Lightning split the sky in two, and thunder echoed throughout the night as torrential rain fell in the dead of night.

A pale, slender arm reached out from under the covers and grasped the corner of the departing man’s clothing.

Dressed and ready, Qi Mu turned and sat by the bed. He took her hand, placed a kiss on it, and gently smiled, “Don’t you want me to stay?”

“It’s raining outside…” Feng Guang, still nestled under the covers with her cheeks flushed from their earlier encounter, spoke in a voice more melodic than usual—almost timid. Surprised by how her voice sounded, her face turned even redder.

She couldn’t help but imagine how many plum blossoms had been left on her otherwise smooth and fair skin. The initial reckless abandon had turned into deep shyness once reason returned.

Qi Mu tucked her slightly cold arm back under the covers, keeping his hand on her waist, gently massaging to ease her body’s soreness. Feng Guang responded with soft, contented murmurs.

Unable to resist, he kissed her lips again. Even though he had just had a meal, he struggled to control himself, knowing her body was still delicate from the first experience. He couldn’t bring himself to tire her further out.

She called out to him, half-closing her eyes, “Ah Mu…”

He kissed her eyelids and asked softly, “Do you feel a bit better now?”

“Mmm…” She grabbed the blanket over her chest, propped herself up slightly, and weakly collapsed into his arms, ignoring her shyness as she pleaded, “Can’t you stay a little longer?”

Worried she might catch a cold, Qi Mu held her tightly through the covers and said helplessly, “In an hour, Old Master Xia will be up to check the shop.”

“How do you know when my father wakes up?” she asked.

“When I risked coming out in the middle of the night to see you, of course, I had to investigate everything thoroughly,” he said with a light laugh against her ear.

So, he wasn’t acting on impulse but had planned this visit. Feng Guang, clutching his shirt, pondered for a long while before asking, “Ah Mu, with us… like this… is there a chance I could get pregnant?”

“Like this? What do you mean by ‘like this’?”

“You know… with us…” She looked up, seeing his teasing smile illuminated by a flash of lightning. Realizing he was joking, she felt a bit annoyed and said, “You’re still laughing. What if I do get pregnant?”

“Then we’ll have the baby.”

She sighed in defeat within his embrace.

As if comforting a child, he patted her back and said, “Alright, I should go now.”

She looked up, “But it’s still raining so heavily outside.”
