. No one would doubt that he couldn’t last long. After all, several generations of this family had not lived past the age of 40.
Only Su Yi knew that the Third Young Master Sheng would not die.
In the past, he was sick because of premature birth. Now, he was sick because his unhealthy body could not withstand the overly powerful soul of the demon wolf. However, because of the demon wolf’s presence, the endless soul power could in turn slowly nourish this body.
In other words, if nothing unexpected happened, the Third Young Master Sheng would always remain in this sickly state. Everyone was waiting to see when he would die, but he would live longer than everyone else.
The dinner was delicious. Su Yi deliberately controlled her appetite and only ate the amount that she thought was within the normal range. After all, she was a guest at someone else’s house, so she had to be reserved.
As a result, when she looked up, she saw that Lin Luoluo had only touched a few bites of food on the plate. Then, she looked at Sheng Yanchuan, who was a big man but put down his chopsticks after eating only a bowl of rice.
She suddenly realized that she was still defeated by humans in the matter of reserve.
After dinner, it was completely dark. In the center of this city, you can’t see the stars at night, but you can here.
Su Li’an and Sheng Hengrong walked out of the door and couldn’t help but marvel, looking up at the starry sky that was like gems scattered on a tray.
Su Yi also looked up for a while. No matter how many times she admired it, the vast stars were always fascinating.
The Sheng family arranged a car to take her and Su Li’an home.
After playing outside for a day, Su Li’an forced himself to take a shower after coming back. He hadn’t even blow-dried his hair yet, but his eyelids were already drooping and his head was nodding.
Su Yi asked him to sit on the bed. Then, she sat beside the bed to help him blow his hair.
The child was half-awake and half-asleep, mumbling something in his mouth.
The hair dryer was working, and Su Yi didn’t listen carefully. When the hair was dried and it was quiet around, she helped the child lie down. Then, she heard the vague words clearly.
“Sheng Hengrong has…a father and a mother, I only have a mother…”
Su Yi looked up at him. The little kid closed his eyes and breathed evenly. What he said just now was just a few words in his sleep.
She pinched the corner of the quilt, walked out gently, and then knocked her forehead with a headache.
She knew that raising a cub was not an easy job, at least much harder than fighting. But these days, she felt that she had done a good job and was quite complacent.
But now, she felt that she would soon face a problem that a single mother might face: What should she do if her son asked her for his father?

I grew up without a dad, my mom tried to replace him with a new guy, but it never lasted. Not one of them were good people. Better to have none. My current one I got as a young adult is wonderful though.
